When it comes to fulfilling my Indian food cravings….This is it. A great find! Lunch specials rock. Best naan ever. Oh man, so good.

This place has great saag paneer!

I ordered their Lamb Rogan Josh, Chicken Korma, and Saag Paneer. Out of all of these dishes, I thought the Saag Paneer was the most flavorful and was surprisingly dense due to the amount of spinach.

One thing to note is that this place does not offer lunch buffet anymore. They do have a lunch special, but I did not try this.

The service here was great and even got to greet the owner.

The atmosphere of the place felt a bit empty even though people were coming in and out.

Great local gem. The food is delicious. Robust bold favors and full of traditional Indian spices. Plentiful options of traditional Indian dishes to pick from. Highly recommend the naan. Made fresh to order! so good! The service is prompt, staff is friendly, highly recommend!

We had take out from here. We ordered one lunch special with buttered chicken. The staff told us the lunch special was a smaller portion, but it was more than enough for 1 meals. I also had the tandoori chicken special. Both were delicious and generous in portion. We definitely will be visiting this place again. The staff was very helpful and patient.

While service was a little slow (they, like most places these days, seem under-staffed) everyone was exceptionally kind and very helpful.

The menu mentions there are vegan options but they aren't marked so be prepared to ask if you fall into this category.

Everything was delicious and I will definitely dine here again when I'm in the area.

My mind was blown. How have I never been here before. The food here was absolutely incredible . The best Indian food I have ever had. Try combo # 4 and thank me later. It is tandoori chicken, shrimp biryani, naam , and Daal Makah. I told the waitress I had never had Biryani and that I thought it was amazing. So the owner AJ came out and talked with me for several minutes. Great food and great people!

The food at this restaurant is unmatched! This restaurant totally changed my mind on Indian food for the better and is now a staple in my weekly routine. The owners of the restaurant are delightful people. Unfortunately, the younger workers (not sure if they’re related or not) can be quite rude and have given me nasty looks on multiple occasions. I’m not sure if this is just me, but if it happens to you, please do not let it discourage you from going here, as it is phenomenal! Highly recommend the chicken makhani and the Kashmiri Rogan Josh.

Ate here last night and was VERY pleased! The food is excellent and served in very generous portions, and the staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. Can't recommend Clay Oven enough!

This place is delicious ! Came here with my daughter . We had the Lassi drink, which is a yogurt based drink , it was absolutely amazing . They had different types of bread, I got the sweet bread called Kashmiri Naan, it paired well with my butter chicken and rice pudding . We’re both stuffed ! 10/10, we will definitely be back !

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Frederick. The food is mouth watering delicious and the service is even better. My mom was cold when we were in the restaurant and the owner and his wife brought her a heater. And every time we asked for more onions, chutney, or pickle, they brought it over immediately with a smile. For the meat eaters out there, the kebabs and tandoori chicken are AMAZING! Always hot and fresh. You may go into this area with lower expectations because it's not located downtown Frederick, but the location is deceiving, and it truly is one of a kind. Ajay and his wife are very sweet and make us want to keep coming back. Highly recommend!

There are many Indian reaturants where food is extremely heavy and mornings are extremely rough (u know what I am talking about. Reason we Indians use water as tissues can catch fire) . But not with this restaurant. The food is extreamly tasty and not heavy at all. It felt like my mom cooked the food. It was on time, service was excellent and we enjoyed thoroughly

so thankful this place is still here, love love love this food! the nan is out of this world! so fluffy, warm, and not overly buttered! the rice is so spot on and is perfect with every dish I have ever ordered. The flavors are so specific to this restaurant. I've had plenty of Indian food and I now there is a difference between having a craving for Indian and having a craving for Clay Oven and now its always the craving for just Clay Oven. the staff and owners are incredibly sweet people, never had anything bad come out of the kitchen!!

I was very pleased with my recent experience here. The restaurant is small and cozy, situated in the middle of a business strip. Service is quick and friendly, with orders being brought out in a short time. Buffet options are available here as well. It would be nice if naan was served complementary to most meal choices instead of having to be bought seperate. Nevertheless, the food is great-tasting and definitely recommendable.

The food is always amazing. The wait time was way longer than I expected. Considering the amount of orders they received they are doing something right. And our food was worth the wait.

Went for lunch today, had fresh delicious bread to start and the lamb and rice as well. Food was delicious! The owners are so nice, I can’t wait to go back!

We came in about 30 min before they closed, on a Monday. We received a warm greeting and the owner was happy to educate us on the menu. Service was fantastic. But the FOOD!! I don't even have enough words. So much flavor and freshness. Portions were more than generous, too. Pricing was also very fair. After ordering 3 entrees, 2 sides and 2 apps, my husband and I were happily surprised to find we over estimated the check. We will absolutely be back to Clay oven, often, and with the rest of our family.

This food is delicious and well priced! Full of flavor. If you are vegan like me, they have plenty of options here not just vegetarian. Amazing, rich Chana Masala just like the kind I crave. Got the potatoes and spinach, rice, potatoes and pea stuffed roti, vandaloo sauce, and mulligatawny soup, all of which were vegan and delicious!
You can pair the vandaloo sauce with any of your own vegetarian protein at home and create another entree this way… nothing was too oily at all & I feel great after eating here. The owner was so sweet and you can tell they feel pride and love for sharing the food.

We really enjoyed our meal here. Our group of three ordered the veggie samosas, veggie pakora, garlic naan, chicken biryani, a tandoori dish, and a potato curry. Every single dish was delicious! The inside of the restaurant is very clean, there are plenty of drink options including alcoholic beverages, and the server was so friendly! He regularly checked in on us to ensure we were enjoying our meal and to see if we needed anything else. We have ordered from here via delivery in the past, but now that we've dined there in person, we are looking forward to dining in more often.

Most interesting Indian food I’ve had in years and enjoying the Nepalese influence as the owner is from Northern India. I’ve learned that Vandaloo is the same as Vindaloo, and still my favorite Indian dish. Maybe the best I’ve had, right here. The flavors are popping and seem to take turns moving forward on the palate. Be sure to try the lentil soup, I’ve never tasted pure simplicity in complexity. Taste it and you’ll understand!
