Shaka Taco Surf City

I cannot stress enough how amazing this food is, and how perfect it is for the location. We got food here four times in one weekend because we couldn't get enough. Fish tacos on the beach? Yes, please. We had fish tacos, shrimp tacos, and nachos, and all of them were delicious. The ingredients were fresh and purposeful, nothing felt like filler or just thrown on. There can be a bit of a wait for the food, but it is absolutely worth it. We can't wait to get back to Surf City for more Shaka Tacos.

Cool place to eat ..... it's on the road. outdoors and close to the beach - so it's like the Jersey shore (but clean). I went with the chicken TACO BOWL for about $10 and a glass of water. Good portions and satisfying. If you buy the chips and salsa - it's unlimited refills. Service was hippie friendly and relaxed. Bunch of boat tailed grackles were around to entertain! I'd go back again - - and you should try it ......

We went today for the first time & it was super busy but, we loved the atmosphere! As far as food, I got the fish taco, tuna taco, & carne taco.

The tuna was over cooked so I likely won’t choose that one again. The carne was decent and the beer batter cod was honestly the best. I truly enjoyed it!

My only recommendation would be offering a salsa that’s spicier than mild please. That would have been perfect!

My husband and I went to North Topsail for an extended weekend getaway and this was our FAVORITE place to eat while we were there! The shrimp taco was amazing, and loved the fish taco, too. Even their salsa was great! Something about the combination of salty air and walkup TexMex that make it amazing!

Fresh and delicious - are truly on point when it comes to Shaka Taco. The commitment to using fresh ingredients is evident in both the pineapple guacamole and the taco bowls with shrimp and carne asada. The flavors are bright and bold, with just the right balance of spice and seasoning.

The pineapple guacamole is truly a standout dish, with the sweet and tangy pineapple complementing the creamy avocado perfectly. The chips are freshly made and provide a perfect crunchy texture to accompany the dip.

Moving on to the taco bowls, both the shrimp and carne asada are cooked to perfection and pair perfectly with the fresh, colorful array of toppings. We ordered carryout to skip the line. Then, we wandered next door to Eventide to snag a drink and stuff ourselves silly.

Overall, Shaka Taco provides a top-notch experience with their commitment to fresh ingredients and delicious flavor combinations. I highly recommend giving them a try - you won't be disappointed!

Great little taco shack. Outdoor seating and eating only. They gave a walk up window for ordering. Many options. Inside the building is a small shop where you can purchase items.

I always return to Shaka Taco each time I visit Topsail. It is consistently delicious! My favorites are the fish tacos, coconut rice, Asian slaw and the taco bowls. It’s fresh, seasoned and portions are perfect. The wait staff is friendly and efficient. The atmosphere is fun and always a fast moving line.

They have the very best and healthier taco options. Their food tastes so good. Everything I have order is so clean, healthy and delicious! The staff is very friendly, wonderful and such a pleasure to work with. #LoveTheirTacos

Not only is the food tasty and well done but, the service is excellent. They are busy all day long, we went an hour prior to close, there was a 20-25 minute line to order. Then there's a wait to get your food. Just chill and chat w a loved one. We had tacos and bowls, both fantastic!

This is a beach place. The food was fresh and good. I wouldn't call anything authentic, but the fish and carne asada tacos stand on their own. The nachos are great for sharing and could be a meal by themselves or a good start to a long evening.

I highly recommend this place for the food, the vibe, the friendly staff, and cleanliness. A very good choice when you want something different.

After being gone for almost 4 years, coming back tasted just like home. The tacos were amazing, view and breeze perfect, and a great selection of beer!
Idk what it is, but their Açaí bowls are THE BEST I’ve ever had!

This place is awesome! The hot sauce is spicy and flavorful. I ordered the cheese quesadilla, Carne asada bowl and veggie tacos for our family. I we devoured everything before I decided to take a picture. The music is perfect, the outside eating is relaxing and the beer is cold. I’ll be back, that’s for sure! We were getting ready to eat at the highway 55 when I saw this out of the corner of my eye. I’m glad we found it.

Finally got to try this place after lots of recommendations! We tried all the options; marinated carne asada, Dos Equis beer battered fish, chili-lime chicken, braised pulled pork, and veggie with coconut rice, we loved them all! Added bonus was the seared tuna blt special which was 🔥

Fantastic service from a really friendly crew. I opted for wings, the rest of our group had a happy mix of shrimp, fish, and pork tacos. The prices are exceptional for the portion and quality. The chili lime dry rub was amazing. Just a touch of sweet with a good balance of citrus and heat. The tacos, I'm told, were equally as good. Tortillas were hand made, everything was well seasoned, and we had our orders in less than 10 minutes.
I'm really happy to add this place to our list of "must stop" spots along the island. 🤙🤙

Excellent tacos! We came hère while on vacation and loved that they had so many choices for tacos. I got the Carne Asada, Shrimp tacos and Ground Beef. We loved the vibe and outdoor seating.

The atmosphere is superb…the food was all tasty! We had a group of 10 and our food came out at a reasonable amount of time! Parking is right in front and the restaurant is dog friendly!! We will definitely be back!!

This place was so good!!! We got so much food for the prices we paid I was so shocked. Honestly me and my 3 kids could have all shared the kids quesadilla haha very pleasantly surprised

We had them cater our wedding meal and it was excellent. We had it delivered and they were on time, setup was a breeze. They were so courteous and kind. We would highly recommend them if you need catering services. Everyone loved the meal, and clean up was so easy. We picked them because we always go eat at their restaurant when we are down in Surf City.

My wife ate lunch here 2 days in a row because it was so delicious. Clean, outdoor patio area for eat-in is refreshing on those nice days and the daily specials available are very good! Highly recommend eating here and also checking out the Surf City Surf School that's in the same building.
