Small, quaint, cozy dining room with a good ambiance. The owners, staff, and chef are just wonderful, very sweet and nice people. The food is amazing!!! Creole cooking with a bit of creativity, especially with the dipping sauces. I had the jambalaya and dirty rice balls. My girlfriend had the fried green tomatoes. There isn’t anything on the menu that isn’t good. Highly recommend, with the drive if are in the Raleigh area.

Best shrimp and grits I've had in the 42 years I've been on this earth. Great home town atmosphere little restaurant. Absolutely recommend!

Thoroughly enjoyed our first visit- fried green tomatoes with pimento cheese, soul rolls, mama's seafood platter and eat the house. The ribs...geezus! Food was fresh and came out steaming hot. We will definitely be back.

OMGoodness! The red beans and rice with blackened shrimp was seasoned just right! The creole corn was over the top! Props to the Chef!
BTW the fried dirty balls are something good too!

This was my First time stopping by today 5/22/24 I had heard so many many great things and read so many great reviews and wanted to stop by and try there food I ordered shrimp,shrimp, chicken gumbo million dollar collards and soul rolls which was all great choices the staff was very welcoming and friendly the building was beautiful with art work and very clean and up to date I would highly recommend mama nem’s as my homest rating is 5 stars

Ate here for the first time today with my mother, it was slow but the Employee I didn't get their name was very helpful and very nice.

The food dude the food was fantastic had soul rolls as the app and look I'm from the south and I know I should be ashamed but I had no idea something so good existed on the planet 😂 they were amazing.

We both got Po-boys best catfish I've eaten from a restaurant in the state in recent memory.

Only reason I gave the atmosphere a low rating is because it wasn't busy and not a lot of decor but other than that it was something you'd not want to miss.

A great family owned Creole restaurant. We tried the “eat the house” dish on the menu which is a sampler plate including the Gumbo, Jambalaya, Etoufee, red beans, chicken, shrimp and fried ribs. For dessert we tried the fried sweet potato pie. It was all delicious. Highly recommend.

This place! Little hidden gem packed with flavor!!! We got the shrimp and grits, fried green tomatoes (holy moly!!!) The hand breaded/seasoned chicken tenders and mac-n-cheese were off the freaking chain good!!! My 8yr old daughter said they were the best she has ever had!!!

My husband & I have have dinner there twice and are planning on another dinner with friends soon. Mama Nem's never fails with great food & service. Each time we have used their online reservation service. Mama Nem's makes it easy to have a pleasant dining experience. We are eating our way through their menu!

This is a place you got to stop and eat. This is a hidden gem. The food and service were great. The sweets at the end are the best.

The food!!! That's it, that's the post. You go to this place for...THE FOOD! It's spectacular, nice new location still making its space in Downtown Selma and it's a gem! Must eat list indeed!

We had the most delicious lunch! Hubs had the Mother Clucker Po Boy, and I had the Mama's Favorite. The sandwich's were yummy, and the Fry's were crispy. The tea was cold, and hit the spot on a hot day. We will definitely be back!

My husband and I went to an antique store in Smithfield and decided to try something different for lunch. We ate at Mama Nems. The food was delicious! Our waiter was so awesome too. I would definitely recommend this restaurant!! Very Louisiana style cooking! Going to try the shrimp and grits next time!

Came here today for a late lunch/early dinner. Had the catfish sandwich and fries. Food was great and service was friendly. More people should try it as I was the only one there on a Friday afternoon. I hope this place sticks around because it’s a nice change of pace from the normal run of the mill restaurants in the area. I’ll definitely return to try other dishes.

This is a small little place but the food is awesome!
Definitely recommend trying this place out if you're craving something new.

We had their jambalaya , fried sweet potato pie and shrimp lo boys at the ham yam festival last weekend. 10/10 would recommend and looking forward coming to dine in the near future!

Amazing family owned restaurant in the heart of Downtown Selma, good lunch options and portion sizes. I stay coming back for either a strawberry salad or (my personal favorite) the Shrimp and Grits!!!

New Orleans comes to Selma ! We are beyond excited to have the food we could only experience from the food truck now become available in a full service restaurant. From gumbo to Po’ Boy sandwiches, you will not be disappointed.

Food was amazing especially the fried ribs and the voodoo sauce needs to be bottled…yummy!!! The service was great we will definitely be back!
