House of Kismet

I am a bride looking for a vintage wedding dress, and I scheduled a private appointment to try on the ones I had interest in. Maiza was efficient and flexible when I needed to change the appointment. I worked with Sarah during the appointment, and I found her down-to-earth, patient, honest, funny, and clearly loved the clothes in the collection. The experience was warm and inviting, and I ended up with a beautiful dress. I would highly recommend it!

This place is not mentioned much in local travel guides and even when talking to locals. I visited from out of town and happened to wander in while on my way to another vintage store. It is so well curated with actual vintage clothing at reasonable prices. Other stores in the area put up thrift clothing at vintage prices but House of Kismet is the real deal. We found plenty of items and the staff was really helpful. One of Asheville’s best for sure.

My Husband and I shopped in Kismet today. We met the owner and she was most helpful, pulling items of the styles I mentioned I liked to try on. This was most helpful since it was a first time visit and there was an abundance of choices. I bought two lovely wraps, one was navy cashmere and One cream fringed that was a wool blend and appears to be hand woven. Both were fabulous finds. The store was also very well organized. They always have a unique and curated selection of vintage items- definitely worth checking out!

This is a beautifully curated store in the heart of a really special up-and-coming shopping/arts district. Sara and her team have assembled a truly special experience that goes beyond just looking for something cool to wear. We stopped in there a few months ago with six adults and three boys, ranging in age from 6-15. We spent over an hour looking at the wares - there really is something for everyone. The teenager got an awesome leather jacket from the 70s that he wears all the time. Anyway, highly recommend House of Kismet!

Some excellent vintage kitchen & home wares including blankets, furniture, lights, linens, as well as some really amazing vintage art.
They also have an incredible jaw dropping vintage wedding collection, though fittings & viewings by appointment only.
Apparently you can also rent the space for events or classes. All around a really neat store in a really cool area of Asheville.

The store has lovely things, but the owner/person working was talking very rudely about the vintage store next door Wildflowers. When customers asked if they should check out next door the owner/person working said false exaggerated information about the store that made them not go. It disgusted me seeing this. Small businesses not supporting other small businesses for no reason is frowned upon and I will not support House of Kismet.

Sadly I was asked to return a painting that they sold to me below their believed value to “save face with their boss,” their words. They said they issued a refund before I had even returned from going back to retrieve the painting from my car. They have no phone number, I never received my refund, and left without a painting, all because I came back in to try and purchase the missing piece to the set, if they found it.
My options were to pay the difference of their still guessed amount, because they never found a price listed for it, but were making guesses from $12 to $60, (which was double my research) or return the painting, when I looked up the painting, as only half a set, it was only worth half of what they were asking me to pay.
I have tried to find a phone number to discuss the money spent without refund, but have had zero luck. After time passed of being so thrown off by their request at the time, myself and everyone I’ve shared the experience with was appalled by this lack of professionalism, mind you over less than $20 by actual value.
Sad and looking for another version of this painting. But still hoping to speak to the owner and get a refund, or the painting.
