The Mad Hatter Restaurant & Tea House

This was our first experience at the Mad Hatter; and we loved it! My husband and I attended the Christmas tea. It was decorated beautifully. The food was superb, tea selections were delicious. We have been to tea events in British Columbia (they are very seriousabouttheir tea there), and the Mad Hatter is comparable - top notch. Our server was Megan; she was wonderful. We also had the pleasure of meeting the owner and learning more about the history of the Mad Hatter. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

Imagine stepping into Wonderland's most charming tearoom, nestled within the grand walls of Anoka's second oldest house. That's the experience that awaits at the Mad Hatter Restaurant and Tea House, and their Queen of Hearts Tea service is nothing short of divine! The service was as charming as the setting, and the entire experience was an absolute delight.

We have enjoyed all of our visits to Mad Hatter, but our most recent visit stands out. My mother in law was visiting from Texas and we knew we had to take her here. Every minute of our visit was absolutely wonderful! She so enjoyed the boutique and our seating for on the screened in porch. Each plate was delightful, and the incredible service sweetened the experience even more! Our server, Megan, was so personable and kind, and left us wanting for nothing. We so appreciated her attentiveness and recommendations, and she felt like a friend before the end of it. Thank you for creating a wonderful experience from start to finish, Mad Hatter! We can't wait to come back!

My husband surprised me with a reservation for the Queen of Hearts tea service as a late birthday present. We had the very best time. The ambiance is so great and the service was wonderful. I love that it’s in a historic home. The Halloween decor was so great. Our waitress Lauren was very attentive
and helpful in selecting teas to try.

Our favorite teas were the chai and the rose marzipan. Some of the best tea I have had! We bought some of the loose leaf chai to enjoy at home.

The scones, savory, and dessert courses were all absolutely delicious. We will definitely be back. I’ve been wanting to go to a high tea since I was a little girl and the Mad Hatter was honestly a dream come true.

This was an absolutely beautiful place for a bridal shower. Kim took excellent care of us and the entire event was completely stress-free. From the minute we arrived, each delicate bite and sip of tea was perfect. I thought we might leave hungry, but we were completely full after the tea service. We will come back for tea!

We held my daughter’s bridal shower at The Mad Hatter. Everything was so amazing! The food was scrumptious and the teas were exquisite. We all loved being able to try such a variety of teas. And the Celebration Cake was divine! The atmosphere is so unique and cozy. Every detail was thought of by Kim and the staff - even the linens and tea cups were matched to my daughters wedding colors. We were so well taken care of and we all left talking about when we would be going back! We had a vegetarian and gluten-free diets and both were given their own tiers of food to accommodate. Top-notch service every step of the way!

Truly deserving of the brunch title! Everything was absolutely delicious. I had the mushroom tweedle puff, which was divine. The pierogis and kielbasa was also incredible. I loved the pierogies and the Dijon mustard was incredible. They have a large selection of teas. I had a whole pot of the Bourbon chocolate! They cups and teapots are all fun and different. Nice a quiet with a great atmosphere. Stop by with either a couple people or a whole group! Reservations are required!

A wonderfully quaint place for tea or brunch!!! Food was sooo good and service was outstanding!!! Can't wait to come back and try other things! We sat on their porch and loved it; would request the porch again! Plus there is a cute boutique upstairs to buy their tea and other tea or gifty things!

Mouth-watering food, an amazing assortment of teas, and a delightful gift shop that not only sells their tea, but also offers beautiful hats.

I had such a lovely time here. I grabbed brunch with my sister and we enjoyed every minute of it. The staff were all amazing and our waitress, Sydney was even better! The food and drinks (mimosa and tea) were great as well. Can’t wait to return here for Christmas!

“Mad hatter. This place was magical. Outside looks like any house on the street but when you walk inside the house, it’s so Victorian old times look theme. The employees was super nice and the set up for our table was super cute with a table cloth, waters, utensils with napkins, and the menu. It was super cool to get a window sitting. I ordered a cream brûlée black tea and it was delicious. It came with a sugar bowl with sugar cubes, milk in a milk cup, a pot of tea, and a plate and tongs to grab the tea bag when it was done. They even give you a timer and tells you which time to look at to get the perfect tea. I ordered a combo skillet which is a mixture of meat and vegetables together with goat cheese. I did not like the goat cheese simply because it was super strong flavor. If you like goat cheese you can add it. The combo skillet was delicious and well made. Their ketchup was homemade and it was delicious 😩😩. The dessert was a cream puff and man, that cream was 😩 it was not overly sweet but a perfect sweet. The puff was puffy for sure. The decorations around the cream puff were edible and delicious. The price was literally affordable. This was the brunch brunch and not the queen of hearts option. You can reserve a ahead of time to get a secure sitting. This place gets super full in the morning. Overall I would definitely come back here again. 10/10.”

I brought my two nanny girls here today for a tea party! It was incredible!!! We had the best time dressing up, eating delicious snacks and sipping on our teas. The atmosphere makes you feel like you went back in time to England in the 1850s. A true dream and the staff are so kind! April was so sweet to my girls and took care of us well! Thank you!!

MY NEW FAVORITE PLACE!! Went to the Mad Hatter today and had the best time! Food was fantastic! Our server was amazing too! The BouTeaque was really nice too!

Just wow. Loved every dish we ordered. The crab cakes are the best we’ve had.

The location is stunning: the split of the rivers. You can walk the grounds and be wowed yourselves.

Now we’re booked for the Queen’s High Tea! Super excited.

Also, cannot wait to try the Green Goddess.

We visited this restaurant a couple of weeks ago with daughter and son-in-law. We all enjoyed it. The food was very good and service to match. Thank you Kim for being so attentive.

We were here for Christmas tea. The tea choices were good and the assortment of food was tasty. The take-home boxes for dessert was a good idea. The service was great, the server brought a little cup for my toddler with pink lemonade, which my girl loved.

My feedback to the restaurant is to go more bold & creative with the petit snacks & desserts for the high tea & the seating (bench) wasn't the most comfortable. Adding some pillows might be helpful.

A very cute and fun environment. The food was excellent and the atmosphere felt very intimate and comfortable which my family very much enjoyed. Our server Gabby was such a sweetheart and talked us through how everything worked and gave us some recommendations, she made the experience that much more enjoyable. We will definitely be back!

I brought my mom here for her birthday and we did the queen of hearts tea service. We both loved it. The scones and finger sandwiches were really good. I've never been much of a tea drinker but this tea was so good I will probably come back just to buy some for home. Our server was lovely and so helpful, and everything was really cute. Everything exceeded my expectations.

Went for brunch. Had the tweedlepuff, the green goddess grilled cheese, wild rice soup, and Meyer lemonade. All so very delicious. Fun store upstairs sells hats and more. This place is like an Event - as well as just being a place to get a good meal. We called and were able to get a table the very same day. I believe they only have 16 tables - reservations are typically a couple weeks out - so it’s best to plan ahead. It’s worth the wait!
