I had to write this review to share my experience. Yes before I came here I had my doubts because of the reviews, but I've never had a bad experience in my 2 years of doing business with these folks. They have always answered the phone and were always courteous. The rental price for my son's viola was extremely reasonable. Yes, they do keep their door locked and don't allow customers inside but that has never bothered me because I'm sure they have their own reasons for needing to do that. No, you are not going to get fake plastered smiles or warm fuzzy welcomes but what you can expect is good honest service from people who truly care about music and are very knowledgeable about instruments.

A store for flutes/musicians! Knowledgeable, experienced, and committed staff. We didn’t call ahead but they were still totally accommodating - but please do call ahead because they will give you premium service 🙂 it’s to the benefit of you both. They are covid conscious so you get all of their attention, one customer (and their guests if applicable) at a time. They were thorough and kind.

Friendly, knowledgeable service. I am an oboist and rented a student oboe for my child. The instrument quality is better than what I could get at chain music rental companies (physical and online) and the price is very reasonable.

I have been renting an instrument for my g.daughter from this company for a few years! I’ve never had a problem with their service! I just recently received a notice that her instrument was completely paid in full. I can’t believe some of these reviews! I would recommend this store to anyone wishing to rent an instrument from them!

I am a musician and have played saxophone and clarinet for a number of years. Last year I took on the flute and recently wanted to upgrade. My teacher (Kelly Meholic who is a gem) recommended I make an appointment with Alison at Whipkey's. Alison did a great job working me to assess my needs in an instrument and match me to an appropriate flute. I couldn't be happier with the service I received and the Powell flute which I purchased. I'm thankful that I chose to visit and make my own assessment rather than be stopped by some of the negative reviews I saw. I can only say that my experience was great. Great service, fair price!

I rented a violin and viola two weeks ago when lots of other parents where there too. Yes, they do require good credit history and two credit cards with available credit to cover the cost of the instrument. This is a family business not a chain store. If you know you have credit problems, you may be better off with another company. I have been pleased with their service and kindness. I had to go back because I thought we had a bow issue but we didn't. It was a new bow and new resin and they showed me how to fix it.

The relaxed and friendly atmosphere at Whipkey's makes it a pleasure to visit. On a recent visit, I went because I thought there was something wrong with the flute I bought there. With the help of Allison, I was able to make a breakthrough in understanding how to play my flute! Allison's knowledge and expertise in teaching made this such a memorable visit! And, even though Whipkey's sells new flutes, she said I did not need a new flute. That personal service was so helpful. Now I am enjoying my flute practice more than ever and I love my new sound!

I went into to see the folks at Whipkey's after calling the day before about a problem with the foot-joint on my Powell Conservatory Model flute. As always, it was a pleasant experience and Mr. Whipkey had things working well in just a few minutes. He and his wife Allison are so knowledgeable in all areas concerning the instruments and music that I feel completely safe having them work on my flute and am glad to get any advice they give.
I recommend them highly for anyone wanting the best in instrument purchase, repair, or lessons. You will be treated fairly and kindly.

Had a wonderful experience! Wonderful people who truly love music! Mr Whipkey took care of my horn while I waited and was honest with me about the work I was asking about on my horn. I appreciated the candor and the quick work. Waiting with baited breath for him to finish restoring a horn that he showed me today in the store. Hopefully it will be mine in the new year!

I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincerest thanks and gratitude to Mr. Whipkey and Ms. Allison who recently went beyond the call of duty to resolve an issue that we were faced with suddenly.

My daughter who plays flute in her school band had an emergency situation a few days ago when the flute that we had earlier purchased from Mr. Whipkey developed some problem. She was to perform on a Saturday morning but found on Friday night that there was an issue with her flute.

We called Mr. Whipkey and left a message on his voice mail at his shop late night on Friday explaining our situation. To our utmost surprise, Ms. Allison called back the same night and after calming us down, asked us to bring the flute to the store at 7:00 am on Saturday morning despite the fact that the store is not supposed to open till 10:00 am on Saturdays.

Sure enough, Mr. Whipkey was at his store at 7:00 in the morning when we arrived there with the broken flute. Within no time, he replaced it with a brand new flute of the same kind while keeping the mouthpiece from the old flute so my daughter did not have to re-adjust her lips.

Such level of professional service, coupled with personal sentiments shown by Mr. Whipkey and Ms. Allison, is quite rare these days. Not only Mr. Whipkey agreed to fix the problem in a professional manner, he took special care in our case to ensure my daughter was able to perform as scheduled. I am forever indebted to Mr. Whipkey and Ms. Allison for such level of personal care while dealing with their customers.

Also, Ms. Allison, taking time out from her busy schedule, helped us pick the right flute for our daughter and spent quite a bit of time with her giving her very invaluable tips on how to play the flute and how to excel in it. Her guidance proved to be of immense value in improving my daughter's skill and it continues to help her even now after nearly a month.

I am also thankful to Mr. Kelly who is the flute tutor of my daughter and who recommended Mr. Whipkey when we were considering buying a flute for her.

Very knowledgeable about instruments. High-end seller. Not for your run of the mill internet shopper kid. But, they do supply fine instruments for rent at reasonable prices. Also, an extremely experienced concert flautest gives lessons for all ages at this store. Additionally, they have an instrument repairer on site who may be able to fix small repairs while you wait. Don't be put off by the strip mall location in Marietta or the cluttered look of the store. These people are real professionals and have been doing this for over 30 years. And you can always count on them to tell you the truth about your instrument.

Dane is incredibly knowledgeable and helpful when it comes to saxophone. They work well within your price range. I’m so happy I went to them! A truly lovely experience.

Super helpful and friendly customer service, and they had what we needed at 5:45 pm on a Sunday. Gentleman suggested using a silver polishing cloth instead of silver polish which my son thought was better; until he used the cloth and it worked wonders! Thank you!

For the past six years with two separate kids, I have used Whipkey's for all of my instrument and music supply needs to include music lessons. Professionalism and quality service abounds. If you have a musical need, I would highly recommend Whipkey's.
