ModelCave (Hobby Shop)

I returned to the hobby shop while in the area yesterday to hopefully locate a set of decals for a very specific model. I was astonished that they had what I was looking for IN THE SHOP and that he remembered me from years prior when I used to live in the nearby. I absolutely recommend coming here for all of your needs for whatever model you're building.

If you are a model builder do not even think of visiting another shop. ModelCave is one of the most well stocked model making shops I’ve ever visited. If you like building kits; they have seemingly everything in production. If you prefer building from scratch they have all the tools and materials for your project. If you just like painting figures they have multiple paint racks that stock the basics all the way to advanced effect paints. ModeCave has absolutely everything you will ever need. The staff are incredibly helpful, friendly and a joy to visit with. No matter your skill level they have advice and materials that WILL make you a better model builder. Go to ModelCave you will not regret it.

This place is absolutely awesome. The owners r awesome. My son and I drive an hour just to shop here. The model kit and paint selection is top notch. Highly recommended!!!

Very knowledgeable, very reasonable prices, personal and professional, one on one with hobbyist owners. Allow time to browse, when you think you are finished, oh wait there's more over there.

This is definitely the hobby shop that plastic model builder/collectors dream about at night. The place is literally packed full of vintage and new kits.

The quintessential small business local hobby shop. This shop is clearly a personal business run by people who want to be the go-to place for fellow hobbyists in the area.
ModelCave has a GREAT selection and will gladly order what they might not have for you (in my experience). They also have a wide selection of paints and hobby tools from many of the major players, both U.S. and Japanese (and France for Citadel paints).
Prices are extremely competitive being the same, or lower, than most websites. And that's not including the beating you take on shipping these days.

Great selection of kits at very reasonable prices. Saw a neat looking Zaku here, and I’ve been hooked on Gundam models ever since.
The staff here are extremely friendly and helpful. They offer great advice for your particular modeling needs, and if they have something you want, they’ll hold onto it for you. Just a genuinely wonderful shop.

Stopped by, glad I did. Great selection, prices seemed fair, and they were not grouchy!!! Support your brick and mortar stores, especially independent owned stores! The internet is what it is. But to be able to walk into a hobby store, not a hobby lobby or craft store and enjoy that experience is getting harder and harder to come by. I picked up a 1/48 B25 for under $30 bucks. That beats ebay with shipping, and I had it when I wanted it! :)

Small hole in the wall shop with MASSIVE selection. Me and my son stopped through here today and couldn't believe the amount of kits here. On top of that the store clerks were friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. Furthermore their prices are near at cost and very competitive. We will definitely be back

They have a huge selection of everything and anything you'd want for scale modeling, and are super nice and helpful. Absolutely stacked floor to ceiling with cars, tanks, boats, aircraft and gunpla kits, plus an impressive selection of paint, glue and tools. I'll absolutely be back when it comes time to paint the models I got today.

I cannot recommend this store highly enough. The owners are incredibly kind and helpful, the store is always well stocked with a great selection, and the prices are very fair. Definitely the best hobby store in Washtenaw County.

Great place for a scale model hobbyist. They have an amazing selection of kits, paints, and every other accessory and tools that you might need. And they offer helpful advice and tips free of charge. They're always friendly, and make you feel welcome. Very family friendly place. If you build models, this is the place to go!

I have been there several times. My main interest is Gundams, of which they have quite a good selection. They also have many other Ban Dai lines such as Star Wars and Dragon Ball Z. It's a true mom and pop shop, and you can tell they love what they do. Their dog is nice too. So far prices match well with the online retailers. If I remember correctly you can order models through them. Great selection of paint as well. Overall a great local shop run by great people.

I would give this store 6 Stars if i was able to. An astronomical amount of models in every scale imaginable, including a plethora of vintage ones. When you go, i urge you to price check any model you take off the shelf, 99% of the time they are like 10-20% cheaper than any retail or online store, sometimes even more! The owners are SUPER kind and go out of their way to help you. With not many stores like this left (actually none within a 50 mile radius of me besides this one) i find myself there a couple times a month. Definitely worth a visit if youre in the area, and i would argue worth a visit even if you where 50 miles away. Best model store i have ever been to hands down.

Best model and hobby store I have been to. Great selection. Excellent employees. Very helpful and knowledgable staff, they have helped me a lot during my trips. Really good shop for Gundam, tons of military and historic kits. Tons of vehicles!

Great shop. One of the best in the country IMHO. Specializes in model kits and the tools, supplies, materials needed to build them. Melissa and Jon are great and will work to find you whatever you are looking for be it aircraft, armor, auto, ships, Gundam, Sci fi, ......

Wonderful hobby shop family owned and run. Its a bit away from us (2 hour drive) but we love to go as often as possible. They are very well stoked and knowledgeable. If you need paint for your models look no further they have more colors then you could dream of.
