Cousin Willie's Smokehouse

If you are in the area, go to Cousin Willie's! My hubby and I are on a road trip from the cold, snowy area north of the Mason Dixon line to Ft Myers, Florida. We stopped for gas and a late lunch and found Cousin Willie's. With the gigantic concrete pig outside, we just had to try it. We ordered the three meat platter with beef, pork, and turkey to split. We picked baked beans and fried okra as the side dishes and it came with two slices of garlic bread. Everything was delicious! And it's probably the best turkey I've ever had - very juicy and tender. The food was excellent as well as the service. I ranked the atmosphere five stars as well because it's very clean, but be aware this is not a fine dining experience. The decor is fun and quirky.

Stopped in one Saturday evening recently. As I walked in it wasn't very busy. As I took my seat, a young waitress comes over, and advises they were out of pork, beef, chicken wings, and a few other things that escape my mind right now. I opted for a two meat combo of turkey and sausage. I have to say that was the best turkey I have gotten at a barbecue restaurant anywhere in Jacksonville. The baked beans were very good, the mac and cheese left a little to be desired but that's understandable since I came so late in the evening. I most definitely recommend this establishment, and I will definitely be going back. I also will use them for catering. It's not very often I'm impressed with a barbecue joints turkey, but, this time it was outstanding. The turkey had plenty of flavor, was not dry, and did not taste like processed meat like other local establishments. Don't be fooled by the little hole in the wall appearance, try it out. You won't be sorry. UPDATE: Visited again during lunch on a weekday, this time pulled pork & turkey combo with beans and mac & cheese. Had to retry the mac. It was very good and highly recommend.

Really great Brunswick Stew and well made BBQ. I might have to ask for some fattier slices of brisket next time, but if you like lean, you'll love this. The bike rack out front is convenient for Baldwin Rail Trail users like me today. Will visit again.

There's nothing quite like family run small town BBQ. Cousin Willie's fits the bill, complete with curbside pig and a wooden indian. The menu is fairly typical for a BBQ joint until you spy the pulled pork nachos and beef enchiladas noted on the chalkboard daily menu! The grill and smoker magicians in the back are up to snuff when it comes to making your hunger disappear. Go ahead and get the three meat sampler! It is the only way to keep your fork off the plate next to you.

Cousin Willie's is one of those rare gem's that you find only in small towns. The front of the store sports a pig wearing a saddle which ads to the welcoming atmosphere. The staff are hometown folk's who are attentive and proficient. The prices are more than reasonable. The store is clean and bright. The food is worth how ever far you have to travel to get there. You can not find better bbq within 100 miles. I recommend you try it.

Busy Friday night, they were out of many things...but still had PORK.
Caps because they really give you plenty.
If you love meat...this is your place. (Even the salads come with meat. :-D )
BBQ sauce adds extra flavor.
Had Pork nachos ...without any sauce - the meat was great...nice big pulled some char to it....the sauce put it over the edge.
The cheese sauce.. may be hit or miss...so may want that on the side. They put just the right amount on my order not to over power it.
The first place that I actually would've liked a bit more lettuce on my nachos...but who can complain for skimping on lettuce. LOL :-D.
Jo Jo, our waitress, and her helper (?)...were great. Pleasant and non stop workers.
Can tell it was a hectic day, but still had service with a smile.
My husband liked it so much...we will be back! (Had to convince him that we have to be on the road before they re-open..and still full from last night's meal.)

Great place to eat the smokehouse burger and their fries were amazing! The owner came out to great us and made us feel welcome. Great service definitely recommend.

Everything is absolutely wonderful and the people who work here are awesome. Try them, we have been here several times, you will love Cousin Wille's!!!! Best barbecue around....

Just damn good ribs. Fall off the bones and also get the corn nuggets. Worth the detour off the highway leaving Jacksonville headed north. Don’t miss this place.

We love this place! We stop in for take out whenever we can. Their home cut fries are the best.

Hands down, some of the best bbq I've ever had. You can tell the staff really loves what they do here, and that carries through to the excellent food. You also get well more than your money's worth with the portions. Can't recommend enough.

Pleasant family restaurant worth the 7 min drive from the freeway. Had 2 meat meal with pulled pork and brisket. Both very tasty. Bbq beans and coleslaw were great. Good portion and reasonable prices. Home made sauces were tasty. Definitely another visit on my list.

Omgoodness " the best bbq every""" everything was delicious and taste like a mothers/grandmother's food....didn't have that process taste..... more food than you get anywhere for the price...friendly people .....hard working' family owned.... I WILL BE BACK.....just DELICIOUS.....

Really good Deep South barbecue. Even the bread is some of the best I’ve ever had. Cleanest bathrooms I’ve seen in a place like this.

Every time I eat out my food is always wrong. But this place was very affordable the service was awesome But my food was absolutely perfect!!! Best ribs around . Thank you for making spending my hard earned money worth while and keep up the great work

I had the turkey and sausage plate with Brunswick stew and fries. Everything was sooo good. The meat was perfect. The service was good. We will definitely go back.

Delicious bbq and you get a lot of food for your money! Stopped here on a road trip, got a lunch sized rib plate ( trust me that’s a perfect size, dinner plate would be too much to eat for one person because ribs are huge… (2 people could probably eat a dinner plate of ribs, lunch too to be honest lol) and after getting into the second rib I was starting to slow down and get full lol also forced myself to finish 2 sides, had to bring my last rib to go so I’m glad I went with the lunch style portion instead of the dinner plate…I would definitely recommend this place if you want good portions for the money…waitstaff also friendly…ready for my nap after that good meal lol
