I would 100 % recommend!! She is amazing-she not only made me feel comfortable and relaxed but payed extremely close attention to detail. My dress was so big prior to my alterations that you could fit a golf ball down the back. She also altered my neckline to make it more of a V cut that I wanted. You won’t find this kind of service anywhere else….she also gives out lolly pops :)

I am currently working on my wedding dress with Fatima and I cannot recommend her enough! I was not sure what I wanted to do with my dress to really make it my own and her ideas and suggestions were exactly what I was looking for. Each session, she is incredibly thorough and I always feel like I am being really taken care of. I used to stop in to her former work place and saw some of her previous work with heirloom wedding dresses and I was completely blown away, which is why I came to her. I cannot wait to see and post the final results, my dress is already looking perfect. Fatima is kind, thoughtful and is an incredible seamstress!

Absolutely amazing in every way!! Not only is Fatima lovely to work with but she’s a miracle worker. I lost 60 pounds after ordering my dress in a size larger than what I had originally tried on and Fatima made it fit beautifully while still managing to keep my pockets in tact. This wasn’t even the best of her magic, I panicked about a week before my wedding because my dress didn’t have sleeves and it was my biggest dress regret and without really any hesitation she said yes to making custom sleeves just 6 days before my wedding we set up a fitting for a day or two later. I brought her back my dress and within a few days I had a dress that finally felt like MY dress and thank goodness because by that point it had to be.

Im currently a student of Fatima, she’s teaching me how to make wedding dresses. I absolutely love working with Fatima. There’s never a dull moment when I’m with her, we’re always laughing and enjoying ourselves when we’re together. Her personality is beautiful. Since ive been a student with her, Ive been learning soooo much. I’ve been learning how to tailor wedding dresses, how to get the perfect corset, how to construct the train of a wedding dress and so much more. I can’t wait to apply what I’ve learned and make an actual dress with what Fatima has taught me in my business.

Fatima literally SAVED me. I got a wedding gown dress online (brilliant decision, I know) and then lost 30 pounds. When dress finally came, I had a meltdown because it was AT LEAST 4 sizes too big. I began looking for a seamstress who specializes in bridal alterations because I couldn’t risk taking it to just anyone. When I found MyAbishai, I immediately called, and she got me in for a fitting the same day. A month later at my second fitting, I was literally floored because the dress was pretty much perfect. She could have stopped there, but she continued to refine and adjust until both of us were 100% content with the end product. She is so dedicated and also very caring and kind, and she literally works miracles.

I gained a bunch of weight and thought I would have to sell my dream wedding dress. A close friend of mine put me in touch with Fatima and Fatima was so happy to help. She saved my dream dress and filled my heart with joy. My parents absolutely loved her and I can't express how much what she did for me means 💜

We took my daughter’s prom dress to Fatima for alterations. The top of her dress was very ornate with embroidery, sequins, and mesh. Fatima did an amazing job altering the top! You would never know she had to remove some of the embroidery and sequins and rework it in order to make it fit properly. My daughter and I were extremely impressed with her craftsmanship and the quick turnaround time. We highly recommend Fatima and will be going back to her with other items that need altering. There are many wonderful things I can say about Fatima. Wonderful craftsmanship and attention to detail, amazingly talented and capable, but most of all she really cares and wants you to be happy and pleased with the end result.
I was a student in one of her sewing classes at HVCC, which was an amazing experience that I could go on forever about regarding how helpful her teaching and this class was to myself and my mother, but I digress, I came to Fatima after class about 3 weeks before a very important art opening on Halloween at MoMa that I was not only lucky enough to be invited to but I was also asked to wear one of the featured artist)designers dresses. Not only did she understand his vision but mine as well. She was fast, efficient, and I felt and looked AMAZING!!!! Not to mention the designer was more than pleased with her alterations but also grateful. I would not only go to Fatima and Abishai again for any and all my alterations, etc but I would recommend her over and over and over again to whomever will listen!.....she really is a brilliant seamstress who really cares about her handiwork and craft as well as your satisfaction, comfort, and above all happiness. Her prices are more than fair and she is incredibly fast.
I cannot wait to see her business grow and flourish as I truly feel it will.

I needed to have a bridesmaids dress altered and after reading the reviews here, decided to give Abishai a go. I'm so glad I did. Highly recommended. I found Abishai after receiving very poor customer service at another local location. I was starting a new job with professional dress code and was anxious about getting some clothes fitted before I started. Fatima was able to get my clothes back to me by the end of the week so I would have them in time, even in the midst of the very busy prom and wedding seasons. Also, she is a very friendly and warm person. I hope I have a reason to come back again!

Fatima Bey was a blessing to me as I prepared for my birthday celebration. I’d ordered a dress online and ordered it a few sizes larger than my regular dress size, but it was still too small. Fatima inserted gussets on each side, shortened the hemline and fix the top so that it would fit perfectly! I felt like a queen at my birthday celebration! Working with her was so easy and enjoyable! What can I say? Fatima made my 50th very special! I love certain dresses of mine but my husband is sick of seeing me in them all of the time. So he found Abishai, stole a dress from my closet and asked if she could replicate it. Fatima patiently helped him through the fabric-buying process, and in about 2 weeks, I had a new "old standby dress". She did a wonderful job creating the pattern and dress. We were so happy with her work and ethics, I just dropped off more fabric and another dress to re-create. Can't wait to get them back! Thank you Fatima and Jasmine!

It's owner-operated so you know that nothing's going to leave that shop unless it's meticulously done. Fatima (the owner) is a perfectionist, so she pays attention to ALL of the little details. This review is for Fatima's "Sewing 101" and "Alterations 101" classes offered at Hudson Valley Community College. Fatima not only was a GREAT teacher, she was a wonderful personality that made the class fun. Great sense of humor, which comes in handy when working with beginner students, like me!. She had a ton of patience when asked multiple times about certain parts of the project [and yes I asked a lot!] and explained things is a way that made it easy for the student to understand the basics of our sewing machine. I appreciated also, how she went above and beyond the "how to" aspect of the class and delved into other topics such as fabrics and different sewing styles. I had a lot of "light-bulb" moments in the class; where she would explain something to do with our machines or basic sewing techniques; where I would finally understand what I had been doing wrong or something I didn't realize before. Very informative teacher. I not only recommend her classes to the beginner but also those intermediates: you will learn something you didn't know before. I enjoyed not only making the bag in class but am quite proud of how it came out. SO much, that I am taking the beginning class again, just to improve what I have learned. Thanks Fatima!
