Absolute best Cortado I’ve ever had!!!!!! It’s the same delicious and perfect blend and flavor every single time!!! If you have a developed palette for good coffee, this is the best place to go in Lansing! Also best black brewed coffee! And, it’s not just the best because we’re in Lansing. I’ve traveled all the US to big cities, and Strange Matter would hold its own in any of those cities as well! Thanks friends for your dedication to the craft and sharing it with us! 💙

I absolutely love this cafe! I don't live in the area, so I can't come regularly. However, once in a while, it is an absolute treat. The vegan doughnuts are phenomenal. It is nearly indistinguishable from a regular doughnut. Plus there are always new delicious flavors every time I come out.

My husband and I came to Lansing to visit my mother in law, and we decided to stop by this place while on our walk. I love the atmosphere and the staff is super friendly. They even have water you can help yourself to. Great lattes too! I’d love to come by again next time we’re in town! :)

Update! The coffee is still excellent. I wish the staff would move a little bit quicker but other than that, SM is A+.

The coffee here is so good! Donuts (regular and gluten-free) and other breakfast rolls are amazing! Calm, clean, modern vibes. Highly recommend.

One thing I always appreciate about a city is their ability to play host to quality coffee shops. I must say Strange Matter is the best Lansing and it’s surrounding areas has to offer. Unfortunately, they don’t really have to compete against much other than Blue Owl coffee, who doesn’t even roast their own beans. I usually come to strange matter to get a bag of their single origin beans and a fresh vegan donut. I am always impressed by the colorful and creative flavors of donut they have. I also love that they give you a complimentary cup of coffee with the purchase of a bag of beans. I haven’t had a reason to enjoy their large open seating area yet but, from the looks of it, there’s many seating options to either enjoy a book on your own, get some work done, or catch up with friends.

I always love the good vibes at strange matter, and their donuts and drinks always slay, and today was no different. But I felt the need to leave a review because both employees were so nice despite the fact that I came in 10 minutes before close, and thought I was ordering a simple drink for them to make, didn't realize they had to steep my iced tea, which made me feel worse that I was ordering it so close to closing time, but hand to God its the best iced tea I've ever had in my whole life. Hibiscus and I think juniper Barry... Perfection. Thank you to the patient employees! 🩷

Every single time I order from strange matter I fall more in love. The staff is so kind and sweet. The bakers have consistently created new and exciting combinations of flavors and designs that continue to excite people that go there regularly. I live 40 miles away and I FREQUENTLY drive to Lansing JUST for donuts. They’ve also followed all local guidelines to keep people safe and are a very positive impact on the community.

Strange Matter is something I am so glad I stumbled upon after moving to the area from GR. Quality coffee, traditional menu, house made syrups, and amazing baked goods. Recently, I ordered a dozen custom donuts and the bakers CRUSHED it. A great place to get work done, build community, and get yourself a little treat!

VEGAN DONUTS!!! Mkay, I'm not even vegan but I was curious. These donuts taste like a regular donut, no lie. I will be returning to try more vegan baked goods. We had the matcha raspberry and strawberries and creme. I also tried a cinnamon honey latte.... wasn't a fan of the coffee personally. But I'll take every flavor of donut next time😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍

The staff at Strange Matter were great! They were friendly and quick! The latte and donut were delicious, and the atmosphere felt warm and friendly. If you want great coffee and lattes along with a delicious pastry, I promise this is the place for you!

I love it. I'm from Europe and have been looking for a good coffee shop in Lansing, which seems very hard to find apparently. I've been to many places including starbucks and they all serve junk. But then I walked into Strange Matter and found my place. They are awesome. They serve a great Espresso and the atmosphere is great. Also they are not over charging for coffee. If you are a true coffee drinker looking for REAL coffee then this is the place to be. Love it and will keep coming back.

Exceptional spot in East Downtown for dine in or pick up. Baking options are good for vegan and gluten-free patrons. Favorite drinks are the cold brew and Nola. SM boasts quite the range for those looking for darker richer roasts all the way to the very sweet!

Additionally, Strange Matter has been so great at supporting local organizations in Lansing and are super invested in the community.
