Max's Pizza

We ended up at Max's Pizza on a whim. Originally we were planning on celebrating our daughter's engagement at a sit down restaurant, had made prior arrangements to be there however upon arrival and going to the bar and ordering a round for the party the restaurant bar staff was not pleasant, nor welcoming and simply rude and indifferent.
Deciding not to spend any further money at a place that was clearly not customer friendly we all decided to keep it simple and to go Max's for pizza. The staff at Max's was simply wonderful! They seated our party and engaged us as welcome guests. Our server Alex was fantastic! He was super attentive, accurate and friendly. The food was awesome, and after multiple rounds of apps, and drinks and then our meals it was a fantastic experience. I cannot say enough about how the staff, the manager and of course the wait staff were attentive to our group.
Food was awesome, reasonably priced and a great value. Most notably was the customer service. This place understands the assignment! The "sit down" high end restaurant staff and management could learn a thing or two from these folks!
Well done and thank you from salvaging a very negative experience at the "other" place and turning our celebration into a very pleasant experience! You have my highest recommendation to take your family here for not only great food, but a customer centered, friendly and welcoming environment. I will definitely be back and will definitely tell all our friends and neighbors to make sure Max's is a must stop!

The food was great but what really made our visit amazing was the customer service! We were greeted by a very bubbly and kind hostess and sat immediately. Our server Donna was an absolute angel!!! She definitely made us feel at home, was prompt with service and tried her hardest to cheer up our tired toddler. We may have only been around Donna for this one meal but you can quickly tell she’s one of the most down to earth people this universe will ever have. Thank you so much for your hospitality <3

Some of the best pizza I've ever had! We can't go to Surf City and not go to Max's Pizza. It's always crowded, so I would recommend going earlier. However, even when crowded, I've never had to wait more than 10 minutes. The food is delicious and Max's is family friendly. If you desire pizza with fresh ingredients with friendly service, Max's is the place to go!

We stopped in on Sunday evening in April. It wasn’t too crowded and we got a table right away. The space has a mix of tables and booths. Our server was friendly. We ordered the garlic cheese curds, two pizzas and an Italian sub for the table. The cheese curds were lightly breaded and served with warm marinara sauce. Both pizzas were very good and had generous amounts of toppings. I wasn’t sure about the Italian sub as it came with a runny/watery sauce on it, but it was very tasty. We will definitely be back.

We ordered three pizzas for take out! We waited about 40 minutes, but the restaurant was packed... not a bad wait for Surf City. To our surprise, the topping on the pizza are baked underneath the cheese! So, if you open up your pizza box and see a cheese pizza, the toppings are actually just underneath! The overall taste was very good. It's like eating a classy pizza. Very yummy. Would go again.

Delicious pizza!! The classic cheese pizza with yummy sauce and flavor. We went twice during our week long stay in Surf City. Would definitely recommend!

We decided on Max's for a birthday dinner. It was absolutely delicious. Reece, our waiter was the nicest young man and very attentive. Do yourself a favor and go get a Max's House Special.

We had a party of 15 and our waiter Alex was fantastic! Great pizza and great service! Alex was very attentive to us and made sure we were well taken care of.

This is one of the OG places in Surf City. We were lucky to find a time to walk in and grab a table. The staff is super friendly and the place has a great old school atmosphere. I had the steak and cheese that was delicious. My wife had a small house special pizza. You can see from the photo that they don't skimp on the toppings. She loved it. If you are in the area, stop by and check them out.

Been coming here for over 30 yrs. Just moved back after being gone and was not disappointed. The burgers were great, a little smaller than I remembered. The service was was FANTASTIC! Thank you Alexa for a wonderful dinner. Good Luck at UNCW! Beer was cold, small glasses (wink wink).

Yum yum. Talk about the best steak and cheese subs on Topsail island and the kiddos love the cheese pizza. It was so worth going and definitely worth going back to again. The staff was super friendly and made sure you had plenty to drink with your meal. Look them up online for menu items..dine in or carry-out your choice. But trust me dine in was my first choice.

This place was recommended by several locals, and it did not disappoint. Friendly staff and super speedy service combined with excellent pizza (their sauce is the bomb!) made this a place we will have to visit again.

Always busy, always great service and friendly staff! They were still seating customers at 3 minutes till closing time. That's customer service at its finest and virtually unheard of.

Best food ever. The pizza is amazing. The staff and even the owner are the nicest people. The owner comes out and talks to everyone. It gets very busy around 5pm and it's not a real big place but it's always clean and upbeat

No matter how much surf City grows, Max's Pizza always feels nostalgic.. very good food in a very good atmosphere. Please start selling boneless chicken wings!!!

Well as I said below, I’m back in Surf City and returned to Max’s pizza again. Same as last time, the food service and cost were excellent. I think they have the best sausage pizza anywhere around. Give yourself a treat and go to Max’s.

If you’re in the Surf City area and looking for a good pizza this is the place to go. We ordered two pizzas for takeout. The pizzas were ready at the time promised. They were hot and delicious. I will definitely return the next time I’m in Surf City.

Great pizza. We had a Max's Special. It came out piping hot with lots of toppings. Magan was our waitress, and she was great. Highly recommend.
