Hands down the BEST ice cream on the Island. The flavors are original and delicious. Who wouldn't want homemade ice cream??? We see the Hershey ice cream everywhere and it just does not compare - at all! We loved the strawberry with oreo but the Key Lime Pie was out of this world. Ben, the owner was kind, patient and very personable. I am happy to support this small business with great ice cream and spectacular service.

This was INCREDIBLE homemade ice cream!! You can tell that love was put into it. The gentleman who helped us was extremely kind and cordial!! He also mentioned that the other food offered, is also made with the same time and attention as the ice cream. I would recommend this place to anyone!!

My family and I visited this small Surf City ice cream shop! We were welcomed with open arms by the friendly owner, Ben. My family and I were also amazed by the variety of ice cream flavors and food options!! What a wonderful place to try if you’re in the area!

Ben the owner is so friendly and such a wonderful guy! The place is so cute, dog friendly, and is absolutely delicious. Totally recommend the homemade chicken salad, pro tip, add the homemade chimichurri sauce ;) cold brew is the best I’ve had on the island!

Two words, Aztec Chocolate.

It's like a dark chocolate with almond pieces but it has a spicy kick. It was AMAZING. We come to Surf City every year for vacation so I can't wait to to back and see what other flavors they have. Definitely a place to stop, especially if you are souvenir shopping nearby.

I don’t usually leave reviews but I stopped here a few days ago and was not disappointed. Firstly, hands down the cleanest public restrooms on the island. Sounds like an unnecessary detail but after the borderline hazardous public bathrooms I’ve encountered down here, it’s truly a relief. Second, lovely service. The young woman with the eyebrow piercing (I didn’t catch her name I apologize) behind the counter was so patient with my young kids. And of course, the ice cream was phenomenal. The blue raspberry was a hit with my little ones and the cheesecake one was unlike any I’ve had before. Hidden gem for sure.

We loved this place during our family vacation! It was vegan friendly and their açaí bowl was incredible. Ben, his family and staff were all very friendly and accommodating. The shop is incredibly clean and everything is delicious.

What a delightful surprise! Walked in and the barista doctored me up a cold brew float with the cinnamon ice cream. 😮‍💨 Best thing I’ve had on the island, yet. Cold brew is truly splendid. 11/10

My family and I went to the beach and decided we wanted ice cream after. This place had great reviews so we decided to try it. We tried the strawberry oreo and banana pudding. It was amazing to say the least. We even took home a container of each. The customer service we received was excellent. We will definitely be back a lot this summer!

Great little spot! My mom and I stopped into Cool Dips after striking out at another nearby ice cream shop that was sold out of their basic premade ice cream, and we're so glad we did! We were both obsessed with the key lime pie flavor and talked about how creamy and delicious it was for days after. The owner was manning the shop that day and he is extremely personable and kind, liberal with the free samples and excited to serve us. We'll definitely return (can't wait to try the "beach bitez") and have already told all of our Topsail-touring friends to check this place out.

The owner was so kind to my bridal party and I & the ice cream was so good. I also had the blue raspberry sorbet (dairy free) & it was delicious! We had a lovely experience and will be coming back whenever we are in town!

The owner was the nicest person I have ever met and was so welcoming when we came in. The “Bee-Rad” smoothie was amazing and everyone loved the ice cream. Vegan options as well! If you are in the area absolutely stop here.

We were looking for high quality ice cream and fortunately read some great reviews for Cool Dips. We had such a great experience, from talking to the owner and hearing his story, to sampling several of the flavors before we made our decision. The peach, chocolate and vanilla stood out to us, but really everything we tried was delicious! The tart and tangy açaí was a perfect contrast to the rich and creamy vanilla. This is our new go-to for scoops on the island. Looking forward to trying their other deli-type offerings soon and wishing this business all the best!
