Venus on the Half Shell

Out of all of the shop keepers and caretakers in Frederick that I’ve met while touring the city, I have to give Jennifer and Eddie 100% props for being the most enthusiastic, care-for-a-job-well-done people I’ve ever met.

Not only do I like their choice selections in fashion and accessories, but I also love how they pay attention to every single detail of Venus on the Half Shell from how the mannequins are displayed to how they pack up purchases. I especially love that Jennifer writes her name on the back of business cards before customers leave. She definitely knows how to treat everyone around her like family. I can understand why Eddie especially loves working here.

I hope to come back here soon for a social gathering of some sort. I can’t imagine a day in which it wouldn’t be possible to expect either wine and cheese or tea and cookies upon entering the shop to the sounds of April March music playing on a vinyl record.

Oh and don’t forget that beautiful incense from New Orleans! Yes, Jennifer, I still remember it. :)

Amazing, unexpected, classy and fun artful textile items worth of your investment. Even if prices were a little above my expectations, left the store happy as a reuse master with 3 classic items, after trying dozens of their amazing, higher quality pieces. Loved the music, the set up, the kindness of their staff. If I’m ever back in Frederick, I’ll plan my visit to stop here again.

Venus on the Half Shell is five stars in many ways! The store is clean, organized, the pieces are true vintage and the quality is amazing. You wouldn't believe that the pieces could be as old as they are and still remain in a "like new" condition. The Owner has an amazing heart and passion for what she does. This is passed down to her assistants which help create an environment that provides a fun and beautiful vibe. You will want to grab a coffee before you walk in so you can take your time and enjoy the ride going back in time to find some really beautiful pieces to take home. Support local!

Holy! Wow! What an experience. This place not only has amazing finds, but an AMAZING crew that loves vintage and loveeees what they do. An absolute treasure.

This is the way vintage should be done: Tastefully and artfully. The owner was fabulous, and the store was just fun to be in. We went back again two hours after the first time!

This is one of the best well curated vintage stores in the DC Baltimore area. The selection is incredible- men's and women's clothing- fabulous accessories- I have bought the best quality vintage coach bags here. The jewelry selection is perfect for gifts for my sister every holiday. The staff is knowledgeable and takes great pride in the store. Love it.

The store was amazing! I visited yesterday and found a bunch of things that I'm soooo excited to wear. The owner was very sweet as well and recommended a few other vintage clothes stores that me and my friends will definitely check out.

I've always loved this place! I first went in probably 2015-6ish and fell in love! So many gems and unique finds.

Such an awesome store! I've gotten some really cool pieces from here. There are so many cool things here and I love to just come and look around (like taking a walk back in time!). The staff is also really sweet and I enjoy talking with them

Simply the best! Wonderful and knowledgeable staff that truly loves finding and offering vintage treasures. One of the best things is that they aren't pushy and you can get an honest answer; I tried on a gorgeous blazer but was on the fence and they actually told me not to buy it and that I needed something with a better fit (it was a tad too big in the shoulders). It would have been so easy to just sell it to me. I love that.

Lovely staff. Fun boutique. Terrific prices. Really nice selection of both men's and women's vintage clothing. Decent selection of vintage jewelry and purses. As well as a limited but beautiful offering of vintage furnishings.

Many interesting clothing and jewelry pieces will bring much pleasure to your day of purchasing and perusing. The cultivated ambiance was fantastic when I visited, including the 80s music repertoire that was playing louder than most would venture, but which was entirely appropriate and tasteful given the immaculate song selection. In addition, I throughly enjoyed conversing with the staff.

Imo, one of Frederick's most interesting and best put together shops. If you appreciate excellence, you must visit.

Love this place. A lot of great, interesting items as well as some classic Scandinavian / modern furniture. Always a treat to do a quick run-through. Plus the staff is fantastic.

The owner is so energetic and helpful. She finds true delight in the clothing she sells and she is great at finding just the right piece.

Great collection of vintage clothing, accessories and other fun, funky, unique items. Owner could be a tad more responsible in returning phone calls for appointments.

Great selection. Prices were a little higher than I like but lots to choose from and the owner was really friendly.
