Excellent service. The manager even helped us and was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. The pets we bought are obviously from a very good and knowledgeable breeder. Extremely good temperament as a result. My wife and I are very happy.

My dry clothes and untrained back will enable me to pay the extra $5 over the local competitor.

Prices are pretty high but they also offer a self-serve dog wash with no time limit for $15. We were able to wash our dog with professional equipment for a decent price.

They also have store cat and a variety of small animals for sale and cats for adoption!

Loved it. Very organized and I met one of the managers dogs. She's adorable. Prices are good, reasonable. Store very clean. And I got my Jack Russell Terriers Santa frosted dog treats and 2 new collars and a rope.

Ok, I love this place! Washing Rojo at home kills my back after having surgery, but not here! I bought him a toy and a #mitten cookie cause he did such a good job!

We had a wonderful experience with the nail trim team. We called ahead to ask for accommodations for our reactive dog. Our dog was attacked at a dog park and has been very nervous since. The team was extremely accommodating and went above and beyond! We will definitely be back!

I've been to many pet stores all over Michigan and I can definitely say that Chow Hound Pet Supplies of Portage Michigan is the best. There main manager has helped me a ton with my animals, making sure I'm getting the right food and enclosures as well as toys for my animals to play with. The staff are great as well they are always so helpful, only downside for me personally is I like fish as much as all my other animals and they dont carry any fish here. They do have a limited supply of nice fish stuff but overall this place deserves a 10/10.

This is a great place to find pet supplies locally. We threw our 2yr old rescued pup a birthday party 🎉 and found the best doggy gifts and treats there! Checkout the bakery too! Those treats were so adorable. He definitely had a great birthday party!

Awesome pet store. Faces are always friendly, always stocked, always clean, they go above and beyond every time, and the music is always on point. Plus, they seem to actually care about their animals, someone is always tending to them whenever I am in.

It's my go to store for all my chinchilla supplies, and I recommend them to everyone.

Employees are always friendly and those dog washes are affordable and amazingly useful! They provide everything you need, albeit my dog still freaks out and cries his way through it all. Thankfully, they're also stocked with a ton of treats and stinky dried animal products that my pup adores!

5 starts for the self serve dog wash!! it is not timed, its always clean, and they have an awesome selection of (unlimited) supplies. Staff is usually friendly (only have had one that was not and I visit here about once a month) and everything is user friendly. Music is great and room temp is always comfortable. I was looking for a new corn snake- but every place I went was either high priced or out! I walked in lost for hope... when I found my baby caramel terrssa corn snake- Harley @ this location! All the employees were extremely friendly and helpful! Not mention the store was clean and overall a wholesome vibe to walk into. Looks I found my forever favorite pet store! I live about 30 minutes away... but the drive is definitely worth it!

They carry the primal frozen food for my cat which is great. The one in Kalamazoo is always out! Place is clean, staff are friendly and I’m in and out with Apple Pay! Cat section is small compared to the dog section, is only downside.

Absolutely the best pet store reward program in town. The $10 reward certificate is good for any purchase and you don't have to purchase minimum requirements. Customer service is top-of-the-line at this location. The cats available for adoptions are from local rescues and I really admire how they support that. My dog Sarah and I just love going to chowhound and hanging out with the cats for a few minutes and picking up our necessary items. The store cat Sammy, is a breed of his own. He dances to the beat of his own drum I love him. They're DYI dog bath is high quality. I've used it multiple times and I'm very satisfied.

Ever since Chow Hound opened up, my boyfriend and I only get dog food from here for our pitbull. They have a great selection of food, supplies, beds, etc. I love the fact that they have cats right at the front to look at and adore over. We always have great customer service, at both of the locations in town.

Our pit was having an allergic reaction and one of the workers at the kalamazoo location recommended a new brand of food to us and she definitely knew what she was talking about. We did research on the brand and she pin pointed every fact about it and our pit no longer has allergic reactions from this brand she recommended.

As far as exotic animals go, I'm not sure if they have a huge variety of items for them but I dont have knowledge of taking care of one. They do have a smaller section for them. I would say dogs and cats have the largest selection here, but they do have stuff for many other animals.
