Shuckin' Shack Oyster Bar

This is a must stop for lunch or dinner. We like to go for lunch because it gets very popular for dinner and there’s often a wait. The atmosphere is so fun and family friendly. They have several TVs playing a variety of sports. The service is always friendly and impeccable. Their seafood is delicious and fresh. We always get oysters on the half shell, of which they have local and farther away. They do oyster shooters of different varieties, beach style cocktails, and lots of beer. For our week long vacation, we usually try to go here twice. Have been to the destinations in Frederick MD and Wilmington and this is the very best one.

This was our first stop on our way to Topsail & I’m glad we went! The host was friendly and gave a great first impression of the restaurant. We didn’t wait long, especially for a Friday night before we were seated.

This was our first time so our server was very helpful with suggestions. We went with a low country boil, blackened chicken Alfredo and shrimp & grits. They were ALL so good! The portions are generous and well worth the price. Every dish was exploding with flavor.

We were looking for a seafood place in topsail
& took a chance on this one . Reviews didn’t lie . We had hangover fries for appetizer they were AMAZING the ranch was so good ! They oysters were amazinggggg . The shrimp was a little underwhelming but no bad just didn’t taste fully seasoned. The drinks ON POINT . I was good with one they deff don’t hold back on the tequila . Overall I would absolutely recommend for good food & good drinks !

A wonderful option for a meal minutes from the shore; they offer a patio to the side, tables inside, and bar seating (with multiple screens for games and more). I arrived mid dinner rush and tables were full, so they offered some drinks and apps while waiting on the patio. The staff was friendly and the company at the bar pleasant for chat alongside dinner. Fresh seafood and minutes from a beautiful view? Yes!

Coming from the beach, we were looking for a dog friendly place. They have a covered outdoor area, and huge fan to cool off. The food was great and service was excellent. Many thanks to Sara - thank you for the hospitality and appreciated the kindness to our Airdale puppy. Many thanks and looking forward to coming back!

Great local place. Stopped in for lunch. We had blackened shrimp tacos, blackened mahi tacos, and the crabtrap. Everything was delicious! Overflowing amount of shrimp in the tacos. Nice size portion of mahi. Crab trap filled with meat, not filler, had a nice crunch on the outside.

All staff were very friendly and seemed to work well together. And checked on all tables and helped clear things away.

Awesome food! Really enjoyed it so much we went back the next night.

Third trip update: food and service still top shelf. This time, we tried the shark tacos (per server recommendation) for "shark week". I could eat them everyday if they were available. Thanks for another awesome dinning experience.

Geat spot for fresh seafood. Nice little resturant, great food, fair prices and great service. We always go here 2 or 3 times while we are down for vacation.

This place is very good and delicious to eat at. I was just there and it was a party of six. The server was amazing and very friendly. We loved the food. My favorite was the snow crab legs and calamari. The chocolate cake was really good and every bite was delicious. I will definitely come back here. Even the atmosphere of the area was very relaxing and at peace. If you’re in the mood for seafood, this is the best place to go to.

We had a blast. Great location with a happy go feel vibe. Wonderful seafood. We got a few dozen oysters, the Mexican Bullfighter, the Seafood Trio, and the Greggah. Add a few margaritas into the mix with the Best Fries Ever and you can’t have anything but a good time! I highly recommend this place.

This restaurant is such a vibe. It excludes sandy, beach fun. The service was fast and efficient. While it was busy, due to the Kentucky derby viewing, we were seated at the bar. There’s plenty of options, but the highlight of the menu is the low country boils. We ordered Saul T’s steampot and added the potato/sausage per the servers suggestion. It was the perfect amount of food for two people.

This place is busy and fun. It has a lively atmosphere, happy people, amazing employees, and fantastic food. We came on Halloween weekend. They have it completely decked out in decorations and everyone's wearing costumes. Such a fun party. We ordered the nachos and fish and chips and it was ready in minutes. Amazingly fast service. We met the owners personally as they were there to have a Halloween party. Chatted with us for a bit. The host Evan was so friendly, helpful and kind. He works so hard, helping everyone, making sure everyone's taken care of. Happy to lend a hand. Our waitress, Savannah was sweet and kind.

The only location I desire to eat when on the island. The service is always pleasant. The cooks are always on point. I absolutely love this place and I definitely recommend you try them and keep going back until you have tried the entire menu. The oysters are top notch! The crab balls are so delicious. The drinks are poured to perfection.

Visited the beach while visiting family and stopped at Shuckin Shack for lunch. Crab Balls were super flavorful with real crab and the perfect balance of spices. I ordered a dozen Southern Salts raw oysters which arrived with horseradish and a house sauce that I believe was made with cherry peppers. The flavor was perfectly complementary to the briny flavor of the oysters. The oysters were a medium size with a good bite and nice flavor. My husband and I both had a lobster roll. These were served cold and fresh on a buttery roll and we're a perfect size for lunch. Not heavy, amazing lobster flavor, and we both added fresh lemon and a little Old Bay seasoning which we thought really brought out the flavor. Our server, Evan, answered all of our questions, had a great sense of humor, and was quick with our service. He was thorough with the specials and knowledgeable with the difference in the many different types of oysters on the menu. He also invited us back in a different day to try a nacho stack (unfortunately we will be having back to our home state by then) and it sounded amazing... We would truly be repeat customers and ask for Evan again if we lived in the area. When we visit our family again, we will certainly remember this restaurant and our experience.

We are locals and visit this Shuck N Shack on a regular basis since the day they opened this surf city location. Today we celebrated our birthday together and we were beyond satisfied. Our server Savannah went above and beyond to make us happy. The cooks definitely nailed it tonight our food was spot on. Absolutely delicious! One of the best experiences we have ever had! Thank you to the cooks and staff for making our special night top notch!

This is the first place my brother wants to go when he visits from Minnesota. He raves about the oysters and large selection of IPA beer there. The staff is always energetic and friendly. Genuine hometown atmosphere. Large portions of food served and the Cod sandwich was delicious.

We sat at the bar today, which we don't normally do anywhere. We just like regular tables so we can face each other while we eat and chat. Today there was a wait for seats because it's a holiday, but there were open seats at the bar. I'm so glad we sat at the bar! We enjoyed interacting with the bartenders, who all gave excellent service from start to finish. The raw oysters were amazing and the steamed Old Bay shrimp were also very good. My Old-Fashioned was made perfectly. We will be going back when we're in the area again for sure!

What a gem. We had several recommendations of other seafood spots to try while we were staying in Surf City, but ended up heading Shuckin' Shack because it was closer and was the only spot that had crab legs specifically on the menu. I was hesitant at first because it seemed kind of like a chain restaurant and I like to eat local when possible, but, boy was my mind blown. We loved it so much we ended up going two nights in a row.

The first night I had the "surf n turf" which is a half pound of crab legs and 5 chicken wings. The crab legs were some of the best I've ever had. No joke. The wings were *full* wings, meaning drum, flat, and tip so "only getting" 5 of them is the same as getting 10 wings from B-Dubs. The hot buffalo sauce was amazing, and the wings were breaded and crunchy. So delicious. For $23 bucks that combo is unbeatable.

Night two I tried the scallop appetizer and another half pound of crabs. Those blackened scallops were excellent. It was pretty small for the price, but huge flavor.

My wife had two of their buffalo shrimp appetizers which were amazing. My mother in law got the shrimp and grits which she absolutely raved over. All my kids are well, and the fried cod kids meal was a hit. Service was spectacular both nights.

I highly recommend this spot. The food is incredible.

Went with the family! Very efficient waiter. The food was on point! My favorite dish was the hot crab dip appetizer. I recommend this place.
