Awaken Cafe & Roasting

When I'm working in Oakland, this is my go to coffee shop. The staff are absolutely fantastic, warm, and welcoming. They're also accommodating to a remote worker who is tired of being at the desk in a hotel. A few of us were posted up while working, sipping delightful coffees and teas. Lox & capers on a toasted everything bagel is my favorite.

The service was incredibly nice. The food was really good although I do recommend reading the menu and adding toppings for the avocado toast, however the toast drizzled with olive oil + avocado was really good just plain! The lavender latte with oat milk is the best one I’ve tried anywhere. Highly recommend going here. Also great for accommodating to the customer needs!

It was a coincidence to visit this roastery but a good coincidence. The first place where I could drink coffee in ceramic cup! The staff is friendly, the coffee is good (but not the dark roasted Italian style) and the place is good for work (quiet, not noisy).

Super chill coffeeshop with lots of seating, great atmosphere, and good music taste (they were playing Thundercat!) and of course, GREAT coffee. We got a lavender latte and a cortado, both 10/10. Clean bathrooms, no wifi though.

I'll definitely come back, seems like a good spot to hang with friends or sit down with a good book.

Decent spot to work: They allow laptops anywhere but no WiFi (they experimented with the right mix before landing on that policy), a few AC outlets throughout.

Tasty food menu including gluten free bagels/breads, great salads, sandwiches, and avocado toasts. Tip. the. Staff.

My husband just moved up to the bay, so we are trying to find all the local coffee shops! Awaken was really good! We enjoyed our coffee and biscuits, and there was a lot of seating inside.

My absolute favorite place for lunch! The best bagels I've ever had came from here and they also serve excellent matcha lattes. The look of the cafe is the coolest thing ever. All decor is super neat and they always have art up on the walls for sale. The outdoor and indoor seating is great + right to a park area. The service is the best I've experienced anywhere! Wait times are super reasonable even when busy, perfect for when you're on the go. Servers are always incredibly kind and helpful and often greet you with a smile :)

Downtown Oakland has an amazing coffee scene, and Awaken adds to that. Such great coffee and very kind baristas. So silky smooth with excellent flavor. There's plenty of seating inside as well. Just FYI there isn't any Wi-Fi. If you go in the late afternoon, the pastries are likely gone so go early if you want a snack as well!

First time here. We discover the place as my wife will work downtown soon. Very nice experience. Good products, unique atmosphere, sympathetic team. Surely my wife's new routine for good coffee and good moments each and every day.

Such a quaint coffee shop at the heart of the downtown. Loved the ambience and the coffee was yum.

Cool coffee shop! Immediately when you enter your immersed in the awesome vibe. Awaken has a ton of table and bar seating. The menu consists of coffee, espresso drinks, cold brew, breakfast food, lunch food, and beer.

The service is friendly and professional. My only wish is they add eggs. I’d love an egg bagel sandwich!

The toast came with high quality butter (albeit frozen) and great jam. The bread was fresh sliced.

Such a cute cafe. Love that they open in the evenings and have real seating for if you need to get some work done. Coffee is fantastic and they have baked goods too!

Top tier coffee spot; one of the best in Oakland and the Bay Area. Lavender latte and Ube latte are incredible. Top class service.

Great place to read and enjoy a cappuccino. Glad this place is open later than most coffee shops. Felt very cozy and the staff was super nice!
