Blue Star Cafe & Ice Cream Treats

This is an absolute must for a solid comfort food breakfast spot. The biscuits and gravy were some of the best we’ve had in Michigan and the breakfast sandwich and omelette were fantastic. It gives off a “hole in the wall” vibe but that won’t matter when you taste the food. Anytime we are in Saugatuck we stop in for breakfast. Consistently delicious and friendly customer service.

Food was delicious. The place was small and cute, very busy on a late summer morning. We didn't have a wait at 10:45 a.m. but it looked like one started shortly after we got there. Our waitress was wonderful and got us started on drinks right away. She took our order and put it in but we had to wait about 30 minutes for our food. Not sure if that was because they were busy or what. There were only three of us, so it isn't like we were a huge party.

Once the food finally arrived it was hot and tasty and everyone got just what they ordered. I particularly loved that they served real shredded hash brown potatoes (where I live in New York, has browns are fried cubed potatoes, which are called home fries here). My husband ordered the home fries and said they were good but wished they'd included green peppers and onions like they serve back East. Well, I told him, that's what they do out here in the land of the Pop (not soda, lol).

The moral of the story is the Blue Star Cafe will serve up a tasty, inexpensive breakfast that's worth the wait. Try it!

Quintessential diner. One of the few breakfast places open on a Monday morning in the area. Lots of locals eat here and it’s clear why. Good food, big portions, great service, reasonably priced with throwback decor. Only 4 booths, 4 tables & 4 stools at the counter but we got seated right away. Plenty of patio seating outside on nice days. Would definitely return here.

Perfect lunch on a rainy Tuesday. No outdoor seating due to the thunderstorm but we were sat nearly immediately inside. They were pretty busy but we felt taken care of. The Gyro Nick and Detroiter Burger were both great, but my favorite was the spanakopita. It's probably the best I've ever had. Baklava was good too! This place is definitely worth trying for breakfast or lunch if you're in town.

First time stop! Cute little place! They Had a nice little patio with plenty of seating, some tables have shades, others do not. I don't think you can actually "Dine in(side). [I'll have to update but I belive all seating is actually outside]. For being a tiny little shop, their menu was quite large. Plenty of food and snack options to choose from (I didn't look much at the food menu as we ate on the way over). Ice cream is what we came for, and we were not disappointed! Great selections, easy read menu (imo), fast friendly service and amazing, cold treats!
Great for a pit stop, for a date, or maybe you want to come and just chill, literally!😉

Spotless clean restaurant, food was beautiful and cooked to perfection. We stayed overnight in area and tried it for breakfast. They weren’t busy but everything was spot on and waitresses were excellent

Very friendly and welcoming staff. Food gets A+. My daughter and I had grilled ham n cheese w/bacon. It was delicious! The bread is very good, not greasy. My fiance got burger w/bacon which was very good too. Dining room was open, very clean. No table side ordering, so you have to order at window like ice cream customers but line moved fairly quickly.

This is one on my favorite places to stop for breakfast or lunch when I'm driving through Douglas. The Greek plate is delicious, and the omelets are great. Also, they make a scrumptious Pancake! I've always had friendly service and never had to wait too long for my food, even when they're busy. All in all a great diner with affordable and tasty meals. Highly recommended.

Breakfast, lunch, dinner or dessert you can't go wrong. Diner atmosphere with outdoor seating as well as indoor. If you love ice cream this is your place. Very reasonable prices, friendly employees and great food.

The best restaurant in Saugatuck-Douglas... a little hidden gem. If you want a pretentious meal, go elsewhere. If you want delicious food with a Greek twist, this is it!

I visited this place a while back, and it was absolutely fantastic. The staff were quick to help and answer questions, and they were very friendly and professional. The prices are also quite fair for what you're getting in my opinion!

The cutest little cafe I ever did see! The food is extremely affordable, my friend and I gasped in shock when we saw our meals totaled to about 20 bucks for both (in a good way)! It had great wait times and everyone in the building was so nice. I left with a pep in my step and a smile on my face. It set me for a very successful day, definitely come here.

Had the breakfast special, a fluffy lil veggie omelet.. wait.. it had Ham... so good!! Lovely people, tiny space.

Went here for breakfast twice while on a mini vacation. Great menu, great tasting food, endless coffee refills and wonderful servers. I loved this great little place!

Just about anyting you want for comort food. Wear a bib or napkin whild you eat. Breakfast was amazing, just as we ordreed, and service quickly with a smile!

I go there every week for breakfast. I can never decide between the omelets. They all come a fantastic potato choice! Marci bread is my favorite. My girlfriend likes the single French toast as a bread. If you add the apple butter jam it tastes like apple pie.

In search of a decent order of biscuits and gravy, I stopped here and was not disappointed! Standard stuff for breakfast otherwise but service was good and I enjoyed sitting outside for breakfast.

We always love a good diner meal & the breakfast we had here was excellent. Great coffee, service & food. They have a walk up window as well where we plan to order an ice cream cone later.

It was a great stop for ice cream with the grand kids. Saw other people's plates and the food looks really good. Will stop for breakfast with them next time.
