Restaurant Gastrognome

So guys I am not a restaurant critic, but just a regular person who informs you that this place is very tasty and cozy. My family and I came here two years ago and today. I ordered the steak and it was mild and delicious. My daughter loved the pasta with chicken. The portions are huge and the staff is nice. We were taken care of and the dinner was great! 👍

Pet friendly, it was cold outside and we didn't even ask but they sat us inside with our well behaved Maltipoo. Service was outstanding..Food was delicious. We will be back! Oh, and French fries, on point!

One of the he best places in Idyllwild, I go to a lot of places. I will definitely go back. Beautiful fireplace. Excellent food and really excellent service . I would give them 6 stars if I could.

Super cozy and elegant spot for dinner. I got the pepper steak but replaced the mashed potatoes with fries, which were really crispy and tasty. I asked for medium rare and was very happy with a soft, tender rare steak. The veggie medley was well seasoned and lightly steamed and a little crunchy and did I mention the fries already?

There was another elderly couple that were dining when we were paying and it seems like they were regulars. There is no higher compliment for a restaurant to have repeat customers!

i wanted to get some breakfast but they don't serve anything but a belgian waffle, which my uncle ordered; the other patrons, while finishing their meal questioned his choice of lunch. all in good faith i suppose.

i ordered the cheeseburger with Gorgonzola and it was good, i want to give this place five stars because their service is off the hook, and they have cute waitresses, but their fries were soggy. really soggy, almost to the point where i wanted to complain but didn't have the heart to. it was in the middle of nowhere, i guess they just cook their fries like that? maybe it's the elevation. who knows.

otherwise it's a good place, it breaks the banality of the other eateries around town.

Wonderful place to eat, did not have to wait to be seated. The service was pleasantly fast. The shrimp plate and the seafood combo is to die for. Excellent waiter and staff. My wife and I both loved the experience, and the food. Can't wait to come back again.

Great food and cocktail selection. Impeccable winter vibes with the indoor fireplace. Highly recommend if you're visiting Idyllwild for a day or weekend.

We are regular customers and will continue to be! I can’t say enough about this place. The chicken Cordon Bleu is almost a must when coming here. Outside seating is lovely. And the patio is dog friendly. The staff even brought us a bowl with cold water for our pup. Staff and host are very accommodating and make you feel right at home. If it is delicious, this stuff is fantastic so if you’re considering coming here, you definitely should.

Wow!!! I had the SAUSAGE RAGOUT & FETTUCCINE PASTA
Spicy Pork, Sausage, Fresh Tomato, Cream. It was OUT OF THIS world. Fantastic, hot, awesome flavors. A tad spicy ( which I LOVED) The service is great, the ambience is fantastic. We sat right next to the fireplace. This is definitely a recommendation if you are up in the Idyllwild area. LOVE LOVE this place.

The husband and I took a trip up to Idyllwild for our anniversary and we stopped at The Gnome for lunch. The hostess greeted us immediately and upon learning it was an anniversary, sat us in the most perfect spot. Our waitress Kylee was absolutely amazing and super attentive throughout the whole duration of our visit and I don't think we could have had a better experience anywhere else. The food was great and I bet the owner is so proud of his staff. We will absolutely visit here again.

I'm a picky eater and a vegetarian but there's always something yummy to be had. Bread at your table in seconds always my favorite. With much of idy changing this gem is the best and gotta love the setting and old school fireplace especially in the winter cozy vibes

Lovely place to have a nice dinner after a hike or for any occasion. Their cocktails are really good and the trout is particularly delicious

Amazing food! Steven the waiter gave excellent customer service! Beautiful place to eat. Prices were expensive but were worth it.

The atmosphere is super cozy and charming. Jill hosted the bar, serving and assisting the staff and customer's with first class Customer Service. She recommended a delicious, "Hot Pieder" made with Gastrognome's homemade Apple Cider. A must dine in experience.Thank you!

Fine dining in a casual mountain environment. We shared a delicious rack of lamb. We're definitely returning for dessert.

We have vacation couple days in Palm Springs and we flew in from Florida. First time came here with my friends, so friendly host and waiters, foods so yummy, i try Seafod Curry and calamary, we all love it

The French onion soup was absolutely delicious the best that we have ever had, our food was great & our waitress Cheyenne, was excellent. She was very busy but still very tentative to each & every table as if that was her only customer. We will eat here again next time we drive up.

We took friends for their anniversary, they accommodated us to be on the patio with an alcove, dinner was great, Cordon Blu was awesome, trout was great & more, Kaley our server was so friendly & gave us hints of the food & wine & drinks, thank you

The customer service here was amazing!! We had our dog on the outside patio and had a beautiful view of the town around us. The food was delicious and our server Steven was exceptional! Even with the almost freezing weather (literally, it was 33 degrees outside), our experience was great. Definitely deserves 5 stars!
