Great food and amazing service. If you are in the grand hotel I recommend going to the breakfast buffet. I saw the reviews for dinner and they were not that great. But I say don't listen to them and go to the buffet. Not many gluten free options though. There are cereal boxes, pancakes and french toast sticks for the kids. For adults there are sausages, scrambled eggs, and bagels. Service is fast and efficient, and the food was cheap.

Read all the reviews, even the irrelevant ones from years ago. Wife and I went for appetizers and drinks. Our bartender Katie was amazing! She was very personable and attentive. We ordered the nachos, they were really good, 4 out of 5! The fifth star was for the service, again Katie was on point and deserves 5 stars alone. We will definitely be going back during our stay for another drink and a different appetizer!

The breakfast buffet was pretty good, not sure why the reviews are so low. Service was great.

Delicious food and friendly staff! We were pleasantly surprised by the high quality of the food - perfectly seasoned, perfectly cooked!

The food was good, but didn't knock our socks off. It's convenient, being in the hotel, but not inexpensive. Our server, Angel, was incredibly attentive and the service was excellent.

The service (hostess, waitress) were excellent, and were able to explain all the day-of changes. That said, the restaurant at the time of this post had only been doing non continental breakfast for a while; the website said breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We had to make a grocery run to cover for those two other meals, due to the snowstorm as well (didn't want to run out for restaurant food elsewhere). Another things that was disappointing was the amount of folks that needed that breakfast, and for 7.95 per person you were lucky if you only waited in the make your own waffle line for less than thirty minutes. Lots of things ran out fast and in the time we were there, no replacements. Being understaffed, and under-supplied when a known ski-school-vacation is going on = not that great for everybody. Please update the website, too, to reflect less meals being served.

That’s funny. I thought we said no tomato or pickle. Twice. Underlined. Guess what we got? Tomato, pickle, not so fresh bun and a pink “medium well” burger. Oh and I had to pick some black lettuce out of my salad.

The clam chowder was good though! Cup of clam chowder, harvest salad, burger and fries with two bottled lemonades came to about $36

This is the restaurant inside the North Conway Grand Hotel. 1 of the reasons I chose the hotel was the lovely looking restaurant and tavern on the website. As I was unfamiliar with the area I wanted a nice place for dinner onsite.
On check-in the woman at the desk explained it was a limited menu right now and the breakfast included was pretty much grab and go.
I assumed it would still be a decent menu for dinner and the option to purchase a nicer breakfast. I was wrong on both accounts. The restaurant was actually closed at dinner time, the bartender at the tavern offered us a paper menu with scant options, not the work of a nice hotel, more on the line of a mom and pop. We walked out and had to go hunting for a real dinner.
Breakfast was a paper bag breakfast, literally. No option to buy more for breakfast. Think elementary school.
The rooms were nice and the movie theater in the basement was a great touch but...paper bag breakfast? For the price, you can do better.

This is the first night of our two-night stay at the North Conway Grand Hotel. Though we don't currently have any complaints about the hotel itself, the Mountainside Tavern & Restaurant left much to be desired. After a long day of travel, dining out, and mountain activities; my family of five was looking forward to hunkering down for the evening at the hotel and dining in our hotel room (we have an infant and two little ones, so after a long day we opted to not dine in at the restaurant).

After several minutes of trying to locate the menu online, I called the front desk and was informed that I needed to pick up a menu from them. There was an extention listed on the menu for us to call for takeout, however it rang endlessly and eventually hung up on us. So, I called the front desk once again, and was informed that I needed to put in my order in-person at the restaurant. Down I went with my 2 and 6 year-old, and we put in our order after waiting for at least 5 minutes to be addressed by the hostess. The demeanor of the older woman who served us was unpleasant to say the least. I felt as though I was asking for something unheard of, just because I wanted to put in a takeout order. She didn't even crack a smile at me or my two children.

Fast forward to when I received a call in my room that my food was ready (it was quick, I must say), and I returned with my son to pick it up. When we finally returned to our room after all of the unnecessary hoops that we had to jump through to dine on the premises, the food was mediocre at best. First of all, we were not provided with neither utensils nor napkins. The calamari was soggy, and I've had better pasta with marinara (the kids' selection) out of a can. The burger wasn't bad, and the wings were a step above basic.

Needless to say, we are paying good $$ to stay at this "grand" hotel, and do not appreciate being treated like a nuisance just because we want to take out instead of dine in... especially to wind up being served mediocre food. Not only does this reflect poorly on the restaurant, but also on the hotel itself.

The service was great, we ordered takeout. The chili was not bad, the steak and cheese sandwich and fries were terrible. No flavor and cold. Super gross. Quality of steak was disappointing

Overpriced for really bad food and terrible service. $12 for cold kraft mac and cheese is unacceptable. $30 for a buffet of cold overcooked steak and chicken, extremely disappointed!

Never knew you could boil “fried” calamari. No breading and chewy like a hair tie. Also ordered the steak and cheese. The fries are the best part. Just needs a little salt. They forgot the steak and cheese and served the bread with a few onions. A few scattered overcooked pieces of sliced roast beef were found in the “sandwich” but if you didn’t open the “sandwich” then you would never know. Bread was actually pretty good for previously frozen bread. Wish I had pictures. For a grand hotel, the local Cumbies gas station has a better menu.
