Back Porch Bakery

I went up to Atascadero to visit family this weekend and came across this bakery. Soon Saturday we decided to stop in and see what they had. Silly me asked if they had any specials like a Bakers Dozen, as if they were selling donuts. I felt embarrassed after I heard what I had asked but I couldn't take it back. I ended up buying only 8 pastries but the young man behind the counter still gave me a discount! Then just before leaving to come back home today we stopped in to buy more, so that we could bring some pastries home with us since they were so delicious! I got 10 pastries this time and I didn't ask any silly questions this time either. The young man once again helped me out by giving me free pastries. I will definitely be stopping there again when I visit again. The pastries are delicious and the service is great! This place is a great place to visit!

Holy moly crazy delicious bacon-dates scones. Unlike most scones from elsewhere, theirs has a nice crunchy exterior with a dense but moist center. A perfect light breakfast to go with the smooth coffee in the morning. A great find in the central valley.

Pastries coffee and sandwiches are great. Service is a little brusque.
It would be nice to get a plate with dine in orders instead of a bag.

Stopped in for breakfast and everything looked amazing and was delicious.

This place is unreal. We enjoyed a lunch sandwich and picked up some side bready. I also have an espresso drink which taste amazing. Thanks!

There's a broad selection of pastries and goodies. It was a quick and easy stop to pickup breakfast to take out, but there's several seats and a few tables to sit and eat.

The staff was friendly and helpful, striking up a conversation while they prepared tasty meals and beverages. The food service was timely with probably around a 5-ish minute wait for a few servings.

The quality of the food was incredible; the croissant is fresh and crunchy, even with other ingredients like avocado. That was a refreshing breakfast.

Best BLT I’ve ever had. Sampled the Fougasse and ended up getting the whole thing(even though it may have been too ambitious for me to finish it). Can’t wait to come in again!

The croissants here are amazing!! Expensive, but very delicious, both the sweet and savory ones. They also warm it up for you if want!

The Blue cheese walnut bread and the morning buns are Outstanding!

Oh the croissants! Best I have ever tasted. The almond was amazing as suggested by the staff. Feta and cheese was great too. More stops will be required before we go home!

Having eaten at the bakery several times now and enjoyed their bread even a few more times I must say this is a place worth dropping into. They only do breakfast and lunch and the lunch menu is a little small but the quality is so there. There are many pastries to choose from for breakfast and they'll make your eggs or oatmeal or whatever else you might like it seems that there's something to please everybody on their little menu. Now to the breads. I must say I really like their baguettes and their other breads. It's also nice to have olive bread available anytime you want. This place is clean, nice, hip with a great staff and wonderful food. It's not fast food and it's worth every minute. Bring your friends have a coffee carry on and enjoy some beautiful croissants and more. this time I'll see you there

Okay I'm going to say this, since my 3 years living in the US (I'm from europe) THE BEST bread I've found in the states so far!

Their croissants are amazing, good coffee, fresh orange juice! It was well worth it to stop by here, simply loved it!

The shop itself was also very nice and clean, loved the decorations and the staff was very friendly. Would recommend anyone to stop by here for a good breakfast!

Wow the breads they make are nothing short of amazing. I usually go here for breakfast, you can't beat their French toast. If you are simple and just want pancakes, there are plenty of good places in Atascadero to choose. But if you want something special, definitely check this place out. And for sure get a morning bun: I've never had anything like them and I find myself craving them if I haven't been in a while.

The back porch Bakery is one of my favorite places to get lunch on the hall Central Coast. They have a small selection of sandwiches which include a BLT, a turkey sandwich, and a curry chicken croissant. They are a full serious bakery and make the most amazing bread you've ever had. The sandwich selection is made with their completely amazing bread. My favorite is the BLT which is on this crunchy but light bread cut about an inch thick with wonderful bacon generously Laird with a special sauce. The great thing about having lunch here is that they have wonderful coffee which is very strong and delicious to finish off your meal. They also have a selection of desserts of the day which are all very tasty as well. They are a extremely friendly group of people and you will enjoy the atmosphere whether you sit inside or outside on the sidewalk. This is also a place where a lot of people pick up bread for the house.
