I was at Ferguson plumbing supply in McKinney to purchase a water pressure gauge because my water pressure had dropped substantially. While there I met Timothy who is a plumber for Hutchins Plumbing & Air Conditioning. Timothy heard me talking to the sales clerk and asked me a couple questions about when the problem started and characteristics of the pressure loss. We talked about potential reasons and he explained different things that could be checked to verify the problem and not just spend money making guesses and replacing things that do not need to be fixed. After talking to Timothy I felt confident he would be someone I trust to do the job right and minimize expense. I called Hutchins Plumbing and A/C to schedule an appointment and Timothy came out to see what the underlying issue was to disrupt our water flow. Timothy had his assistant with him (I can’t remember his name but he was awesome too) and they began the process of looking for the water cutoff that is between the city water meter and the house. They gently moved mulch and dirt around my wife’s rose bushes minimizing damage to the plants. Finally after some digging and poking in the most likely area, they found the box buried in about 4 inches of dirt. They cleared away the dirt and opened the box which was packed full of dirt. They carefully cleared away the dirt to minimize potential damage to pipes and valves. Once they dig down about 12-13 inches, they found the cutoff valve and it appeared to be working properly which concerned me that if that wasn’t the problem then we would possibly have to re-pipe the waterline if it had been kinked or clogged. Timothy and his assistant were not convinced it was a problem with the main water line and continued pulling more dirt from the water/utility box. Much to my relief, they found the pressure release valve. They felt certain that the pressure release valve had failed and caused the water restriction. I had them replace the pressure release valve and the water cutoff valve too. They made adjustments to the water/utility box so it is now visible and accessible and did an excellent job in keeping things as tidy as they could with minimal if any damage to our roses and drip system. I highly recommend Timothy and his assistant (Collin? Colton? Dalton? 😄) and Hutchins Plumbing & A/C for your home repair needs. They did a lot of work, kept me informed every step of the way and our water pressure is excellent. Thanks guys we really appreciate you.

As we know ratings are critical and my experience has been anything but a 2.8 with Hutchins Plumbing & Air Conditioning. After trying to replace a toilet on my own with limited success I placed a call and within 90 minutes had a professional and friendly plumber at our home. The toilet leak was fixed and I paid what I considered to be a fair price for the work. Unfortunately, water being water, it found another point to escape and a follow-up call was placed. My rating of 5 reflects not only my initial interactions with the company but more importantly how they took ongoing ownership of the quality of their work. I received a call from the owner directly who took personally responsibility for remediation and am happy to report we are leak free.

Update on first review: Almost one year later, Hutchins took care of us again, when the existing dust work and zoning system needed replacement. As always, they were well priced, considerate and took great care of us!!

We closed on our new house and within 24 hours, the entire AC system died. After an unresponsive home warranty refused to help, Hutchins stepped in. Their installers arrived on time and worked to get the new unit installed.

We couldn't be happier with the experience! August in Texas is no time to have to get a new AC, but they really made it as painless as possible.

I called Hutchins on a Saturday morning, (August) the tech resuscitated the old sys. It was tripping breaker, trying to tell me last couple days. By Tuesday I had Donnell and crew replacing the 18 y.o. sys AND correcting the previous installation shortcuts taken by the home builder and then the following unit. Hutchins did such a great job creating an easy access to the system in the hallway including a door and real air flow to the unit. I also had ductwork replaced. There were issues that extended the installation a bit longer than the general public "allows". The job was not a normal installation when you have to correct old funky work. The time needed to get the job done was well worth it. My husband and I have had a lot of work done by Hutchins, plumbing, breaker panel and now a brand new top down AC heat pump sys that works so well! My electric bill went down the first 2 weeks of the new sys up. The thermostat is great, Goodman sys. Great service organization. I need to call them now to replace some old plumbing.

Hutchins earned my future business by not doing work for me when I called them. .. you see instead of fixing the simple plumbing issue I called them for with the $600 solution I requested, they showed me how I could spend $50 and fix it myself in a few minutes. I'm thrilled to have found a local company I can trust.

Made an appt for a commercial HVAC inspection and they were the only company who could come out the quickest, which was good for me. Cost was also excellent. Technician actually arrived early and finished early. Left a report for me. I was able to pay over phone with CC since our times mismatched. Would use again for sure.

VERY RESPONSIVE! Great prices on service agreements! In June they found time to come out on a Saturday to service my AC. It was hot! I called and left a message online and they responded in 24 hrs! I have pets that are older and would die if my AC went out while I am at work. My AC was suffering and blowing dust everywhere! We had done construction and the dust was terrible. Ick! They checked and serviced the AC, changed the heavy duty filter on my unit (I had one on hand because it is a 4" think carbon filter) and took care of the outside unit. They really saved the day!

The plumber came out within the window time frame that was quoted and did a fast and excellent job on my kitchen sink. No mess. No stress.

Called them to get an estimate on putting up a ceiling fan on a regular (not high) ceiling. They would not give an estimate over the phone. With good reason. $69 service trip, which is fine, as it would have been included into the cost if I had them do the work. The electrician who came over was a great guy, very professional. But the prices quoted were astronomical. $230 for the first fan??? Would have ended up charging over $150/hour. Insane! Should have been a red flag when they would not even give me a ball park figure on how much it would cost. Expensive! But must be good to have lasted for so many years, however too rich for me.
After I wrote his review, read some of the others. Guess they are too expensive for a lot of people. Wish them well, but I will not be calling them back to my place for any further work... Wish I had used a proper computer instead of looking them up on my iPhone.

I just want to add my comment to others in an effort to help someone making a choice of plumbing Companies. This is our experience only, and it may differ from others. We had a minor leak under the sink in our master bath. I attempted to repair the leak, and I was not successful. Rather than continue trouble shooting my wife refered to the yellow pages. They do run a nice ad. The service many came out, very polite, and said he would work on the "peeTrap" under the sink for "$286. That had been the first thing I tried and felt it was not the problem.. BUT $286... WOW that was nuts for a peetrap, and very doubtful that was the problem, as the service man said it would be more if the peetrap was not the problem. We sent him on his way, and he wanted $69.00 for a trip charge to tell us "NOTHING". We called another plumber "Reeves Family Plumbing". They were out the next morning at 7:30 sharp. It was NOT the peetrap. The line was stopped up due to the air conditioning drainage and they ran a rooter through the line cleaned it out. Checked for other leakage, and a charge of $128.00. It is my thought that the Hutinson guy would have said the obvious the peetrap was not the problem and charge us another overpriced fee. Like someone else probaly in the $500 range while they tried different causes.

We've used Hutchins for over 5 years, but I had to change my review after they wanted us to wait a week with a broken AC, even though we'd just bought a service contract with them. When I told them we'd have to call another company who could come out sooner, they said fine. I asked about getting a refund on the unused service contract and the guy said someone would call me back. No one ever called. That was a $500 loss. Buyer beware.

Never never never do business with this company. Needed some work done on a toilet and was charged $486 for a stopper inside the toilet and a $15 piece of equipment that goes in your toilet. When I offered to pay a reasonable price, which they could not quote me one on the phone, they refused so I refuse to pay. THEY filed a lien on my house.

Went to the address they have listed on google maps, and they do not exist there. I cannot trust a company that lies about having a location, how can you?
