Franklin Point State Park

Love this park, one of my favorites for walking the pooch! From the small gravel parking lot there is a gravel walkway leading into the park. Ah you walk down the gravel path you'll see a trail split off to your left, that is the main hiking trail! The trail is very easy to follow if you are careful to watch for the White square trail markers; just always make sure you see the marker you're currently working toward and find the next marker to go to once you get there, you can't really get lost. There is a great little spot with a picnic table to stop and rest in the middle. After roughly a mile there is a split in the trail marked with 2 routes to choose (a shorter one and a longer one as noted on the sign). Both are great! Once you finish the train you'll find yourself at a road; turn left and walk a bit down the road to get back to the parking lot.

If you don't take the trail to the left from the main path you can follow that path a short way to a short walking path with a few picnic tables along the waterside, and some benches to rest on; very scenic! That trail loops back on itself to take you back to the parking lot and is very short.

There is 1 portapotty in the parking lot, but no trash cans so please be careful to clean up any trash you bring!

Beautiful State Park! Well maintained trails that go in an awesome loop. Great water views with lots of birds and many different species of trees.

I've read a few of the other reviews of this park that appear to be written by those that don't go outside much. This park is awesome, be prepared and enjoy!

A great park, trails are well blazed and the water views are very nice. Very muddy in spots, branches/wood planks have been put down to get over the worst of it. Look for a swan or two on the water!

Well marked trail. Bring your mud boots. Good views, occasional bench. Small parking lot and port-o-pottie.

Always enjoy our walks here. Just wish there were more trails.

Good local place for a wooded hike and a picnic near the waters edge. Been here a few times and am never disappointed.

Love, love, love this place!! Never too crowded. Great bird watching. Trails are well marked.

This place is amazing during the fall and is great in the winter if you dress right.
