My gal pal came into town and since we both love thrifting we opt for this relatively unknown jewel. It's off the beaten path and you enter through a door in the back off the alley (super cool). The place is beautifully organized and clean. After you enter keep walking back to the end which takes you to another building entirely and has kitchen items, linens, pillows and a children's section. I always start at the back and work my way up front. Trust me, you won't be disappointed by the sheer volume of funky and cool stuff. The middle is filled with paintings and as you enter the front it's all clothes, shoes and more upscale items. The check out desk has beautiful jewelry and I found a gorgeous pair of sterling silver hammered hoop earrings for 18.99 signed by the artist! SCORE! Again, it's off the beaten path but well worth a visit! The employees are very friendly and helpful! Pretty much everything is reasonably priced AND unlike some well known "thrift" stores their CEO isn't paid millions. 'Nuff said.
P.s. I bought this Yankee candle brand new, never been lit (until it landed at my house) for $2.00!!!!

Friendly workers, most things were reasonably, and fairly priced, the venue is outstanding. Things are fairly well organized. The shop is very clean. It is certainly a thrift store in Lawrence. That is worth checking out.

To put in words the heartfelt experience I had at the Social Service League, I feel would not do it justice. Lisa is sweet, kind, and understanding, compassionate person.Who made the experience truly beautiful. She was able to help me feel safe, not judged, and even had me smiling and laughing during a hard time to feel good about myself..To have people and places like this makes the world a better place💖

This thrift store provides important services to those in need in the Lawrence community. Homeless people can get some free clothing and food. The League provides eyeglasses for local needy children. Prices in the store are low and the quality and variety of merchandise is good, often excellent. This is a very well managed store staffed largely by volunteers. It is housed in a historic stone building.

Where do start: I would guess with, U. In every city , town , village or burg. There's a community leader, in its public affairs or mission statement as to their fabric of constitution. In the 100 mile surrounding area Douglas county . Lawrence to be specific, is the place of tranquility, for your family structure and academic gain. The resilient nature of its caring people, for nourishment of the soul, heart and the poor. Is of an unspoken word.sometimes we don't have to say. a word but read between the lines to fill in the space. Thats what the city leaders the community and it's social service league of volunteers has done , and would like to someday stand tall in your halls . and would ask that if there's a way for me to pay it forward. By volunteering my time . i'd be. Honored . your Friend Reynaldo Garza

Not sure what J Garcia felt was overpriced, but in my experience they are way way cheaper than goodwill et al. But if an item WAS overpriced, i have no doubt they would be open to negotiation. But as it is, stuff i've seen is priced so low, i cant imagine them dropping any lower. Moreover if u are hurting financially, they'll just give you clothes, shoes and whatever u need, which is amazing. Finally, J Garcia, it's a thrift shop staffed largely by volunteers and running on a minimal budget (unlike Goodwill). If you want shiny floors and perfect organization, consider going retail--or maybe volunteer to help tidy the place up. As your observation suggests, they could probably use the help ;)

The Social Service League is NOT closed; indeed it has been in continuous operation since its founding to assist survivors of the infamous Quantrill raid of August 21, 1863. The store was temporarily re-located for recent renovations but has now returned to its original location at 905 Rhode Island Street, Lawrence, Kansas.
The Social Service League continues to assist needy local families and anybody else who cares to visit its quaint store, filled with clothing, toys, household goods, and a plethora of other treasures.
