Stroudwater Lodge

As Senior Living Advisors we have had the wonderful opportunity to recommend Stroudwater Lodge to our clients for over seven years. The families we have helped have been very happy with their decision to move their loved ones there. From the moment you walk in the door you can sense the warm and friendly atmosphere the community projects. The staff is awesome, the decor is beautiful and backyard is great too! Stroudwater Lodge is a very nice assisted living that we are very proud to present to our clients.

Stroudwater Lodge is such a beautiful facility! The apartments are spacious and well set up for older adults. The staff truly cares about the residents and treats them like family. Lots of fun activities too!

My mother lived at Stroudwater Lodge for eight months. During that time she loved the community, the caregivers, and her whole experience there. I remember how warmly she was greeted on day one and how everyone was welcoming. She made friends with others who sat at her dinner table as well as her caregivers. I always felt she was in good hands. The Lodge was always well maintained and I would hear the staff always speak respectfully not just to my mother but to everyone. The staff kept me apprised of any changes and responded to questions promptly. Even when it was time for my mother to move to a nursing facility, the staff at the Lodge made the process easy. I would highly recommend this community.

My 101 year old dad has been there since early July. The staff has been wonderful and he has been able to easily make friends. He tells me he is so busy that sometimes he doesn't get to read his newspaper until late afternoon.
His 1 bedroom apartments is perfect and he tells me the food is very good.
I was initially worried about the transition but when I see or talk to him he tells me this is the best move he could have made at this time in life.

My adorable parents moved into Stroudwater Lodge exactly 2 weeks ago today. They moved out of their beautiful home (that Dad built himself!) in Scarborough after living there for 54 years. Our experience so far has been simply incredible! We have all been welcomed with open arms and feel like part of the Stroudwater family already. The food is absolutely delicious and the care, top notch. They have surely made this most emotional and difficult transition much easier and for that, we are grateful!

My mother relocated from out of state to Stroudwater Lodge within the past year. It was a huge transition and move for her from her home of 60 years to an independent/assisted living community in a different state. From the moment I walked through the doors for the initial tour, I felt the warmth, authenticity and positive energy that permeates throughout Stroudwater Lodge. The buildings and grounds are beautiful, but it is the staff that truly make Stroudwater such a special and loving place. Much to our surprise, my mom has adjusted beautifully and is very happy overall living at the Lodge. The activities are interesting, intellectually and physically stimulating with a variety offered each day. Art, music, exercise classes and so much more keep my mom engaged and busy. She has made some really good friends and has the best of both worlds as to plenty of socialization but also a lovely and comfortable fully equipped apartment to relax in when she wants some downtime. My brothers and I have peace of mind knowing my mom is a part of a caring community that offers so much. Thank you Nicole, Lea, Becca, Paige, Laurie, and all of the wonderful staff at Stroudwater Lodge for everything that you do to make Stroudwater Lodge the special place that it is!!!

After visiting one assisted living facility after another every day for more than a week, I met Lea Rust at Stroudwater Lodge and instantly knew it was the right place for my father-in-law. Lea is so down-to-earth and so in touch with the very human side of assistive care. Not only was my chat with her informative and reassuring, witnessing her interactions with residents made apparent the high level of care offered here. Of course, the facility itself was welcoming and homey, clearly focusing on the personal needs and comfort of residents. Lea and professional staff went above and beyond to make sure we placed my 87-year-old father-in-law in the appropriate environment. Needless to say, he is thriving at Stroudwater.

Stroudwater has created a caring, safe and supportive home for three of our family members!! It provides opportunities for enjoyable activities that enrich their lives.

I can't say enough good things about my mom's experience here. The facility itself is beautiful... she moved in early winter and I remember driving up thinking it looked like a fancy ski lodge! As soon as you step in you feel the positive energy... music playing, seasonal decorations, flowers, fireplace crackling and lots of people doing different things. It feels ALIVE. The place she had been before felt like a morgue. When my mom was there a few of her neighbors had dogs which was so wonderful to see... sometimes you could hear a resident practicing her saxophone. The dining room and pub are lovely (my mother loved the happy hours!) and they even have a beautiful demo kitchen for classes and demonstrations. There is a movie theater and a gym and salon upstairs... she had her hair done every week. The building has a big patio and backs up to conservation land so it is lush and beautiful with lots of wildlife. The staff in every department is incredible. I felt completely safe and confident that my mother was getting excellent care. I could sleep. I could even go away and not worry. Which is amazing. There are different apartment configurations and my mom had a larger one bedroom with a den which we turned into more of a dining room. The maintenance folks were very responsive and helped us customize her space. My only regret is that she didn't move in sooner. It is such a wonderful community I wish she had been in better shape to take advantage of all the programming and to make some good friends. Still, she loved her apartment and the staff and was so well cared for. I really can't recommend Stroudwater more highly.

My mother has been there for 10+ months and the experience has been nothing but outstanding. She's made tons of friends, the food has been fantastic, and the staff are SUPER attentive and caring. I moved her from another facility which was MORE expensive and deserves a 1-star rating b/c they're so bad. If you're looking for a GREAT place for your mom or dad, you'd be very hard pressed to find any other facility that's on par with Stroudwater.

Our Mom had a very tough time with the loss of her husband of 30 years. Health issues and the required sale of her long-time home and large property made life much harder for her. The experienced staff at Stroudwater Lodge provided comfort and personal attention. Their caring assistance helped her transition to a wonderful 1 bedroom apartment. They made her feel at home, introduced her to some new friends, and now Mom is thriving and feels connected to a community. She participates in activities,, eats regular, healthy meals with friends , and has help anytime she needs anything. Our family feels welcome and comfortable visiting with her there. We are so happy and relieved that she is safe and doing really well, thank you Stroudwater Lodge.

My mother has lived at Stroudwater Lodge for over a year and has been very happy there. The staff is kind, dedicated, and respectful. When my father died unexpectedly, everyone at the lodge went above and beyond to comfort my mom and provide love and support. My mom has found a community at the lodge that gives my sisters and me peace of mind and provides my mom with meaningful relationships and activities every day.

I just love Stroudwater Lodge. My parents lived there and they were wonderful with them. The staff is so caring and very helpful. The programs offered really helped to keep my mom busy and I must say my Dad loved keeping involved and enjoying the mens club. The food was awesome and they always did an amazing job decorating and preparing for the holidays. We were so happy there.

My mom moved into Stroudwater Lodge from out of state about 8 months ago. She has made good friends and adjusted quite well to her new and very different environment. The staff is great at engaging her and the other residents in fun and enriching activities. I looked at several communities in southern Maine before choosing Stroudwater Lodge, and I’m so happy we made the right choice!

It is never easy for someone to give up there independence and it was no different for my mother in law. Without the help of the staff from Stroudwater Lodge we would not have been successful in her transition. When we initially approached the conversation with her we were met with great resistance, but through a partnership with the Stroudwater Lodge team she was able to see the benefit of moving to their facility. Their main concern was that my mother in law felt comfortable with the move and they went above and beyond with visiting her at her home to answer her questions and allowing her to visit the facility and participate in activities so that she would get a better sense of the community she would be moving into. While we struggled to get her there initially she absolutely LOVES it there and is thriving with the social aspect of her daily life. We find it difficult to get in touch with her because she is always out of her room taking part in the social activities and spending time with her new friends. When we visit she continuously speaks about how kind they are to her, how clean the facility is and how thankful she is for having such a wonderful place to live if she can't live in her own home safely. We can not thank them enough for their partnership during a very difficult transition and for being so wonderful to her!

The Lodge and their staff have been exceptional helping us navigate through our mother's transition to the assisted senior living lifestyle. The piece of mind we've gained by her being at Stroudwater Lodge is tremendous.

My father has lived at Stroudwater Lodge for 2 years now and he loves it. The setting is tranquil, beautifully maintained and true to it's name......just like a Lodge. The staff is AMAZING, not only with the residents, but with family member's as well. They are always professional, courteous, and will bend over backward to help with anything. The food is amazing, the activities are well thought out, engaging and enjoyable for everyone. Knowing my father is at Stroudwater gives myself and my siblings peace of mind that he is well taken care of and happy. Special shoutout to Lea, Nicole, Julie, Lindsay, Nicki, the maintenance team and the housekeepers. They all rock!!! I wholeheartedly recommend Stroudwater Lodge.

Stroudwater Lodge has been a life changing experience for my mother. She has lived here for over a year, and as of this review she still raves about the food, the staff, the activities and overall expresses her absolute happiness. For several years, she had been living alone in a rural setting in Southern Maine. Moving here has allowed her to live her best life. At 74, she is thriving! She is very social and participates in so many activities that she enjoys. It's heartwarming to hear her talk about her day and how fulfilled she is.
The staff genuinely care about their residents. At our initial interview, I was asked to share Mum's hobbies, interests, and favorite foods, among other items. When visiting (before appropriate pandemic restrictions had to be implemented), the staff expressed their care, compassion and kindness to Mum and myself. There is a personal vibe to this place that is appreciated and palpable. I sincerely cannot speak highly enough of Stroudwater Lodge. I am grateful to everyone who works there.

Our family feels truly fortunate to have found Stroudwater Lodge.
The staff always shows a genuine concern and caring with my mother-in-law. They have several activities that she can enjoy or she just relax in her warm and homey apartment. I'm so pleased that she is there and can feel confident that all of her wants and needs are being taken care of by people who care. I know she feels like they are part of her family now and for this we are forever grateful!

Stroudwater Lodge is a beautiful facility with positive and caring staff members. There are many daily and appropriate activities for the residents which keep them engaged at various levels. This is a place where "Everybody Knows Your Name"! I tell my friends that living at Stroudwater is like being on a cruise ship. Meals (3 every day) are served in fine dining fashion, complete with tablecloths, menus, and table service. It has a real elegance and lovely social atmosphere.

My Mom had never lived away from her home and was resistant to trying out an assisted living facility. After my brother and I researched, visited and interviewed area senior residences, we thought Stroudwater Lodge would be a good fit for her. I am happy to say that Mom is Thriving!

From Day 1 of moving in, my mother became engaged in the daily activities which she absolutely enjoys. Imagine our surprise when we saw the masterpiece she created with water colors! We never knew our Mom had artistic talent! She is up in the morning and does not return to her room until bedtime. Mom enjoys interaction with the residents and staff and, in reciprocal fashion, they enjoy her. Everyone is respectful of one another thus creating a very calm and positive social atmosphere. Family members and friends are welcome to visit at anytime. Her one bedroom apartment is welcoming and there are areas in the Lodge where residents can "entertain" guests.

The most important factors are that her medications are administered at the correct times and she is receiving good nutrition. Her care plan is tailored based on her personal needs as well as conversation with family members to find a good fit. There are periodic checkins and whenever I have a concern there is always someone to follow up on her care plan. I have confidence in knowing that her needs are met.

For anyone reading this review, I suggest that you take a good look at all of the activities, which are inclusive of the price. Talk to the residents and ask them what they like about The Lodge. I can say that my Mom is enjoying life again. This makes us all very happy. There is no price one can place on this satisfaction.
