Stopped in to look at Mountain bikes with my teenage son. Immediately we were greeted by the friendly staff & set up with Kevin. Kevin was amazing to work with. He asked great questions & set my son up with the perfect bike.

We did visit a few other area shops before making our purchase. Gear West was hands down the best customer service, brand & price. I would highly recommend Gear West.

I typically never leave a review, but had to here. Awesome experience! We decided to drive 12-hours round trip in one day to receive the red carpet treatment and professional fitting of a new race bike I purchased from them, and the staff was phenomenal. The communication leading up to our visit and discussion of options while being fit was an experience like no other shop. Huge thanks to Brett and the team for the one-of-a-kind elite experience!

I purchased a pair of skate skis for my 7 year old son. The sales person was very nice, and they are great skis. He has really enjoyed skiing with the Trail Kids program. It’s great that Gearwest has skate skis available for kids. It was a learning curve the first time out, but he’ll pick it up quick. I had some questions on pricing, but they were able to sort it out. I was pleased with the attention they gave me.

Gear West was great in helping my daughter get a new pair of classic race skis. Appreciated the supportive staff, knowledge of skis, fitting process and the ski selection was great. Highly recommend!

Great selection of cross country skiing skis and bindings. They were helpful on the phone, knowledgeable, and they also mounted my bindings free of charge. The shipping was fast. The skis were well protected during shipping. I will definitely go through Gear West again and again.

My daughter and myself got fitted for downhill ski boots. What a great experience! Competent, smart, caring, and so great to have a seasoned expert! My daughter competed in slalom racing and I in mogul competitions so it was great to get appropriate fittings for types of skiing, age, and ability. Wow!

Awesome place for endurance sports! Quickly found a great pair of shoes after a custom scan and very helpful customer service. The only place I will buy running, biking or skiing apparel from now on. Amazing service, tons of product selections and good prices. The best outdoors store in the Twin Cities!

We can't say enough good things about our experience at Gear West. My partner and I worked with Sam. He was knowledgeable and never made us feel rushed, even though we wrapped up about thirty minutes after closing. As newbies to classic skiing, we left confident in our purchase of skis, boots, bindings and poles. We were greeted immediately upon entering the store and matched with Sam for an excellent experience. Customers for life!

Super responsive staff, and knowledgeable. The only cross country ski shop. I will consider buying gear without trying it on or seeing it first hand– they talk me through every aspect and everything I order online has been spot on great for racing and training.

Had a great experience shopping at Gear West with my 12 year old daughter. Dennis fitted her for new boots and then we picked out some new skis. He was fantastic to work with. After having a disastrous visit to our regular ski shop the day before, this visit could not have been better. Dennis was so fun to work with and really took the time to listen to my daughter. Then Delaney helped us pick out a new helmet and she was fabulous to work with as well. Getting new gear should be a fun experience for everyone and Dennis and Delaney definitely made that happen. We are already looking forward to our next visit!

Knowledgeable staff, great product selection and cool vibes. If you do any sport with foot gear (snowboard, ski, etc) the boot fitting service they provide is second to none. I live 300 miles away and Gear West is a must stop on our annual travels to the MSP area. A standout retail store where you can’t beat the selection, staff skill and friendliness that results in an experience and service unlike any other.

Walked in with my ‘80s era packed-out ski boots, and—with 3 master fitters in house—walked out with jaunty new comfortable(!) custom-fitted boots. I was lucky a fitter was available at the time, yes, but this was so much more than I had expected! I am fortunate to call gear West my “local shop” now, but knowing what I now know, I’d be willing to travel a bit to take advantage of their services and awesome inventory. My proud mod boots and I will be descending Alaskan slopes next week (yesss indeed!). Thank you, G.W.!

I have lived in this area for five years and have made all my bicycle purchases from Gearwest. All of the staff there are very helpful and knowledgeable about their products. I always feel like I’m getting the honest truth from them. Always willing to spend whatever time needed to answer your questions. Their prices are very competitive.

We had a great experience. I was looking for gear for two of my kids that are new to skiing. I was concerned about buying the gear and they out growing it in season. We were given several options to include used gear. Everyone was friendly and helpful. We got everything my kids needed and were very happy.

Gear West is the best. Got skis and boots for both girls today, Anna was kind and helpful and patient with the girls and did a stellar job. Have bought skis, bikes, running shoes, bibs, wetsuit at GW over the past year. They’re a little ornery at times depending on who’s helping you, but once they warm up they’re super knowledgeable, and you can tell most all of the employees are passionate about the sports & activities they’re helping you with. They go above and beyond to get you set up and ready to rock. I love supporting a local small(ish) business too. Go to Gear West!

This was hands down the best customer service experience of my life. I came in to level up my classic skis after my first race, my partner to buy skate skis, and my friend was interested in roller skis. We are all from the South and relatively new to nordic skiing, but are all huge enthusiasts with a lot of questions. BK was phenomenal. He answered all of our questions with such detail and care, and never made us feel dumb for asking probably basic things. He spent 1.5-2 hours with us patiently helping us pick out the perfect pieces of equipment. It felt like Ollivander’s wand shop from Harry Potter, but with skis. He even offered to let me demo a pair for a few days when I couldn’t decide (of course now I can’t decide and want both haha :)). He made sure we got the best deal on everything with a coupon we had, and also never oversold us, even encouraging my friend to try out different roller skis before she takes the plunge. Thank you BK and Gearwest for not just amazing skis but an incredible learning experience, we will be returning to Gearwest for all our future gear needs!

Jan and Steve did a wonderful job getting me all set up on a new pair of skate skis to start the winter season off right. They answered all my questions and made sure to set me up with the right equipment - specific for my training, skill level and budget. I’m super excited to get going on my new skis!
