Ancient City Pa Kua

There isn’t enough space to thoroughly describe how much we love this business! We joined about 3.5 years ago on a whim because my daughter wanted to try out acrobatics and maybe get into martial arts. Master Lori offered a free class to try it out and she loved it! We have been members ever since. They offer so many different classes and tons of flexibility on memberships and times. It’s really nice to be able to switch up the classes every week depending on what you feel like learning and what your schedule allows. She runs a fantastic and affordable summer camp (open to non members also). My daughter has made some wonderful strides in her growth since joining Pa Kua, not only in her martial and archery skills, but more importantly her life skills. Her confidence has improved drastically. Her focus is better as a result. Master Lori is immensely patient and kind and truly works to help her students excel and succeed in class and outside of the school as well. I even started taking archery classes because my daughter was having so much fun! I cannot say enough about Master Lori and this Pa Kua school!

A really welcomming, inclusive, no pressure, but also encouraging and supportive of growth kind of place. Flexible to the needs of the student, as well as offering a variety of class offerings. Lori is a wonderful, knowledgeable master with a calming and sincere spirit who really makes the place, along with the great student energy. I always leave feeling better.

I have been attending Tai Chi classes at Ancient City Pa Kua in St. Augustine for more than three years, and I love it. Master Lori is a wonderful person and talented instructor. She has taught me a lot, and I feel so much healthier since I started Tai Chi and completed other specialized classes at the studio.

When I decided to find a Tai Chi school I was thrilled to discover the Ancient City Pa Kua school under Master Lori. At my age I needed to start with something softer, but they also offer classes in Martial Arts, edged weapons, and archery for both children and adults. A new class called Rhythm is starting up and introduces soft and hard martial arts to fast beat music, making it both challenging and fun.

The school is almost cozy in the friendliness of the instructors and students, but don't let that fool you. You will get an awesome workout and excellent tutelage. The St Augustine school is actually part of a global network of Pa Kua schools where on occasion different teachers from other schools will visit and share their knowledge, exposing students to their unique nuances and providing a broader understanding of the art.

Joining the school is like becoming part of a larger family of like-minded people who share a common interest in the martial arts and help each other step up to achieve those goals.

First classes are free so you can't go wrong giving any or all of them a try to determine if the fit is right for you!

I have been a student at Ancient City PaKua for 6 years and always felt the instruction was informative, and spoken in a way that was easy to understand. Having questions whether child or adult was not a problem,they were always answered. The techniques were taught on the level of each student's ability..there was never encouraged competition among any of the students. The individual student learned each day built upon the class before. The time that is spent in class is time establishing positive traits for future life experiences.

We love how fun all the classes are! Master Lori makes everyone feel welcome and like family.
