Gerald I. Lawhorn Scouting Base

This place is beautiful. Beautiful scenery plenty of trails have canoeing and rivers they have lakes and Hills and mountains they also have JROTC competitions once in awhile.

One of the best camps in Georgia. Had a blast canoeing down the Flint River. Wooded sites, platform tents and nice amenities.

We love this campground. Definitely recommend for excellent facilities and immaculate landscaping. Can’t wait to return!

The campground was fun. Friendly atmosphere. Only thing negative was that the night was cold but we can't change the weather

Lovely camp. This is the adventure side of Camp Thunder so it is a little bit more family friendly since it has a playground, pavilion, large fields, and facilities. Camp Thunder itself is also just a friendly except it doesnt have the large playground. I personally recommend staying a weekend on both sides but the choice is yours. The camp as a whole is all around a great camp site!

Great place for the JROTC Raider event

This was our base camp for the 6 hour Canoe trip down the Flint river from the boy scout camp great fun

Perhaps I'm biased as this was my local council's summer camp and I worked there for many summers and winters, but I will say that Lawhorn (Camp Thunder) is a great camp with decent facilities and some great staff. The best time to enjoy this camp is in the off season in my humble opinion because you can enjoy all the joys of the camp with less of the crowd. That said it's definitely worth visiting it during summer to experience the camp at full functionality.

Restrooms were clean, scenery was fantastic, shelters and playground on the Adventure side are fantastic. Highly recommend.

Best bathrooms for a camping site. Very well organized. We have a blast. There is a Donkey that is very loud at night make sure to bring ear plugs.

Awesome playground, and such a great place for a scout camp! There are way to many amenities to list and the huge pavilion is great place to stay out of the sun.

Went to watch my niece who is in the Rangers with her school, Beautiful place, very peaceful with that being said I have to say this ABSOLUTELY NO cell phone reception!
