I got wings with fries & candied yams and it was ok for a lunch meal. Improvements needed on the grumpy , dry, rough customer service that I received from staff at the order window. I had more who asked me for a location to eat at but I could not recommend the place because the friendly service was not present. Let someone else work if you can't be kind to customers please and thank you.

IN A LEAGUE OF HIS OWN MAKING!
Yo, seriously if you're looking for bbq grub, you found the spot. Sure, it might be a hike to get to in the seaport of Boston, but once you get there, you'll be happy you made the trip. Succulent meats and ribs that fall off the bone into your salivating mouth. This restaurant is a hybrid combination of Texas style BBQ with secret sauces I can't wait to get more of! Thank you Larry and Linda!

So, I’m walking out to get a head start on my tour of Boston (first time), and I spot a BBQ spot across the street from my hotel. I look at the menu and know that I’m in the right spot. As I approach the counter to order, I’m met by a gentleman that reminds me of my uncle. In any case, he takes my order and asks me if I want a full cup of ice or light ice with my soda. Now, this may seem like a small thing, but this is how I knew the food would be great. In my experience, if the seduce is great, the restaurant has taken time to prepare their food with the same amount of detail. A generalization, but my taste buds agreed. As Larry and I continued to converse about my Celtics winning the championship, the amount of flavor in the burnt ends was distracting—in a good way. As I stood aside, and watched other customers approach the stand, I realized I was standing in a unicorn of a business in the Seaport area. Great food, great customer service AND a moderate price point. If you’re ever in Boston, please make sure you stop by this open yet hidden gem!

My husband is from Texas and knows good Texas BBQ and Larry’s is the closest you’ll find in Boston! It is amazing! We really wanted brisket and were so delighted that everything was incredible! We went twice in one week 😊
The person on the phone is always so nice and my husband met Larry and said he was wonderful and they even offered more BBQ sauce for free if we needed! I can’t say enough great things about this place and the owners/staff! Oh and you can sit outside with an ocean view 🤩

If you want BBQ or just a nice friendly place to eat look no further than Larry’s J’s bbq.

The hidden BBQ stand in the middle of a park.

I ordered a combo #2 and saw that everybody was raving over the burnt ends so I picked that up as well. The reviews were right, the burnt ends were the best I've tried. I had sides of candied yam, mac and cheese, rice, and coleslaw--all what you would expect in a good southern BBQ.

The lines did become a bit long and many orders came flying in because the food is that good. My advice, plan ahead. Expect some waiting as the husband and wife juggle the window orders and online orders, so order a bit more because you dont want to miss out. On a side note, a rabbit in the park kept me company while waiting. I wanted to get seconds while eating, but I didn't want to contend with another wait. I know I'll have to visit again to fulfill my BBQ needs. Did I mention the burnt ends? It's been hours and I'm still thinking about them.

They close up at around 7:30PM if the orders stop despite their sign saying 9PM for some nights. The owner even came out to the patrons to apologize of the wait and to see how we were doing when their was a lull in the ordering. His voice is deep and loud, so I can understand how it could be mistaken as rude, but he was really sincere and kind. It was also interesting to hear that he had friends in Guam where I'm from. As their motto says, it's fresh food, not fast food.

Larrys is one of the only orginal gems in the seaport. Staff is great, food is AWESOME. And the they recently acquired a beer and wine license which is perfect considering the beautiful location. It’s right on the park overlooking the ocean. Highly recommend.

Ordered a combo plate with pulled chicken and paid extra for burnt ends which were fantastic. As a side tried the Texas caviar, a Tex-Mex bean salad consisting of black-eyed peas lightly pickled in a vinaigrette-style dressing. It was delicious, too.

Went here for lunch. I have never had a good experience with bbq (having only tried places in the northeast) so i had guarded expectations, so i was so happy and surprised when the food was great!

I got the bbq spaghetti, texas caviar (a cold black eyed pea and pepper mix), and burnt ends. There were 2 slightly different kinds of bbq sauce that came with it. Or maybe it was just two things of the same sauce? anyways, the burnt ends were great, there were some beautifully fatty pieces and some quite lean and crisped up pieces. The flavour for both types of burnt ends were great though i preferred the fattier ones.

BBQ spaghetti was a huge surprise and highlight for me, a sweet and spiced sauce coated the spaghetti and there were some crisped up parts of the spaghetti to serve as textural contrast.

Personally I didn't like the texas caviar much. it was slightly vinegary and the black eyed peas were a great texture, but I just didn't find it too exciting. Nothing was wrong with it in particular.

My friend got the fried catfish with mac n cheese and slaw, all of which tasted great to me as well. The catfish was coated in a vinegary sauce.

The lady who served us was really nice as well.

If I have the chance, I will definitely return to try their other offerings.

Hit the spot! Perfectly smoked chicken and brisket, greens and not overly sweet candied yams. The owner was friendly and engaging as was his lovely wife.

We'll be back!

I'm rating it for catering, but the food was hot and delicious! I don't eat pork or chicken, so having not one, but two vegan burger options was amazing! The mac and cheese is great, cornbread has a great texture, the buns were fluffy and yummy! While I don't think we did vegan baked beans, the baked beans can be made vegan if you need it so I hope to try that next time! My coworkers seemed to like it as well! I definitely recommend it.

Man. Those burnt ends with the Texas sauce was the BEST I've had in Boston - hands down! Tasty collards, but the Mac and cheese missed the mark for me. Good people and easy ordering experience. All in all, I'd come back any day of the week.

I recently had a family event at my house, Larry J’s catered. Food was amazing the ribs disappeared instantly!!! My favorite is the candied yams😋, which have been consistently yummy since the day they opened. Definitely give it a try, you won’t be disappointed.
