Las Potras Mexican Restaurant

Update: Our third visit was as good (Great!) as our first and second visits. This food is art! We've tried entrees from every part of the menu and loved each one. THIS is THE best Mexican restaurant in the North-Central part of Connecticut.

I can't say enough about this restaurant! We are Mexican foodies and have dined from Matamoros to Tijuana, Anchorage to Santa Fe, San Antonio to Tucson, and from Florida to Maine. Las Potras stands at the top with the very best!
First, the margaritas ... the Las Potras Margarita is made from freshly squeezed limes and lemons, quality tequila, and served on the rocks. I can't believe they squeeze the citrus fruits, but it is totally tasty. The other margaritas looked just as amazing, so I know that we'll be back to try some more.
For appetizer, we ordered Street Corn, just like from Puerto Vallarta or Guadalajara, but we chose to have it off the cobb; it was topped with sour cream and mexican queso. It was pleasantly spiced, flavorful and delicious! An excellent starter.
Main courses were the Al Pastor Chimichanga and Octopus a la Diabla. The Chimichanga enclosed sautéed pineapple (not too much!) and braised pork, and was topped with green tomatillo sauce. My wife said it was tasty and satisfying (she always get chimis if she can). My Octopus a la Diabla was amazing. I have not had this dish before, but I have liked octopus in other cuisines ... This was perfectly cooked, tender, and flavorful. The diabla sauce was divine! It had the right amount of zing! and a hearty, spiced chile base similar to what I've had in Albuquerque.
The service for our meal was spot-on. Brenda (?) was pleasant and attentive. We ate in on a Monday, so tables were available when we walked in.
Honestly, my biggest concern is that enough people learn about this wonderful place that it becomes too popular. This establishment is obviously a work of love. They craft great food and are not afraid of dipping deep into the best of Mexican cuisine. They are bold enough to charge well for good food. I appreciate that. The restaurant is a business, after all. And with this quality of food, they are sure to do well.

If you are looking for actual delicious Mexican food, you should stop by here. Everything is so fresh and delicious. I haven't been to Mexico in 4 years now, but I came across this restaurant and let me tell you, the food is Mexico, seasoned magnificently and reminds me of my childhood in Mexico. The service is amazing and they are so friendly. The decoration and atmosphere is amazing as well. I recommend you come by and check it out if you really want the Mexican experience.

I have gotten delivery twice.

Only had 1 issue which I'm used to as I do custom orders asked for no sour cream but recieved sour cream. I didn't bother calling I just scraped it off the chimi yesterday. All other customizations no beans and no sauce were done correctly.
Tried something new today ceviche had amazing flavor and pico was delicious and fresh!

Will definitely try more!

Best boneless wings I’ve ever had, totally unexpected and blew me away. Poblano pepper was amazing and the tacos are next level delicious!

Delicious new spot for authentic Mexican mixed with some fusion surprises. Great music, inspiring atmosphere, and friendly staff. A bit pricy, but worth it. Hopefully they’ll have their liquor license soon. I’ll be back!

Tell your friends, tell your mama to get here! Its so good, authentic, and fun! We had fajitas which were really good and ordered a side of brussels that was great addition to the tacos. Excellent service too. They offer a ton of fresh margaritas (personally despise all sour mix and hate restaurants that shortcut that or lie about their fresh lime) with flavors. I really liked the extra spicy fresh margarita. The kids loved the virgin margaritas haha. Don't forget the homemade hot sauce which I could bathe in. Definitely looking forward to my next visit, will be very hard to stay away from this spot for long.

I’ve been to this place twice now and both times have been great. Quick, friendly service. My husband and I got the Las Potras Bowl - one with salmon, one with grilled chicken. Both absolutely delicious and reasonably priced (~$50 total). Will definitely be returning!

Excellent! Guacamole was exceptional. We got boneless wings which were really great. Then traditional tacos and Birria tacos, both were excellent. Staff was attentive and courteous. Only good things to say about this place! I hope they’re here for a long time!

This place is so good! The enchiladas with chicken mole verde were fantastic! And of course you can’t go wrong with refried beans and rice. Very happy to have tried this place out.

Shockingly good Mexican food and atmosphere in this little unassuming strip mall. We had the street corn and flautas appetizer and shrimp diablo and short rib meals and all of them were fantastic. Also delicious drinks with great variety. Couldn’t recommend it enough, wish it was busier on a Sunday night. Try this spot ASAP

My husband and I went to the restaurant for the first time tonight. Greeted by three lovely sisters that owned the restaurant. Everyone was friendly, food was absolutely fresh and delicious! We got an appetizer sampler, my husband got a burrito and I got the best sizzling fajitas ever! We will definitely be back!

Excellent service & delicious food. I went here for my birthday party & everyone was raving about the food, even those who don't eat much Mexican food.

The portions are generous & filling. The desserts are amazing and you won't want to share.

Very interesting menu with lots of selection. My wife had a burrito and I had fish tacos. Both were excellent! Super flavorful! The waitress was very friendly and helpful. Strongly recommended!!

Food was amazing. Service was great. Fun atmosphere. Worth the slight drive out of the center of town. Can't wait to try more on the menu. If it's all as good as the molé, it'll be a regular night out.

Our absolute favorite restaurant in Granby, and the best Mexican food in the area! Amazing food and really great service.

Placed takeout order just today, food was done on time and it was excellent. I'm definitely a bit of a snob when it comes to Mexican food and this was very good. Excited it's in my town

Staff were all very welcoming. Food and drinks were great. I'll definitely be coming back! But next time I need to leave room for dessert

The atmosphere was great, their food presentation and flavor was excellent and the service was so much more than we expected. What a great place for authentic cuisine and awesome service.

Excellent, fresh food, beautifully prepared. Simple, clean space. Attentive, generous and kind staff. Owner came and introduced herself to us, was incredibly welcoming. Will absolutely be returning - regularly!
