Fabled Bookshop & Cafe

A cute bookstore with a cozy bookshop. Reminded me of coffee shops from movies. It had a really warm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff were very friendly. Lots of books and a decent size. I would say it’s a gem in Waco, Texas. I appreciate the variety in genres. Plenty of spots to sit and read, work, chat with your friends. If I visit Waco again this will be a definite visit for me and my husband.

Great service and atmosphere. The coffee was excellent. It also has a cute selection of book-related items for purchase. I got several cards and pins.

I have been mid day on a weekend so it was pretty busy and lively but during the week it much quieter and better place to sit down and work.

Fabled is pure magic, a unicorn in a world filled with coffee shops and bookstores, the hidden gem of Waco, a darling little shop that I feel so lucky to have found! This indy shop holds my heart. They offer not just delicious lattes, matcha (iced blackberry matcha is my favorite), and cookies (the triple chip is ridiculously yummy!), plus an incredible selection of books and unique items perfect for gifts, but also gorgeous decor with an intentional focus on happy indoor plants that makes me want to move in and make myself at home! The natural light that floods through the floor to ceiling windows just adds to the nature-centric charm of Fabled. The furniture follows the whimsical woodsy nature theme and is very comfortable. The selection of gift items is phenomenal, from beautiful Rifle Paper Co journals to book lover t-shirts to clever stickers to literary themed puzzles, they offer something for any gifting need. I love the vibe and all that Fable offers so much that for several months I drove once a week to work at Fabled for the day even though I live 1 hr 15 min away. The staff are all super friendly, inviting, and knowledgeable. I love the handwritten notes from staff on their favorite books displayed around the shop. If they don’t have a book you’re looking for, they can order it for you. The kid’s room is so fun, with a Narnia theme and carefully picked books, games, stuffed animals, and other cute items. I can’t recommend Fabled enough!

Loved this independent book store! When we visited there were a lot of authors with book tables available to chat with and it was such an amazing experience.

TEN OUT OF TEN EXPERIENCE!! Absolutely loved this books shop, their merch and their coffee/wine! We came as part of a bachelorette trip and it was fantastic. One of the book buyers actually helped us pick out books! Such a cool experience!! Wish I could bring them home with me lol

Such a great bookshop in the heart of the area. Everything is easy to find, and I loved all the staff recommendations throughout the store. Coffee was delicious & the staff were extra sweet! Heard about this bookshop through an Instagram reel and I’m so glad I took the drive over to check them out! Will definitely be back!

If you are a book person, this is for you. Takes you back to days where mom & pop bookstores existed and I loved that I stumbled on this one while exploring downtown Waco. Decor was so inviting with comfortable. Plenty of sunshine spots but also "hidden" dark corners to tuck away in to study. Had charm and nice mix of mystery to it. Stations for studying available which were all full.
The group I was with was able to take a break while I explored the shelves. Cute little coffee bar serving sandwiches, salads, hand held treats. I got the lemonade with pop rocks, sorry I forget the name. So fun and refreshing!
The children's book section was super adorable. Wall to wall books and trinkets! I found a cute onesie for my granddaughter that read" First Edition" ! How cute is that!
Love supporting local. This one was a nice bonus stop to check out!

The place has a nice design.
Especially the secret wardrobe entrance that is a reference to the book Narnia.
They have a cafe and a place to sit chairs to relax and sip a nice drink.
Their is also a puzzle so anyone can do if they want to channel their mental focus.
Saw it on social media so really wanted to go.
Highly recommend

My favorite place in Waco! Even though Fabled is a relatively small store it has an excellent selection that is very well curated. They have outstanding service as well. In fact, I happened to be in on my birthday a couple of years ago and when it came up in conversation that it was my birthday the bookseller gave me a token for a free drink at the cafe (which was delicious). I’ve moved from Waco now and Fabled is one of the things I miss most of all.

I absolutely loved this place! I always love checking out cute local bookstores whenever I visit somewhere new and Fabled Bookshop and Cafe didn't disappoint. It had a wide variety of books, merchandised and displayed beautifully in front then more shelves in back for those not featured. There were many great employee book recommendations written by the books (I ended up buying three of those because of the recommendations!). I shopped for a bit then sat down with my laptop to get a bit of work done. The cafe has several coffee and tea options, but by far my favorite is they offer beer and wine to order!😍 This is definitely my happy place. If you want wifi while you are there, there is a little mug on the Cafe counter with passwords that are good for 2 hours at a time and they offer free water. I definitely recommend this bookstore for anyone in the area!

Cute Bookshop that we stopped at while in Waco for a college visit at Baylor. I loved the vibe, and the staff was amazing. I had an exciting conversation with the cashier about the book I was purchasing, and she was so sweet.

Great bookshop! They have literary inspired coffee drinks and wine available in the evening. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It was populated by a lot of Baylor college students and I can understand why. Make sure to check out clearance towards the back, the children’s room, and the surprise book options at the front. Hope to come back if I’m ever in Waco again!

This is the cutest little bookshop/cafe ever! I wish I had something like this near me. So whimsical and cosy. The children's section is so fun with a special Narnia entrance through a wardrobe.

Absolutely lovely little (big) book shop and cafe in downtown Waco. The coffee was superb, the coffee cake was yummy, but the decor and whole experience there was everything you hope for when you go to a book shop & cafe. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable and it was the perfect spot for me to meet a few friends and hang out for awhile. Next time I'm in the area I'll definitely be back.

I stopped in for the first time as I had heard so much good stuff about this place. It’s amazing! The book selection and personal touches of the handwritten staff picks are so inviting. It’s so well organized and easy to navigate. They have plenty of cozy spots to sit and relax, study, or have a quick coffee and bite to eat. The children’s section is definitely a highlight as well. It made me want to be a kid just to fully enjoy it. I absolutely recommend this place.

Stopped here on a whim during a day trip in Waco. Did not regret it, it's a beautiful store with all the accommodations for any book lover, or just a place to hang out and enjoy the café atmosphere. They don't have the largest book selection, but in any section they have recommended books with personal descriptions from the employees. The accents, like the walk-through wardrobe in the kids area, the dragon in the wall, and the giant owl statue are such great accents. Warning though; the chairs up front will eat you and never let you go.

So carefully curated! This space had me mentally building Christmas lists in FEBRUARY because every other shelf has something unique and interesting. The coffeeshop is lovely and there's a great collection of seating for working while enjoying this atmosphere

This was such a pleasant experience! I had the sleeping beauty and a savory scone from the cafe and they were both amazing. I was also able to cross off some of my Christmas shopping. Great stationary and book selection. The employees were all super sweet and hospitable. I will definitely be going back on my next trip to Waco!
