Dr. Matthew Israel

Dr. Matthew Israel was amazing! His bedside manner is phenomenal and as an anxious teen, he did great at making me feel comfortable. He had a positive attitude and was very upbeat. He answered all of our questions and soothed our worries, and even gave some easy treatment options that didn't involve medications. I never once felt unsafe or pressured and he was very respectful and professional. He loves his craft and it shows!

He is straight to the point. Always asks if I have any questions and answers them. Made me aware of the seriousness of our little girls condition without causing me to panic. We were referred to Birmingham by him for a second opinion, and we had no surprises. They confirmed everything Dr. Israel had been telling us.

Great care. Kind staff.

This pediatric Dr has no patience with the kids. Was very rude with my 7 yr old son and had him crying. He needs to have better bed side manners. I'll use a different Dr. Birmingham has the best.

My year and a half old granddaughter was referred to Dr Matthew Israel for an echocardiogram. Having read all the negative reviews, I had cautioned my daughter that there had to be some truth to them, because there were soooo many. She urged me to keep an open mind as I went to the appointment with them. Well, it didn’t take but two seconds (as soon as we entered the room) that he told us to take off her shirt and lay her down. No introductions. No questions asked first. My granddaughter was scared and we didn’t even have time to console her and prepare her before he was pushing her down and looking at the screen. He and my daughter were trying to talk over the screams and crying. I cannot stress enough that he had absolutely no bedside manner and we were out of there in less than ten minutes of being called back. I’d recommend the long trip to Birmingham.

I would give 0 stars if I could. He was so rude. He just barked orders at my son who has never seen a cardiologist before. He walked in and said "lay down shirt off." He dismissed all my conerns and told me he was just having growing pain and to give him pain meds. He barely looked at the EKG and heart scan. He dismissed us before even seeing the results. We were in and out of the office within 5 minutes. How can you give a thorough exam in 5 minutes? I didnt' even bother explaining anything to me or my son. I would never trust this doctor with my son's health, and neither should anyone else. They should be ashamed that they are treating CHILDREN like this. The minute there is another option for pediatric cardiology in this city they will be finished.

Dr. Matthew needs to learn some bed side manners. He walks into the room never identifying who he is to the patient(which is 3) or mom. Just say lay him on the table, and never tried to console the patient other than saying it don't hurt now!! Then just take his shirt off, this is how we got to do it!! and turns light off and starts the ultrasound procedures. Again this Dr is a Pediatrics doctor with no care to his 3yr old patient scared to death, and yes he was crying. Then Matthew ends with more pediatric doctor that sees him!!!!
I will never recommend Dr Matthew Israel!!
