Top Hat Coffee and Entertainment

So I visited this wonderful little coffee shop the other day on my lunch break and I was not disappointed! It has access from the front main street or a large parking lot in back. As soon as you walk into the stoop you feel the charm and atmosphere! This little shop feels much bigger than it really is, simply because of the way it's set up. The staff were very friendly and helpful to a newbie such as myself. I had a tuna salad crissont with clam chowder soup (which I've never had before and if all the rest are as good as theirs I'm a fan!) The sandwich was made to order and prepared behind what was once an old bank tellers counter, complete with bars! After ordering we sat at a fair sized table that was once a large spool for what I would guess would be power lines. The food was delicious, the staff came around and picked up our tray once they had time and the owner even visited us to ensure everything was great! On our way out we picked up a cappuccino an apple cider and a couple of cookies for the road and it was all wonderful! I know I've found myself a new hang out. If your looking for coffee in ottumwa, Top Hat is definitley Top Shelf!

Lunch at Top Hat was great! Tuna on croissant and roast beef wrap with a root beer float. Sandwiches are just enough but the root beer float was beyond awesome! Decor is always fun to look though as well!

Met up with some friends at Top Hat the other day. What a cool place! The space is really well done. The coffee and breakfast sandwich I had were delicious. And the staff was great. Support small business! You won't be disappointed

The owner is a really exceptional person. The owner of this restaurant also owns the soup kitchen behind the building. So by supporting the restaurant you also support with soup kitchen. They serve about 300 people or so a week.

One of my favorite lunch/coffee/business meeting spots in the region. Super friendly and attentive staff with a wonderful atmosphere and attention to cleanliness. The food though is fantastic -- rotating DAILY HOMEMADE soups. Love the Chicken Salad Croissant and the Tomato Basil Bisque. I enjoy bringing clients for business meetings here as well. It's also good to know that a portion of each sale helps run the soup kitchen in the back!

I walked in. I received two smiles and complement on my suit. Asked about breakfast and got full order of biscuits and gravy(on point delicious) and a jumbo blueberry muffin. $ 6.95 within 3 min was seated and eating. great service and nice atmosphere.I would love to have an option for juice at least rather than only coffee or tea but it is a coffee shop.

Beautiful 1870's architecture!

Top Hat is such a wonderful and cheerful place to be. The staff is just amazing. And you couldn't ask for better company than the owners Gary and Sherri. And love going to watch the live entertainment when I get a chance!

I love coming here! The atmosphere is great and the staff are always friendly and kind. Plus, the Italian Cream Sodas are amazing!! I am so happy I found this place, I would definitely recommend it!

Adorable, fun coffee shop with a great retro, small town vibe.

* Good coffee and tea, reasonably priced.
* Friendly barista.
* Warm, casual environment.
* Nice long hours Monday through Saturday.
* Only negative comment I can think of is that they're closed on Sunday. I understand that this is small city and that it's nice for employees, but being closed all dsy Sunday is a shame.
* Regardless, this is definitely a gem in Ottumwa and I hope this shop prospers!

Friendly baristas! Chill atmosphere, yummy coffee drinks and treats. The gal that served us even gave us a free cookie. Idk, just a vibe we've been looking for :) we will definitely be back

Really cute little coffee place got these little cookie things that were great. Had almond milk as an alternative. The server mentioned they were going to be getting oat milk. Cant wait to go back again!!

Great staff and drinks are delicious. They have free Wifi and outlets next to the booths to plug in your phone, laptop, etc. I love their low lighting bc it creates tranquility. Their strawberry milkshake is a must! I also like their caramel macchiato and for those who want something with less calories, try the caramel macchiato skinny. 😉

The food is fresh and super delicious, the staff is polite, the cafe is clean, the whole place looks really cool and comfy. It's a good opportunity to come and study or do your work.

An amazing coffee house with wonderful treats! I can't make a trip to Ottumwa without stopping by Top Hat. It's the perfect environment to get work done, or just relax.

One of the best lunch spots in Southeast Iowa. If they have the chicken pot pie in the menu order that and the Italian Cream Soda's are amazing.
