I had a great experience from the moment that I got there and I almost went into the post office instead of the restaurant and I was greeted and re directed to the right place in a funny way by Michael. The atmosphere is fun, thanks to Michael. Otherwise, it would be your regular diner. The food was really good and a good price. Definitely recommend it and hopefully I will stop again next time I'm around the area.

A real hole-in-the-wall diner.

Not too many place you can still find these days where you can get a cup of coffee and a plate of good food for under $10, but at Michael's my father and I had breakfast for just a little over $16 for the two of us.

Mind you we did only get a couple omelets which come with toast and a couple cups of coffee, but the prices alone should be bringing in the crowds.

If that wasn't enough you got some very friendly sort running the show, a guy who will hang out with you like a friend and talk turkey while your order is being made and after you're done eating. Now that might not vibe with some people, I know myself I am more of a solitary eater when it comes to my meals, but as long as the conversations don't require me to break from my meal then that's fine by me.

As for the food itself, well you got nothing to worry about. The omelets were cooked perfectly, everything requested was made, the toast was nice and buttery, and the coffee was fresh.

So if you want a quick breakfast, under $20, with some light conversation, then look no further.

It's like stepping back in time. So glad I found this place. Michael is the owner, waiter and entertainer all in one. Do not go here if you can't take a little playful roasting. When you eat here there is a true sense of community. Michael engages the diner is playful dialog and it feeds into an excellent experience that has been tough to find since about 1992. For example, if you are an old lady expect to be given a grandma coffee mug. Reading other reviews I can see others can be sometimes put off. I get that- if you say that to people in Newark they get pissed and want to fight. This is Fonda/Fultonville though. Leave the pugnacity back in the 212. I truly feel they are reacting negatively to playful banter that his regulars expect and is the reason you go to places like this. Looking forward to bringing some city folk in sometime and watching their reactions. Check this place out!

Great breakfast great people friendly especially Michael. Prices were great friendly clean. I would definitely recommend to go there parking is a little slim but curbside is good to park. They make you laugh the whole time you’re there that was important family united.

The lights were so dim that I thought it was closed. I'm glad I walked in because their breakfast sandwich was very good .

With my work I always search out the mom & pop diners when I get to a town. Michael's Diner is one of the top 5 I've found over my 35 years on the rd. Everything is AWESOME. Micheal makes you feel like a local from the start. His home town Sarcasm makes you feel at home. Very clean, great home cooked food, very reasonable price and Micheal and his staff will keep you coming back.

Stopped here on my way to Boston this morning with my wife. Huge portions of food and at excellent price, $14 for both of us. Fast service and clean bathrooms. They even gave me a coffee for the road to help me on my way. Definitely will stop by again.

First off it is diner food is homemade and everything was made fresh and tasted amazing. The owner is amazing and quiet a show and he knew everyone of his his regular folks by name and we first time pass thru area on way to Albany. He was telling us stories of where his previous jobs brought him and we crossed paths numerous times. But his meant to own a diner he is such amazing owner. Not sure when will be in Fonda again but saw reviews and was right off thru ways so we had to see why he and diner got such good reviews and Jan 2020 when we stopped by for first time my friend and I loved food suggest for anyone for breakfast or lunch. Check times the close mid afternoon.

The town's true home cooked meal diner. After painstakingly searching area for even a decent burger I struck gold here. All burgers are fresh hand made patties with the slightest hint of seasoning. (not overbearing) I took a chance and ordered the home cut fries and I assure you I choose wisely. Pricing was excellent as for the same order would cost four dollars more at local truck stop. Atmosphere is small home town with the normal and sometimes hilarious banter between customers and staff.

The food is good, but the real reason to go is the owner. It was quite literally one of my most enjoyable lunch stops in recent memory.

The onion rings are legit, as an aside.

Go and enjoy.

We were going to stop by McDonald's on our way down to NYC but at the last minute decided to try to find a diner in town and I'm glad we did! Excellent food, good prices, and the owner was an absolute blast. Definitely will be back.

You know ... when your on a trip, seeing the sights and need to stop for a meal. No expectations... just nutrition. We rolled up on Michaels.
Well, we got the 5 star treatment as all others have written, (great food, great price, local atmosphere)... but we also left with great memory/stories. A real Gem.
Ask about the eastern/western sandwich.
Get the Orings... and save room for Mom’s Carrot cake.
A must stop for Erie Canal riders.
