The Common Man Inn & Spa

My husband and I got married at the Barn on the Pemi on 5/31/24, which works closely with the Common Man Inn & Spa. We had our room block, rehearsal dinner, and after party at the Inn, but I'm here to rave about our experience with the Spa! After booking our venue, I spoke to the Inn about any accommodations or recommendations they might have for somewhere for myself and my bridesmaids to get ready the morning of the wedding. They actually have what they affectionately call the "Getting Ready Room," which can be reserved ahead of time. I saw some pictures, saw that the room had some nice natural light, floor to ceiling mirrors and salon chairs, so I figured it was our best bet.

Come wedding week and I went down to the spa with my bridesmaid to see the room and the pictures definitely did not do it justice! The room is large with a sitting area with a couch, table and chairs in the middle and salon-style chairs and mirrors around the perimeter. Our hair and makeup stylists were THRILLED with the setup! I'll let the pictures speak for themselves, but want to add one more thing. The night before the wedding, one of my nails (done at a salon back home) broke and popped off - nightmare! I kept the broken piece and brought it to the Spa the morning of the wedding to see if they could help. The Spa staff went above and beyond to make sure my nails looked perfect. One of their nail techs sat in front of my while I was having my makeup done, glued the nail piece back on, and put a top layer of the. white french tip and clear coat shellac over all of my nails to make sure they all looked the same.

I would highly recommend the Spa Getting Ready Room for the morning of your wedding - the space and the staff are fantastic!

Entire staff was friendly and professional. We were here for a spa day, dinner, and overnight. Wonderful spa atmosphere, very clean pool / hot tub/ sauna area. The Inn is quaint, with history displayed throughout. Check in was friendly and efficient. Room was clean, spacious, and decorated like a cabin. Restaurant was well run and food was delicious. Our entire stay was relaxing and very enjoyable.

The hotel itself was beautiful. I loved the cat in the lobby. Sadly, we had a major snow storm while we were there. The walkways and parking lots were awful. The staff I interacted with were all pleasant and helpful.

I spend a week here ever year for my birthday with just my dog. The room is amazing, cozy, fireplace, big tub. The mini fridge never seems to be cold, maybe an updated one would be a suggestion. The spa is nice, hot tub and pool are clean. The steakhouse is hit or miss. A tad slow and expensive for the portion sizes, but tastey.

It’s been a while since I stayed here, but when I did, the rooms were cozy, service was great, and the staff were absolutely fantastic.

Great place to stop on the way to the mountains. Rooms are spacious and clean. The Squam suite is worth the upgrade. The spa is cute. Very nice pool, hot tub, and sauna area. Recommended highly. For good food, Foster's Boiler Room is attached. They also have larger rooms for functions.

Our monthly square dances are usually held at the Barn on the Pemi, at the Italian Farmhouse, another member of the Common Man family. This morning it was learned that that venue wouldn't be available this evening for circumstances beyond the Barn's control. They had us relocate to the Common Man Inn and Spa. Everything went off perfectly. We are so grateful to Alex and the CMan staff for pulling this off!

We had lunch here as part of a train tour group and were very impressed with the menu, quality of food and the service.
The food items were well balanced, wholesome and not overly done. Items included vegetable soup, lasagne, butternut squash, mashed potatoes, stir fried vegetables, roast turkey, stuffing and plum sauce. All items were well prepared and tasty.
The service by the staff was impeccable and warm.
Convenient car and train parking and clean toilets added to the pleasurable experience.

Adorable, clean, and affordable inn. Very welcoming and friendly staff, breakfast was great! Would recommend to anyone looking for a local, charming place to stay.

Very nice spot, the food was delicious. And it's a very welcoming atmosphere. They also have a great little convenience store that is packed full of all kinds of stuff that you could buy. That's freshly made or specialty made. Very beautiful country style place.

The atmosphere is amazing throughout the inn. You walk in and meet the cutest cat ever named CC. She lives right in the lobby and greets you (if she's not sleeping). One of the things I found that I loved was they made each area of the building including the hallways comfortable. There is no shortage of seating. Our room was spacious and warm. There was a mini fridge for your own personal items. But if you were hungry or would like any drinks there was a complimentary kitchen available all day and night. The staff was so inviting and kind from the moment we walked in to the moment we left. We also had dinner at Foster's boiler room which was delicious. (Make sure you make a reservation if you can, it was busy even for a Tuesday night). We enjoyed the spa as well as the hot tub and pool which was relaxing. If you haven't thought about getting a massage there, I definitely recommend one. Make sure you call the spa in advance when you book or if you live nearby. The ladies there are so sweet and make you feel so welcome. We will definitely be staying there again.

I came specifically for the spa.
I spent just over 5 hours being pampered. Colleen did my massage, and I truly didn't want it to end.
Jennifer did my fully boxy relax treatment, facial treatment, and pedicure. After how I was treated today, I want to move in. I was SO relaxed that I fell asleep the moment I got home. I've been dealing with severe insomnia and this was the cure.
Both Colleen and Jennifer were a delight to chat with, amazing at what they do, and attentive to any and every need I had. Jennifer made sure to find a nail color for my toes that already matched my fingers (I do my own finger nails at home).
My skin is SO soft. My roommate told me I look like I'm glowing. Any my muscles don't hurt for a change.
The day I had today was worth EVERY penny.

We stayed at one of the "tiny cabins" for a night, we loved the experience. Very clean, quiet room with nice decor; warm and comfortable despite the -19 degree weather. The bathroom and shower were nice and came stocked with plenty of shampoo/conditioner etc and a good hair dryer. We also loved the comfy bathrobes.

The cabins are a mile or two out from downtown Plymouth, so it's easy to drive in and explore the town.

If I would request one minor change, it would be if the cabins were a little better stocked with disposable cups and utensils - there are two styrofoam coffee cups per room and k-cup coffee and supplies, but a couple of extra cups and utensils would have been helpful, especially being a few miles from the main lodgings. A small nitpick, otherwise our stay was lovely!

Talk about a great place. My friends son got married here and this place is amazing. We stayed in the cheapest room they had and it was huge, very clean and so comfortable. They provide a continental breakfast with 1 made to order hot entree and it was good. The barn where the wedding was held was gorgeous and the food was excellent. I highly recommend this place!!

Beautiful room with a comfy king bed and fireplace. Cable went out but hotel manager made it right for us. Hot tub was nice too.

Beautiful hotel nestled into an old mill building. The staff was great, and the room was clean and tastfully decorated. The soaps/shampoos were organic/non-toxic, and the towels/linens smelled wonderful. Had a great night's sleep.

First time visiting the spa. Have dined there a lot, and food has always been great. The spa is very nice with a very soothing and relaxing atmosphere. I had a mani and pedi and also enjoyed the pool and jacuzzi. The jacuzzi was relaxing except the water fall was a bit intense for such a small area. Friends with me had massages and facials and found them relaxing. Overall it was a nice and relaxing experience!

The customer service was outstanding. The staff is friendly and our room was Immaculate. We had a fireplace suite and it was the most comfortable hotel room we've stayed in for a long time. We were in town for a wedding but the area is beautiful ("On Golden Pond"was filmed at nearby Squam Lake). We are talking about going back to visit the area again and, if we do, we'll stay here. Highly Recommended!
