Sleepy Forest is a special place in our little town! They make such delicious baked goods, it's hard to enjoy a donut from anywhere else! Love their bagels, too. There's always something exciting to find, including GF options, too!
Their breakfast sandwiches are SO GOOD!

When traveling, we're always in search of shops like these - off the highway, small, and top notch! It just makes traveling so much more enjoyable to get off the road and seek out good food from good people. Sleepy Forest Bakeshop is just the ticket. We found this bakery on our way out of town and arranged our plans on the way back so that we could get there before closing. That's how much we loved it. Every single thing we had exceeded all expectations. Between the two visits our family tried their bagels, doughnuts, scones, cinnamon roll, milk buns, and breakfast sandwich. The cold brew was absolutely perfect as well. Not a single item could have been any better - truly! You'll be hard-pressed to find better baked goods anywhere. Besides the incredible food, they have really great art on the walls and other beautiful, thoughtful gifts as well. Five stars is not enough for this shop!

Steph and Rich run this amazing bakery, filled with food made with all of their love. As a NYC native, their rosemary sea salt bagel is to die for and not something I would find in the city! All fresh and made to order products with great tastes beyond me. Would highly recommend and I look forward to revisiting next time I come back upstate.

We were passing by the Fort Plain area, and stopped here for breakfast. Some of the finest bagels I have ever had. Crispy on the outside, light and airy inside, they were really good. The doughnuts were also phenomenal, light and airy. You won't expect to stumble across such yummy goodness in such a remote place, but this might be a reason to come visit again.

Destination food! You NEED to try their donuts and breakfast sandwiches. It’s easily worth making an hour or more trip out. Their donuts are creative and don’t sacrifice taste for showmanship. The breakfast sandwiches are hearty without being heavy in your stomach. Seating is very comfortable too.

Finally I decided to stop in and I'm glad I did. My husband and I shared a Blueberry homemade pop tart and the Yeti breakfast Oh WoW I'm glad 😊 we did! The bread was really fluffy and the sandwich was full of flavor. The blueberry pop tart Oh man what a treat, the crust had great texture and the blueberry filling was definitely something ooey gooey!Also, the I think owner chatted with me and I was really comfortable and we talked about learning to cook new and different recipes and spices and flavors. The real seal of approval is my husband really liked everything too.

The Wife and I decided to treat ourselves to a morning date; and got a cinnamon roll, donut, coffee and a Dygert Farms lemonade. Everything was excellent! The staff was very nice and helpful. The ambience was very relaxing and inviting. Definitely will be back.

Phenomenal bakery! From their breakfast sandwiches to their donuts you won’t be let down. Almost a weekly ritual at this point stopping in their shop.

Great bakery with unique donuts and treats.
I ordered 8 pies for my wedding, and I had rave reviews for how delicious they were. She usually mostly Inseason fruits, no canned stuff.
We came back to try some other pastries. The pumpkin spice cruller was fanatic as well as the home made pop tarts, apple fritters.
If you're looking for special and delicious desserts.. this is the place to come.

Amazing breakfast sandwiches and baked goods! The rhubarb scones and donuts in particular are absolutely top notch and the focaccia they use for their one breakfast sandwich has wonderful texture and flavor. The prices are super reasonable considering the high quality of the food. Everyone there is very friendly and street parking is both free and readily available - an absolute must visit! Hot tip: you can customize all your sandwich orders through the online ordering portal!

Absolutely delicious place to stop with beautifully crafted donuts and savory sandwiches! We were in town on vacation and swung by and had to go again the next day. It's well worth it to visit the little town of Fort Plains NY just for this bakery you will not regret it!

This is a great bakery/coffee shop that I found out of sheer luck while riding the Erie Canal Trail. Nice couple makes everything (bagels, cookies, muffins and scones) from scratch. They even let me bring my bike inside. Definitely go there!!

Decided to stop in a pickup breakfast sandwiches for all three people at work, great prices, delicious food. And very welcoming environment and personality from staff. Will definitely visit again.

Well worth a detour off the Thruway! Hospitality and some of the best baked goods we’ve ever had. Finished our breakfast and then got more to go! Icing on the cake? A smattering of local artists wares. Lovely way to start the day.

Great sweet shop. Ambiance and service were charming. Everything looked so good- It was hard to make up my mind which pastry to try! Pop Tart was delicious and the “Cafe au Lait” was perfect! 😘😌 Great value for money too! Definitely check it out!

jewel of the entire region - rich’s hospitality and steph’s baking wizardry make SFB a must-stop. as a gluten free person, the original fresh creations here are the best i’ve ever had (raspberry filled heart-shaped pop tarts with seasonal icing??) - and they feature local artists and host community events, workshops, gatherings. a blessing to Fort Plain!

Amazing bread, cream puffs, doughnuts, cookies! Everything is so well balanced and delicious, not too sweet and with so much care! I had a cream puff just now and it was so soft and had a surprise sour cherry in the middle of the cream! Very delicatessen!
