Old Tavern Inn

I dropped by the Old Tavern Inn because I was interested in its claim of being Michigan’s oldest business. That is a cool feature, and there’s a nice booklet hanging near the bar that details the history, but the food and service were excellent too. The bartender was friendly and it seemed like a welcoming place. The food had big portions for decent prices, and the hot ham sandwich was way bigger than I expected. Both it and the cup of chili tasted great. If you’re in the area I’d definitely recommend giving the Old Tavern Inn a chance.

We wanted to see what this place had to offer after seeing it in a magazine. ZERO disappointment. Our server, Brooke, was awesome with recommendations, never let our glasses get empty. We left stuffed and pleased. If you're looking for elegance, this is not it. If you're looking for good food and plenty of it, I highly recommend.

We were visiting from Indiana Thursday evening on a motorcycle trip so decided to stop in for a snack was very impressed with the food and service will definitely be a go to bed on future trips. Plan on coming back Sunday and see if we have another great experience.

This is a terrific place! It's got everything you are looking for in a great dive bar. Food and service are excellent. Best fried pickle chips anywhere.

Historic place to Visit and Eat. The food has a Comfort Vibe very hearty and filling! Service was excellent. We Ordered The Full Hot Ham $9.50 and Full Goulash $8 the portions looked Amazing coming out and it was delicious!! We will Definitely be back for more. If your hungry come eat here leave full and pleased.

I have lived here all my life and my first time eating here. And it was absolutely wonderful. I have missed out on so many yrs.I had the Hot Ham&Cheese, and it was big enough to feed 2 people and made to perfection.The atmosphere was great. Come as you are kind of place looking forward to coming back to try the burgers.

Great Michigan tavern with delicious bar food, we had the Olive Burger and Wingies. The tavern was very busy. There was only one young lady in the back cooking and the other young lady was bartending, andtaking orders. They were awesome! Great friendly place!

Love the no frills atmosphere, and the bacon cheeseburger was awesome! No wonder they have been around since the 1830s!

The food was very good. The upcharge from fries to mushrooms was ridiculous!!

Historic restaurant -- an old stage coach stop. Has outstanding hamburgers and a friendly, helpful staff.

We love coming here to eat. Our waitress is always kind and she’s fast with service. Foods always good. We fill at home here and enjoy the atmosphere.

They have the best ham and cheese sandwich and there shrimp Dinner and chicken strips and Burgers are The Best Around Town. Great staff and the owners are so nice.

The oldest established business location in the State of Michigan, that is still operating today!! Great experience with children, had dinner, and got my power ball tickets. Win/win

Theirs is as close to the Ham sandwich that was sold at the B&L Inn I grew up with in Niles. So good. So glad we discovered this place. We will be regular customers.

I've always heard great things about the Ham Sandwich at this place and I can confirm it lives up to the hype. This Classic Ham & Cheese can't be outmatched! Owner is a cool guy too, love stopping in whenever I come back home.

We got the olive burger - which was fantastically yummy and the BLT, equally tasty, but I preferred the burger. Would be nice if burgers come with fries, but it's extra if you want any side item. Service was friendly. Clean. Decor reminds me of the old Gull Road Tavern (GRT) in Kalamazoo. Looks like your average neighborhood hangout bar that the locals go to. We'd recommend it and would go back.
