White Heron Tea & Coffee

Cozy spot with a big selection of herbal tea and coffee. Their lunch menu was very extensive as well. Many people were working off their laptops while drinking a coffee or tea or enjoying a sandwich. This place is very kid friendly because many moms brought their kids inside for a bite to eat. The food was delicious and you can also purchase their homemade herbal tea by the can. Highly recommended White Heron if you’re in the Portsmouth area! 10/10

Great spot for breakfast! Staff was so sweet and helpful when trying to decide what to order. They have loose leaf teas for every palate. They also have milk alternatives for the dairy free. The vibe( atmosphere) is so relaxed and welcoming. I plan to order some tea online in the future.

Amazing vegetarian breakfast wraps (with options for vegan or meat as well). Coffee is good, and if you’re a tea lover you have to check this place out. We tried the iced lavender chai tea and it was delicious. The cafe is very cute and is a great place for reading a book or chatting with friends!

Y’all need to come visit, this cafe is blowing my mind. The cappuccino is delicious. Loved the abundance of vegan options!

We liked this little coffee shop so much, we came here both mornings during our brief stay in Portsmouth while passing through the area. The coffee is delicious, nice and strong americanos if you add an extra shot. My husband had a couple different varieties of the scones and he raved about them. I had the potato and egg hash and it was very good. We also purchased a couple of records here, as they have some for sale. There’s a really nice selection of tea pots and coffee & tea, as well as some merchandise. I also appreciated that the staff was masked and the 99.9% of the customers were as well, which made me feel a little bit better about having my 1.5 year old child inside with other people. It’s always a struggle for us to find places where we feel it’s at least relatively safer to take our child, and when I find those places I want to support them as much as possible. If I ever return to the area, I will definitely come back to this little gem of a coffee shop.

+ The staff is always pleasant and happy, you can tell it's an enjoyable place to work, we've never experienced anyone having a bad day at White Heron.
+ One of the most vegan friendly Portsmouth eateries we've found! Breakfast, Lunch, and early dinner, plus delicious vegan donuts and snacks!!
+ Coffee, consistently delicious coffee roasted in house and always fresh!
+ Community, wonderful patrons and sense of community that Portsmouth is known for.
+ Convenient, it's just outside of downtown so we get the proximity to town without the traffic.
+ WiFi, it's our go to place to work from when we want to get out of the house and interact with like minded people.

This is hands down my favorite cafe in Portsmouth! Very vegan friendly. Such a bright, cozy and eclectic vibe inside with kind and helpful staff. This place has phenomenal coffee and tea drinks with multiple plant based milks. They typically have a few vegan pastries/ treats on display near the cashier and they have three clearly labeled vegan wraps on their food menu. Grateful for a space that caters to everyone’s dietary needs/ preferences!

Stopped by on our way from Maine to Virginia because we saw it had great reviews and it didn't disappoint. Very friendly staff and delicious fresh to order breakfast sandwiches. Scones were an extra treat! Even passed the USS Albacore when we got off 95 to get there. Worth the quick stop 😊

So many vegan options, and now no upcharge for plant based milks!!! With available parking, plenty of tables and amazingly friendly/helpful staff, it’s easily been our go-to favorite coffee shop/cafe for years. We love knowing we’ll see someone we know, and get yummy fresh eats without fail. Definitely a friendly place for anyone with food sensitivities.

My favorite cold brew in Portsmouth, and they have an amazing vegetarian breakfast wrap. I spend much too much time and money here. 😂

They have several (clearly marked) vegan options. I had the tofu tiger wrap, a strawberry coconut donut, and an espresso — all vegan, all delicious. They also have a large menu for people who are not vegan. Peaceful atmosphere with plenty of seating.

The barista very kind and friendly. The only reason for the 4 stars is because my wife asked for a macha latte but received a latte. Other than that. It is an excellent place for a pick-me-up.

So happy to have this as our neighbourhood cafe. There is a huge selection of drinks, not just tea, that suit every taste. And the food is tasty too.
