Asheville Gem Mine

We had a wonderful time at Asheville Gem mine and Sam was so helpful and knowledgeable! Even a bunch of adults felt like kids again and we went home with bags of gems!! Would recommend for fun for all ages.

I have gem mined every year in North Carolina and this year we picked Asheville. Reese at Asheville Gem Mine went above and beyond with my grandkids. They absolutely loved it !! If I could give 100 stars I sure would. Never going to any of the other mine's again.

My partner and I walked in on a whim and left with pounds of crystals! We started with a small bucket of dirt and found tons of beautiful crystals. We had to get the larger bucket after that. We were thinking about the emerald, ruby, and sapphire bucket, but with the help of the employee, decided to go with the similarly-priced bucket that had pieces of each of those more rare rocks and two geodes we got to crack open and look at under a microscope! The guys working there were super nice and helpful. You can tell that they enjoy what they do. I would love to return!

We had a wonderful time at Asheville Gem Mine. The store is kid friendly, clean, and organized. The staff was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. My kids had several questions and they were all answered by the staff with kindness and enthusiasm. We will definitely visit again on our next trip to Asheville!

Absolutely love this place! They have a large selection of crystals and rocks and fossils. They have jewelry, display stones, and some raw stones. We had a blast with their prospecting buckets. Asheville Gem Mine has a little river style water feature where you can pay for a bucket filled with sand and stones. You pan for your own gems! We got the smallest bucket and found so much. My favorite find was a mosaur dinosaur tooth! It's definitely fun for kids, but even at 21 I had a blast. The employee was so knowledgeable and helped us identify all our finds.

Our family had a wonderful, fun time. Our age ranges were four to 85. We got the small buckets and found plenty of beautiful gems. The guys in the shop made the experience so much fun. They told us what all the stones were and actually cared if we had a nice time. You don't get that kind of customer service these days. You could tell they enjoyed sharing their knowledge. Thank you! Cannot wait to go back.

I felt such good energy in this shop and Sam was very kind! We could’ve spent much more time in there but were just passing through. We’ll be back to do some gem mining and get a Turkish lamp ;)

Such a great little shop. The staff member was so incredibly nice on this beautiful sunny sunday and just walking into store made me relaxed!

Great experience, awesome store. Employee very nice. Huge inventory of interesting items. We did the gem dig with regular bucket for $12. Kids loved it, and walked away with full sandwich bag of gems.

My son is a huge gemstone collector and we had the time of our lives at this shop. Right off the bat Sage took an interest in an opal my son brought in. He was very informative and really took interest, you can tell he loves what he does and loves gemstones. We ended up gemstone mining. Which is really cool being inside and all. We found some great gemstones and had Sam and Sage close by to not only answer questions, but much like us, get excited with the great gems we were finding. We ended up coming back to the store 3 times that day, buying everything from bismuth to mosasaurus teeth. After ordering at the Mellow Mushroom we actually walked back over to get our last little bit of fun in. These people are phenomenal and they know why. My son has set up a gem shop in his room now stocked with so many good finds including a newly acquired, very special meteorite which hasn't left his side since we brought it home. I will absolutely be going back the next time I'm in Asheville.

Visited this store on Monday, 1/29/24, during a getaway and I could have spent ALL DAY there. Such fun!!!! 😊 Lily O'Leary waited on me and she was very knowledgeable and also personable! Thanks!

A surprisingly interesting place, more than just a store. Kids had lots of fun sifting sand and finding crystals, we purchased small bucket size packs and they got a lot of cool stuff. Very nice atmosphere, guys are helpful and passionate about their business.

Had the best time today at Asheville gem mine. Got the 100$ bucket for 3 kids and it was more than a 3,4,and 7 year old could handle. The owner is very sweet and very nicely answered any of our questions while mining or about anything in the shop we were looking at. This was our 2and trip there and will be returning for our 3rd trip for sure.

We stopped here while visiting Asheville. Very cool place! Lots of beautiful gems in any color imaginable. They have gem mining for kids. Buckets range from $15.99 and up. We did the smallest bucket they offer for our son and it was plenty. He mined a whole zip lock bag full of stones. The store employee was super nice and even identified everything my son found. Very cool place! Highly recommend it if passing thru downtown . There’s a Public parking lot across the street not very far away. A 2 minute walk up the street.

Our kids ages 4&5 spent the whole day going through their gems and trading them with each other while we enjoyed brewery hoping! Win win!

We got the small bucket to mine our own gems, and we couldn't believe how many incredible gems we got for $16. We love this place! And the young lady who works here is so fun and nice and knowledgeable. A great experience!

What an incredible shop!! They have an amazing variety of crystals and jewelry. The staff is so attentive and knowledgeable, and answered all of my questions! I can’t wait to stop back through the next time I’m in Asheville. Also is smelled AMAZING inside

We decided to take some time and do a little shopping in Asheville while we had a day to kill. We had no idea where to go and I didn't want to have to pay for parking. We drove around for a little bit and I found a handicap space to use. Knowing I'd be walking I grabbed my cane and we started down the street we were on. The kids saw the store and decided it was our first stop. Generally not my kind of place but it turned out to be really nice. The people that work there were friendly and helpful. They had a wide variety of rocks and stones along with many other items including a bunch of taxidermied bugs. I took a whole bunch of pictures and sent some to a friend of ours who was in Puerto Rico and I knew they would like stuff. They thoroughly enjoyed all the items we saw. In the end I think each of us made a purchase. There wasn't really anything for me personally but I found a gift for my one other kid and their birthday is coming up. I would recommend spending time in the area here if you were staying in or around Ashville. So many great stores and so little time.
