Abay Ethiopian Restaurant & Bar

I'm vegetarian and always order the veggie combo. So I'm excellent at reviewing this item (fell in ♥ with Ethiopian food in the 90s when I first tried it). Anyway- the spicing was exceptional- I like the spicier side of life and food, and this hits the spot!

Service was good, apart ok-
It's in a bit of a "dive" on the outside but the inside is clean and decent. I would definitely return here.

Good but expensive.

Food: Flavor was good. The beef was chewy but the chicken was tender.

Service: Expect some wait time. Charged us for a drink we didn't order but oh well.

Price: Expensive. There's a $2 charge to pay with a card but the waitress didn't ask us if we'd be paying with cash or card. It was $45 for the large beef and vegetable combo. So it was $70 with tax and tip for the combo dish and 2 coke cans.

I can see why the place was pretty much empty when we got here. It's good but it's expensive.

Loved the food, service, and atmosphere. Food was amazing, the music was awesome, our server was super friendly and helpful. Really enjoyable experience. For reviewers out there saying its expensive, it is not. 5 people, 20 a person with 6 beers plus tip. For how good the food was, i'd pay double

Vegan options are delicious, flavorful, healthy, high protein. Get the vegetarian combination plate. We went in late at night while it's more of a local hangout at the bar with loud music. Friendly, helpful people. Served very quickly. Clean. Outside does not look inviting, but go on in!

Amazing food, great service, they had music playing in the back at a decent level where it wasn't too overwhelming. Great experience overall 👌

Delicious, authentic Ethiopian dining experience. Their injera was 100% teff and gluten-free.

The food is great. It really fairly represents Ethiopian cuisine out of other Ethiopian restaurants I had already tested in Seattle. The atmosphere needs to be a little quiet other than that I strongly recommend this place to give it a try and will not regret.

I recently discovered Abay and decided to give them a try. I am very happy I did. The service is friendly and the food is absolutely delicious and fresh. I wish they had chicken or fish options but the veggie combo is amazing.

Excellent food. Place seems new, still getting menus sorted and training staff, but it was delicious. 3 ppl split the medium combo platter for $42 pretax.

I loved it here!!! I live in the area and saw that a new Ethiopian place opened up, so I had to try it. I’m so glad I did because I might’ve found my new fav spot. I got the derek tibs and it was AMAZING but my friend was fasting and she loved her veggie combo too :)

I have been to many Ethiopian restaurants but Abay tops them all. Everything from the food, drinks and service were excellent. I will be coming back soon!

What a delicious meal and welcoming hosts! I was looking for a bite to eat after my flight landed and stumbled on this gem. Highly recommend this restaurant!
