We just got home recently from a great trip during the 4th of July, except for the blood suckers out there! One of us was eaten alive (30+ bites) even with the OFF spray on and in a bug screened canopy tent. The large black and whites were more aggressive, biting early morning and late evening and and the little ankle biters were there too! 🙃 Idyllwild is a great little mountain town to explore. Close to Lake Fulmor, too!
The camp host guy is nice, as are his two cats who greeted us!
There are no showers at this campground, but you can drive to town (10-15 minutes ) and go to the other state park to use. Need a coin to operate them that you get at that ranger station.
Vault toliets you could smell here and there depends on wind. Hand stanizier on outside of them. Saw rangers cleaning a few times.
Our site had a good amount of shade versus some did not have much when we explored. A few sites have power, which is nice!
Very quite and peaceful. Other campers were respecting hours.
No wood fires due to weather (heat wave) and fire danger, but it can vary since there are pits.
Water spigots through out grounds.
Says bears and rattlers but didn't see them. Some sites had bear cabinets ? But some did not.

Great campground, well maintained. Comes with fire pit, wood storage, clean bathrooms, water spigots, and a dumpster.
Lots of birds if you are a bird watcher it’s a great spot.

Great campground! It's super clean and quite at least during the week. We had site 21. The host, Chip, was attentive and awesomely friendly! Will definitely be back!

We stayed two nights and had a great time! We booked online and got site 29. It was very spacious and felt pretty secluded from the other sites. The site is down a little below the parking spot so you're not directly by the road. There were three pit toilets right across from the site but they were very clean and I could only smell it maybe once or twice. The water was a few sites down so pretty close.

The campsite was completely booked when we got there and we could definitely hear people in the other sites and could tell some people at a site far from us were playing loud music around 9:45pm. There is a camp host in the morning but they leave in the afternoon.

There are no showers but we were able to drive to the Idyllwild Campground and get shower tokens and use their showers (a little inconvenient but nice after a long hike).

Great campground, came up here early may midweek and found the campground literally to myself! Very friendly campground host who even helped me load wood in the trunk. No showers and the bathrooms are pot toilets, however these were the cleanest pit toilet bathrooms I've ever encountered, they weren't even stinky. If your a fisherman there are 2 lakes nearby but one of them is currently closed for renovations and the other turns out to be a private lake so if you insist on fishing you have to drive to Hemet lake. Loved the privacy of this campground however I'm sure weekends are a whole different beast. Some sites looked a little close to others.

The campground was lovely, there were plenty of trees to hang hammocks from and it was well kept. There were so many mosquitoes and fire ants, which was the only downside but I feel like is summers fault and not the campgrounds. They had water and simple toilets and my reservation was easy. Will come back! I went in July and it was hot during the day (we went into the town) and lovely and cool at night

Stayed September 6-8, 2024 in space #04.
Such a surprisingly pleasant experience. We had never been to Idyllwild so we didn't know what to expect. The campground was very clean and the Host/Staff were very friendly. Some campground host "bother" but not this one. We brought our 20 ft. travel trailer that fit perfectly in the camp space. It was a little challenging getting it into the space but we managed. Bring your bug spray! There were more gnats then mosquitos buzzing around. We saw lots of birds, chipmunks, and squirrels. A hawk even flew down in a tree right next to me. It was amazing! The only complaint would be loud campers up till 3:00 am but no biggie. The Village was something I didn't expect. Simply charming with a movie theatre (was watched BeetleJuice) and a delicious bakery (Amelias, try their Apple Fritters) Just an all around great little getaway just 2 hours from home! Thank you Idyllwild! I'm sorry I had doubts about you.

Disclaimer: I camped here in early October: both in COVID conditions and extreme wildfire danger, so no campfires were allowed and all trails were closed.

With that being said, I will totally camp here again. I love being in the mountains, close enough to Idyllwild to venture into town with an easy 10-minute drive, but far enough from the high volume of tourists to feel at peace.

This campground has pit toilets only, so keep that in mind if you’re looking for flush toilets and showers. However, there’s potable water taps in several places in the campground.

Friendly ranger and camp hosts. Beautiful place!

I Stayed at Stone Creek campground towards the end of Sept, the weather was perfect and the night sky was clear for some pictures of Jupiter . It was my first time at this campground and I have nothing bad to say about it. It has everything you need for a little getaway. The site we chose was perfect, we were surrounded by trees and bushes and had a lot of privacy. Their was a fire ban which sucked but I went prepared and took my propane fire pit. Will be coming back again in Oct.

Very cool campground! Not just a typical rectangle of dirt campsite. Each campsite is pretty large and nestled amongst trees. Only vault toilets so come prepared with hand washing supplies!

Quiet, private camp spots (ours was anyway). Decent proximity to water stations. Typical campground vault toilets, meh. Several hiking trailheads within the campground. This was a great spot!

I considered everyone's comments about this place, thanks they were very helpful. I rode down on Sunday Father's Day 2018 from the 10 freeway. The ride going up with scary at first because all the large oils patches and gravel, plus hardly no guardrails. First time Moto camping. It got down to 39 degrees at one point at night, wasn't prepared for that. Both of the groundskeeper were very helpful and nice.

Was looking for a camping area for the night. Other sites were expensive for what they offered. Saw the sign and decided to take a chance. Pleasantly surprised and stayed the night and then another. Very clean and host were very nice. Will go back for sure.

Hidden in the trees with a gorgeous scenic, mountain hike just 0.8 miles down the road. Provided wood boxes to keep your fire wood dry.
The time my wife and friends and I went, we were the only ones out there.
