Murphy's Fuel Oil Company

Murphy's is a great company to work with. We have oil heat and they recently filled us after we ran out. They called over the weekend to confirm they would be out Monday morning and they were there as promised. We also had them install a new AC system and furnace a few years ago, and they did a terrific job with that -- good work for a good price. Their heating oil prices are always very competitive (that's how I found them in the first place), so I don't bother even checking others any longer.

Murphy's is THE BEST! I reached out as a first time customer with an emergency. They were so kind and helpful! They were able to provide an emergency same-day delivery of oil AND walk me through getting my furnace working again! I am forever thankful, a forever customer, and will recommend to anyone I know!

Murphy's has to be the best in customer service I have ever dealt with it's a big family there and they treat there customers like we are family Been using them for my heating oil and my central air since I moved into my house in 1996 and I live in Glen Burnie. I have nothing but good things to say about Murphy's, and their customer service is awesome. The owner of the company responded to my call personally after an issue with my fuel tank prevented the driver from filling it. He was very helpful and sent a truck that same day to fill the tank . I scheduled a service appointment for our furnace too. I will be a regular customer from now on.

The owner, Mark, has bailed us out a couple times with our oil furnace system/HVAC. Their pricing is realistic and not marked up 300% like some of the bigger companies. Their employees are very nice and transparent about their work and how they price it. I will be using Murphy’s for all of my HVAC and oil needs in the future. I’ve got a few properties so they’re going to be my go to.💯💯

Ran out of heating oil last night. Called this morning spoke with Mark and he was able to get me on the schedule immediately today. When he called me back to tell me he could deliver today the driver was at my house within 15 minutes. Excellent service. Mark and the driver were super nice and helpful. Would recommend them to anyone.
First time customer but will definitely be a repeat customer.

Murphy's Fuel Oil Co. is the best! This company has the best customer service that I've experienced in a long time. They are always fast in getting fuel oil delivered. They have also walked me through fixing issues that I was having with my furnace on the phone on several occasions. I highly recommend them.

I have lived in this area for over 23 years and used several of the criminal corporate chain suppliers until I was lucky enough to be led to Murphy Oil. They are quick to respond they have some very smart tech people that not to far from my start fixed an issue that started when I had the house built!!

First time using this company. Had Jim come out and help with the refill. He got me up and running! Super down to earth guy and educated me on proper maintenance and fixed a little issue I had. Could not be happier with the service and hospitality. Jim is awesome! Professional and knows his stuff. Highly recommend!

I'm BAACK... with another review...

Brandon came out June 28th to do the yearly maintenance on our Carrier heat pump (the AC side of things of course)... He found nothing wrong and happily commented on this... Famous last words! HA!

A week later... during some of the HOTTEST days we've had.... and... yep. the heat pump dies. Brandon was here within 30 minutes!!! We laughed about how everything was running great just a week ago... He opened up the unit to find the circuit thingy (yeah, my word), had popped it's top!

Thankfully, Brandon had what he needed to get us fixed up and running. We didn't have to sleep in the basement!

We've been customers of Murphy's Fuel for several years. They are so awesome. They back up what they sell, and have come out quickly to service or repair and will come out again until whatever was not working is working again!

Recently we had to have a chimney crew out to replace the oil flue. They shut off the back up furnace, just to be in the safe side. Their repair included a new cap on the chimney which won't be installed until the day before Thanksgiving. With the furnace "off" and the flue tarped, we were without heat until Mark from Muphy's talked me through how to make sure only the heat pump worked and NOT the furnace (just its blower).

I'M SO THANKFUL! Thanks to Mark, we've got heat again... and he didn't charge me a single penny!

UPDATE:

WOW! Murphy's... You ROCK! After writing above, we had a couple of cold nights where the temps dropped below 30... and of course, our back up oil furnance tried to come on... with the oil flue still tarped (waiting for the custom cap), we couldn't allow the oil furnance to come on.... the first time, I caught it right away and shut down the whole system (chilly night, but we learned how well our house holds heat!)...The second time I wasn't so lucky... and oil smells alerted me to the fact that the furnace was on... and fumes were filling the house. A quick shut down and the blower circulating the air made all things ok... so we thought...

A day later, the cap on the oil flue is installed, the heat pump is working great and we have heat... but... the blower would not shut off...

SO, on a Saturday, Brandon from Murphy's comes out and does a full investigation, finding that a pressure switch had tripped... which he couldn't understand until I told him the story I just told you... He said had he not found and fixed the issue, our oil backup would never come on.. so the heat we'd had the night before was from the heat pump alone. Also, he educated us that (with our unit), the blower blowing all the time (without us turning it on to run all the time) was a sign of a problem...

We learned a great deal and Brandon took great care to investigate and find the problem... even to the point of checking the newly installed flue (he didn't know it was new!) to make sure it was free of debris!

Our family has been using Murphy’s for fuel oil now for several years. We recently needed to have our furnace fixed. Technician Andy was extremely kind, professional and did a great job. We have been very happy customers and have always had a positive experience. Everyone we have ever spoken with or worked with have been wonderful. They are also really affordable. Highly recommend this company to anyone in their service area.

I have used Murphy's for several years now. Before then I would make 4 or 5 calls shopping for the best price until I realized that Murphy's was never priced higher than the competition, oftentimes they had the best price. This is not a price review, however. They get 5 stars for the consistent and excellent customer service. Not to mention that during the recent cold snap I was running very low on oil. They arrived an hour later, on a Saturday no less, to bail me out and keep our house warm and happy. Friendly and professional service is my standard and they always achieve that.

Just became a lifelong customer today. My old oil company left me without oil for 2 days with no response and a lot of insanity. Called Murphy’s this morning and within 2 hours I had an oil delivery. Incredibly helpful and understanding of my situation even the delivery guy was professional and nice. Thank you so much!!!

In addition to being a LOCAL oil delivery company (which has gotten rarer and rarer) Murphy's installed a fiberglass tank I had purchased in DE, when my old oil company wouldn't have anything to do with it. (all my old oil company wanted to do was sell me another metal tank which was not what I wanted. Ever since then, I have bought all my heating oil from Murphy's, as well as having the systems serviced by them. Whenever possible, I trade with local companies, and I'm grateful to have Murphy's here locally.

The owner was given a gift. The driver whose initials were hard to read (JM something) is always upbeat, professional and displays exceptional customer service. These qualities are rare theses days but what’s needed for business survival and longevity.

Murphy's has been great. I definitely suggest automatic delivery. I never have to check my tank (though I still do periodically). All the reviews that complain about empty tanks should set up automatic delivery. Im sure they work extremely long days in the cold winter months trying to keep tanks from running dry. You can't expect to call at 8am for same day delivery in the dead of winter when all the drivers are already on the road with a long list of deliveries and be upset when they tried but just couldn't squeeze you in. Automatic delivery people!

They've also never tried to sell me a new system when all that's needed is a small repair. They do regular maintenance of my oil furnace, A/C and oil fired water heater (which they installed years ago).

I noticed some of the reviews commenting about rude customer service. Personally I've never had that experience. Maybe I've just been lucky, or maybe some people take "customer is always right" too far. Can't say for sure, but I can tell you I have no complaints.

Mark is the best. Walked me thru the process on the phone of bleeding my lines on my furnace. Saved me a lot of money in trouble shooting with a technician. I was so happy I was able to do this!!

The business where I work has a contract with a different (nonlocal) oil company. When they missed our auto delivery and we were left without heat on a cold weekend, Murphy's saved the day. Not only did Mark answer the phone outside of business hours, he was also willing to help when he wouldn't be making much of a profit by doing so. The driver was also incredibly kind and professional. Thanks Murphy's!
