Matchhead Coffee

I was greeted with a friendly smile by a barista before I even opened the door. I was surprised at how large the shop is! It's got a loveley atomosphere-very much a retro 70's vibe and a very OPEN layout. There's cute tables stationed throughout and the cutest decor and nice music. Probably my favorite coffee shop I've geen to! If you haven't gone, check it out and spend some time there :)

Give this place a try! I always get the chai latte, and it is always delicious. The seasonal drinks are fun too. The staff is always very friendly, and the prices are reasonable. They have a nice big space, making it easy to find somewhere to sit. Just wish they were open in the evenings before the prayer meetings.

Espresso is great. Has a big round acidity and body, and the flavor lingers. No bitterness. Served in porcelain with a spoon and sparkling water on a wooden platter.

Come to town for a meeting and I always like to support local coffee shops. This place is amazing. Katie is amazing and super sweet. Her attentiveness and customer service made the coffee all a beautiful experience.

Came here for my morning coffee. It was delicious! The baristas were humble, kind and relaxed! The atmosphere was welcoming and creative! I enjoyed my morning cup so much, I came back to get an afternoon cup and snagged a giant delicious chocolate chip cookie. 12/10 recommend! Wishing there was a Matchhead where I live!

After reading some reviews, it seems like there are some angry people leaving bad reviews just because this coffee shop is operated by a Church. Sad.

Caffeine gets me woke, not liberal ideologies. Keep doing what you’re doing Matchhead!

I got an oatmilk latte and a giant whoopie pie to split with friends. Great coffee, great atmoshpere, very chill. Love that the baristas donate their tips back to humanitarian organizations and I appreciate the early hours!

Wow, super friendly. I ordered a pour over and holy cow is was so good. Next time I am downtown I will be stopping in again.

Amazing chai latte and mint tea. The atmosphere is too dark for me but we sat near the front windows so it made for a great morning. Most of the visitors sat alone with there laptops and headphones in the darkest regions. The furniture is so comfy. The workers are great at what they do. Also any tips you give and profits go toward some good causes. I don't know how the baristas are paid but they must have something worked out. It does take a minute to get your order though, don't expect it to be like other coffee joints. All in all it isn't a bad place to go.

Great place! Atmosphere is modern and relaxing. Service is prompt and very friendly. Coffee and food are very good. Contrary to many reviews, the Church behind this place does a lot of good for the community of Kalamazoo that not everyone realizes, and they are most certainly NOT a "hate cult"!

Great coffee, great atmosphere, great space. Matchhead's customer service has also been excellent. The inside includes a clean and beautiful modern design and is an inviting place to meet friends or get work done. The coffee quality is also top notch and is something the Kalamazoo area has been missing for a long time. Thanks Matchhead for always being great!

New to town and looking for someplace to work, found this spot around the corner from where I live. Good coffee, great pastries, and the barista was very friendly. I got the pumpkin cake/bar and a miel latte. The latte was well made with a nice layer of foam that held.
Very open and inviting atmosphere with plenty of space to work/study. Love the ambience overall. Will def be back
