Moonside Bakery & Cafe

I have never been to the shop but I got bakery from there twice and I am always impressed by the presentation and taste. The fruit tart looks so gorgeous that everyone needs to pull up the phone to take a photo. And it tastes amazing! The fruit is fresh, the almond paste is just right amount of sweet, the custard cream is light and smooth. Definitely one of the best fruit tarts I ever had. I definitely visit the shop myself one day.

Nice spot... It's kinda hidden (unless you know where to look for it); I like the chocolate dipped nut cookie selections. Nice place to get a good cookie and sit and chill. Not much else to so say, other than worth a stop in and at least look and try, and I think you'll be pleased. Service was good, and atmosphere was nice, not much going on when I went by however, based on the space, looks like it could have things going on during certain times of day and year.

This bakery was HIT on our trip! Pastries, fresh breakfast items, cakes, and etc! You name it - they have it. Good quality, cute little European style bakery with a very nice ambiance. We had following:

This place is half bakery and half restaurant, with a wood-fire pizza oven and a selection of salads and sandwiches. The bakery offers a wide range of breads, pastries, and cookies. Indoor (in the courtyard) and outdoor seating available. Service was fast and friendly.

Half Moon Bay is a small town on the coast not far away from San Carlos snd Belmont. You can takes half an hour drive through highway 92 to reach the town center of Half Moon Bay easily. Most of the boutique shops and stores are located at the main street. There're some nice mural paintings on the buildings. Not very crowded at weekend but weekends could be full of visitors.

We came here because the hotel we stayed last night, Mill Rose Inn, provides breakfast coupon which has two restaurants for us to choose from. And we chose Moonside bakery this morning. We ordered the Veggie Scramble, it’s good, light-seasoned, healthy. The plate comes with home style potatoes, the texture is just perfect, a little crunchy on the side but soft in the middle. It would be a good choice if you’d like to have some healthy choices here.

Had a lunch here on our day trip to Half Moon Bay. They have a patio where you can sit with your dog. They also water bowls out at the front.

We had salads, apricot danish and coffee. The salad was fresh, danish was not too sweet and apricots tasted like they were just picked of a tree.

Will come here again!

Highly recommended to visit this family run bakery and cafe. Lovely clean shop great choice of cakes and the pumpkin pie is out of this world.

Hazelnut and chocolate rings are awesome. Good smiles and a nice adjacent coutyard.

The outside patio was very nice. The pizza was delicious. The staff is very friendly, and even though it gets busy the wait is not long.

Great portions and a great variety of good food and pastries make this a favorite of visitors as well as locals.

We live overseas and I chose Moonside for our small wedding cake because of their website photos and also for the European style. Upon meeting Thomas we were pleasantly surprised to find that he is a Meister baker from Germany. I knew we made the right choice. Our cake was absolutely gorgeous! Prettier than I imagined it to be and perfect for our theme. The taste? Excellent! Not laden with sugar, but baked in the traditional German style. We would highly recommend this bakery for your wedding cake. Reasonably priced for the exceptional quality.

Just had one thing: the hazelnut ring. Best idea we had. Super tasty cookie with a layer of chocolate and hazelnuts and chocolate cream (Nutella???) on top, and it was just the right amount of sweet. Service was pleasant and simple. Awesome.

What a lovely surprise this place was when we were spontaneously hunting a lunch spot in Half Moon Bay. We sat outside out front, but they had what appeared to be bright and spacious indoor seating in the back. I got the special salad, which was delicious and had chicken that somewhat surprisingly was not at all dry. So often when you get a salad with chicken it's at least kind of dry. The salad itself was tasty and also filling (avocado helped). My husband got the sausage sandwich and also loved it. I believe it had some camembert on there that was much appreciated. We split a round chocolate hazelnut cookie that was perfect with coffee, and it was delicious too - worth the calories! Staff were friendly and super helpful, offering to hand our order out the window since that was easier for us.

All around GREAT experience. We arrived about 45 mins before they began serving breakfast, but still accommodate us. Friendly staff, great coffee, delicious food and pastries and such. Definitely recommend. Thank you!

I’be been eating here for as long as I can remember. The pizza and salads are my absolute favorite. The bread is THE BEST! The staff is friendly and helpful. So happy to have this amazing establishment in my backyard!

Good cakes and pastry's, quick service and friendly girls behind the counter. Coffee is great hear as well.

We got the #3 breakfast pizza and mimosas. It was delicious! The pizza had a crunchy crust and the tops were cooked to perfection. The mimosas here are one of the best I've ever had, you can have 2 and feel nice and toasty. Makes for a great start to walk down the avenue when the shops start to open around 10am.

Yummy, cute, and nice people working there. Always stop here for breakfast when in HMB.

Good food and outside table. Reasonable prices. I would come back again.
