Goldfish Swim School - Chapel Hill

I've got a 10yo kiddo who's been too scared or embarrassed (because he's older) to do swimming lessons for years. He finally said he wanted to do lessons this summer, so I set out to find somewhere with QUALITY instruction that was AFFORDABLE and found BOTH at Goldfish Swim. The skill levels are regimented, which I found helpful to my kid knowing what to expect and not being nervous. I appreciated the variety of instructors when we first started booking because kiddo was exposed to different styles of coaching. They're doing the same collection of activities but each coach brings their own "flavor" of how they interact with the kids. All the coaches are great, but you'll learn which ones your kid connects with the best. I was able to easily adjust lessons to get some of the instructors my kiddo enjoyed the most. My minimum hope this summer was that he'd learn to float and could put his face in the water without too much fuss, but after only 12 lessons, he's moved from Glider 1 to Pro 1 easily. It's been a great confidence booster for him.

A side note I'd like to share is about the booking portal. When I first started, I found it to be confusing when moving between single bookings vs. multi-bookings for the same time each week. Once you're in the booking portal and looking at the time slots that have openings, the calendar looks the same - I didn't see a heading that said I was on the single booking page or the multi-booking page. I accidentally did a multi-booking for an indefinite time period and didn't realize until the start of July when my credit card was charged for that month. I was able to cancel the unwanted lessons starting in August. When I went back to the booking confirmations I had received, I saw where I missed the information on the "Start Date" and "End Date" fields. For bookings that have no end date, I think it would be helpful to make the field default say "indefinite" or "multi-booking w/ no end date." In the grand scheme, it was my mistake, which is why I've given 5 stars, but I'm hopeful my feedback could inform how things are displayed when booking.

Our daughter loves going to goldfish, her teachers have always been amazing and the place is super clean. The classes are only 30 minutes and sometimes they have up to 4 kids in one lane, which significantly cuts their instruction time. It would be nice if the classes were 45min or had less kids per lane. If you miss a class they let you make it up, that’s always helpful since little kids get sick often in the winter. Overall we’ve had a great experience at goldfish.

I have to give a 5 star rating, without a doubt great service. Danijah was very helpful and patient with me while booking a class. Just overall great everything, 10/10 definitely recommend!

My kids love going here. Lessons are quick and efficient. They have a great facility here and I’m impressed with their cleaning and safety measures.

Goldfish Swim School is very flexible with scheduling, very understanding when kid "just isn't feeling it" and sits out a lesson, and lots of skills have been learned by my 3 and 5 year old! Very happy with Goldfish.

After a frustrating year of private and semi-private lessons for my 5/6yos, I was hesitant to try Goldfish. Their standardized curriculum convinced me that at least we'd be able to track our kids' progress, which was one thing we'd been missing. Since we started at Goldfish last November, my big kids have moved up 2 levels and were finally completely independent in the water this summer. My little kids haven’t made progress as quickly but they enjoy it and look forward to their lessons every week: I take them Friday mornings when it’s nice and quiet. There are probably a lot of variables that can make it successful or not for your kid, but it's been a great experience for our family.

We really like the goldfish experience, and we truly believe that due to the dedication of the teachers, the small groups, and the almost one on one teaching, our son learned to swim. The most important part is that he learned to do his strokes are very accurate, and we are extremely grateful for teaching him that. We appreciate the dedication of the teachers, the warm and encouraging atmosphere, and especially the warm water all year around!

I have so enjoyed the mini swim classes with my daughter. They do a good job of practicing consistent skills week to week while also letting them just play and have fun. I also have loved seeing kids of all abilities in your swim classes when I’m there- as a pediatric physical therapist, I have recommended your facility to some of my patients and families because I know how accommodating you will be. We love Goldfish Swim School in Chapel Hill. Every instructor has been knowledgeable and encouraging to our child. Even though there maybe 3 other children in the class, your child still receives beneficial instruction. After every class we are given feedback on our child's progress. He knows what he has to work on to improve. Staff has always been kind and helpful!

My granddaughter has thoroughly enjoyed each class, and all of the instructors have been patient and kind! She is learning and growing in her skills, each week! It has been a wonderful experience for our family!

We love the swim school. Both of my daughters have had wonderful coaches, and the front desk are always super helpful. I also love their commitment to assisting non-profits in the area!

We have loved our time at Goldfish! While the price is a little high, our instructors have been amazing and the facility has always felt clean and tidy. We are so happy to find a place to help our daughter become a confident swimmer!

My child struggled at private swim lessons; I mean 30 minutes out of the hour was crying. I even told the lady when I signed my daughter up at Goldfish that she would probably cry most the time. Everyone was extremely supportive, and my daughter loves it! Each week on the day of lessons my daughter get excited. This past week was the first week she put her head in the water by herself. She has the ribbon hanging up at her grandparents house, and is very proud of it. Words can't express how happy we are to be at Goldfish!

Our kids love going to this place for swim lessons. We tried the local YMCA, their lessons were 45 minutes and it always felt like the instructor was just trying to get through the lesson and not focus on their progress. I feel the complete opposite here, in 30 minutes they get a lot of attention and feedback on how to improve. They're also more tired from Goldfish than the YMCA. Always a win. Having COVID protocols in place was very important to us and with their practices in place, we felt completely comfortable bringing our kids here. It really made our decision easy.

We have had the best experience at Goldfish. Our boys swimming has improved so much in just a couple of months! The instructors are friendly and good with the kiddos! So happy we found this place!

LOVE Goldfish! My 3-year-old has always been nervous around water (hates the beach), but with the gentle approach, steady routine, and patience of her teachers, she has loved swim lessons from her first week.

We are big fans of Goldfish Swim School. Our girls, ages 6 and 3, love going every week and have made a ton of progress in just a few short weeks. As a parent, I love how easy it is. They are fully engaged in each lesson, love showing us what they have learned at the end, and build on those skills each week. We are also able to shower and get ready for bed at the end of each session, which takes an extra step out of our already busy evening routine!
