This statue was erected by the people of Idaho Springs, Colorado in 1950. It is actually based on a cartoon character, in the Sunday Comic Pages, featuring the hero and his wild escapades. It also serves as a reminder of the wild west adventuresome spirit. It's present home is in Courtney-Riley-Cooper Park.
