Best place anywhere to get a pair of Maui’s, or any sunglasses for that matter. The owner has a real passion for carrying the best selection. They’ve been in business more than 15 years, they’re doing something right!
I’m from Annapolis originally but I live in Fort Lauderdale. I made a special point of buying my new Maui’s here when I come home to visit.

I just would like to say that I had a wonderful and most enjoyable experience when I visited Shades of Bay. My boyfriend and I came in to look for a new pair of sunglasses and RICO whom was working there, came right up to us and offered his help. He devoted his time to helping us the entire time we were there. He was kind, very helpful when describing the different styles of sunglasses, frames and anything we wanted to know. We had a great time as he even offered his opinion while I was trying on sunglasses on which looks best and fits best. I would recommend anyone to this place and please ask for RICO so you can have the experience that I did.

The ladies were very nice and answered all of our questions. Read the reviews and am confused as to how they had terrible service. Soberly recommend coming to shades of the bay to buy your next pair of glasses.

I got a great pair of Maui Jims there and went back and bought some great Zeal snowboard goggles with a camera built in, that the staff there said were great. Thanks again! I'll be back.

My wife and I were shopping for a pair of polarized aviator-style sunglasses here today and had the most unfortunate service experience! The guy who helped us was SARCASTIC, RUDE, AND UNPROFESSIONAL. He even admitted he was being sarcastic!

He said Ray-Ban doesn't make Aviators (55mm) polarized because of viewing the airplane gauges. After doing my own research, they did make 55mm polarized, and now just make the 58mm in polarized for their own reasons, not because of the airplane gauges.

He called my wife "high maintenance" and told her not to take things so seriously. When you're in the market for $200+ sunglasses, I don't think being picky qualifies for "high maintenance" and "too serious". Even if they had the desired sunglasses in stock, I would not buy here. I like supporting local business, but not when I'm treated poorly.

Not very helpful at all. I asked a lot of questions about what I was looking for and the sales girl had almost no answers for us. Left empty handed and disappointed.

I've never written a bad review in my life, but after making the unfortunate decision to buy a pair of sunglasses from this place- I felt like I had to. After trying out a few different ones, I ended up deciding on a pair of $230 Oakleys. I bought them and left the store. I didn’t wear them until the next day, but as I was putting them on, I noticed a scratch on the outside of the lens. I thought, okay, I'll go back, explain what happened, and get a different pair or maybe a refund.

When I went back to explain, the owner of the store told me it was my fault for not checking for scratches before I left.

The sunglasses I bought were a FLOOR DEMO and not new inventory.

Safe to say, avoid this place at all costs.

My experience wasn’t good. Today I went in to get an exchange on a pair of sunglasses since I was told before by one of the sales person that it’s a 14 day exchange policy time period. Today there was a woman named Shamia at the counter that was very rude and had an attitude. She needs to learn on how to communicate with customers since customers are always right. Also definitely do something about this. She didn’t even greet me and when I mentioned that I want to do an exchange she said this is your third time and I have to call my boss to confirm if you can exchange. Definitely a lie because today was my second time doing an exchange. It’s never written that I can only exchange three times. I worked at sunglass hut so I know how these things work.

Went in looking for pricing of a certain pair of glasses I knew I wanted. The sales girl was very nice and helpful. While I was mulling over the price, an older woman behind the counter starting interrupting the kind sales girl and became very aggressive and rude towards me, not even allowing me to respond before interrupting both me and the sales associate. I really wanted the glasses but her attitude and demeanor made me walk out immediately.

Was looking to purchase sunglasses and noticed the gentleman behind me drop a pair on the ground that he was trying on, no big deal it happens. I then took the pair i was going to buy up to the counter to purchase. The lady at the counter started to wipe down the pair i brought over. I asked if I could have a "new" in box pair that have not been opened and used as a display pair. She explained to me that this is not how they are sold at the store so i asked for a 10% discount which she said they cannot do. I said don't worry about it then and left without buying any glasses. When purchasing over $230 sunglasses i expected to be given a new pair from their stock, not the ones that are on display. In stores i have worked at in the past we have always either provided a discount if it is the display pair or given a new pair that's still in the box.

Idiots, I bought several pair of costas here last year, called up to order exactly what I had in my hands. Camo costas with 200 bifocals. Oh we can't get them,, they don't make them I told him oh yes they do I'm holding a pair,,, oh no nope, says this lost dude. I called the place I st Pete I deal with In the winter, yep we will have them to you by next wed.,, ok thanks here is my credit card number. Not very hard.

Completely rude and inconsiderate customer service on the phone when I simply asked about a pair of sunglasses. I would have likely gone in that day and bought from them until I was given a rude response and told to call back tomorrow because they are too busy at the moment.
