Soga Shabu Shabu

Shabu shabu (Japanese hot pot) served here was really good! Plan to have a long and lazy meal. They do an outstanding all you can eat option. Plenty of great options on the cold buffet! They'll also do a split pot for mild and spicy broths if someone in your group doesn't prefer spicy food. Both were amazing! I can't speak to their other stuff, but try the shabu shabu!

The restaurant looks nice and clean, probably the best out of all the Chinese restaurants in the campus area. They offer two menus, one with the more "American" foods, such as sweet and sour or general tso's chicken, and the second offers more tradition foods, such as noodle soups, intestines, tripe and other less americanized entrees. I've only ordered off the "traditional" menu and gotten seafood soups both times. The broth is delicious, the actual fish was a little lower quality but that is usually what I expect when I get seafood in Wisconsin. My friend got the The service was a little slow since there were only two waitresses working but not to the point that it would bother me. There was a little struggle in communicating, for example when I asked for cilantro I had to show the waitress a picture I pulled up on my phone but once I explained to her what I wanted she came back with a very good amount. Overall I was very happy with my experiences here, especially since I have been looking for a place where I can get things such as tripe or oxtail soup. I would recommend this to anyone who would like to get some more "traditional" Chinese food and doesn't mind service a little slower than in most American restaurants.

I was pleasantly surprised here. They have the "Americanized" menu that I expected to see, based on the outdoor advertising, but then there is a whole other menu with more Traditional style items. Makes for a lot of choices that will keep me coming back to try.
All I have been craving lately is General Tso's tofu, and this was the best I have had in Madison so far. They have milk teas which made me happy. The portions are huge. My step dad had a big beautiful bowl of Udon soup, and my mom had Shrimp Lo Mein with very nice looking shrimp.
I can't complain about the service, because our waitress was serving that whole restraunt by herself which was fairly busy because of the Cross Fit games, and doing it in a pretty timely fashion considering. She was also very sweet. I've been in the service industry for a long while and I give kudos to wait staff working their buns off like that.
Last but not least, free dessert bar in the back full of little snacky things to grab before you leave. ☺

The hot pot is delicious. Service was fast for lunch. They have American Chinese and Traditional Chinese on the menu, and it's all legit. If you want to be adventurous or safe this place is great.

Excellent hot pot! As good as any we had in China. We go at least once a week. Their menu items are very good too. Expand your horizons and try them.

best chinese restaurant in town. Great food, polite servise, free fresh fruit and dessert. They serve hotpot as well, great deal with a lot of food to eat. Deserve a visit
