Beef Patty Melt was probably one of the tastiest sandwiches I've ever had. Excellent service by kind staff, extremely friendly atmosphere. The portions of food are large but offer incredible value to share, overall a wonderful experience!

My wife loved the Aioli sauce on her turkey sandwich. I enjoyed a hamburger which had delicious meat taste, unlike most places nowdays. Definitely stopping here next time through here.

Giving the new Sierra House Restaurant the benifit of the doubt and giving it 3 rather than 2 stars as it just opened and may need to work out a few kinks.

Based on our first visit to the newly remodeled and under new ownership establishment, here is the impression so far:

1. Service - Very slow. Although our waitress was friendly, she was not very attentive. At no point before, during or after our meal were we asked or offered a refill on our coffee, or if there was anything else we needed.

2. Food - My wife and I both ordered omelets (Denver & California), hash browns and toast. Both omelets were overcooked to the point of being "rubbery", and the only cheese being a melted slice on top. The overall taste of both was very bland.
The hash browns were well overcooked, almost burnt, and we each only got 1 slice of toast with our meal. The toast looked and tasted as if it were "toasted" on the grill rather than in a toaster.

3. Decor - Although the establishment was very clean and uncluttered, it is also very sparse and sterile. Gone are any remnants of the once "mountain retreat/lodge" welcoming feel it once had. Very plain and dull...as what is found in most fast-food establishments, with the exception of an open-beamed ceiling and rustic light fixtures.

4. Price - The $2.75 for a standard cup of coffee seemed a little steep, but otherwise the prices are reasonable.

We will give this establishment another try in a few weeks and order some sandwiches/burgers, and adjust the present score accordingly.

If it is discovered that this establishment just needs to work some things out and improves from our first visit, I shall correct the original review at that time.

Stopped here on our road trip. Good food, nice people, but not a very cozy place. Big portions.

I was hoping this restaurant would have been more satisfying.
The menu is much like all the other restaurants in the area offering basic sandwiches, burgers, deep fried items, all day breakfast, and some salads.

First beverages- water. Nasty! Not sure how but it tastes like a swimming pool.

My wife ordered a burger that came with the wrong side. And the patty was pre-made and tasted like a TV dinner patty.

I ordered a Philly cheese steak that was quite tasty! Frys were OK.

Other order was biscuits and gravy that were also good.

Service was quick but after the food came out we were never asked how things were until we were finished with the meal. Also my wife only took one bite of the burger and was never asked why. She does not like to complain but we should have.

Probably won't come back.

We were on the way back from Stanislaus Forest through HWY 108 to HWY 395 that we love the spectacular scenery along our way. Although we were hungry and didn't give a good faith for gourmet dishes, the food without flavor and services weren't good enough. We have asked 3-4 times for coffee that has never experienced.

Had a terrible time there today waited more then an hour to not get our food. They said they had a problem with the printer and that our meal would get there but after waiting more then an hour we gave up. I do not recommend this place at all
