Such an awesome experience with friends! They walk you through the steps of the process and you are free to be as creative as you want! Once you choose your scents you like and vessel, they help you narrow down what scents would compliment each other in a candle. They even have drinks you can order up at the candle bar as well while you mix your candle! The staff were super friendly and it was such a nice atmosphere. If you want to have a cute date or a friends activity, I highly recommend this experience!

My new favorite activity! I went here with my sister who raves about this place and it more than lives up to the hype. Christina, the owner, is so nice and makes the process so easy! You get to pick all of your own scents for different sized candles, wax melts, fragrance oils, and body products. They serve drinks and it’s a great place to go with family, friends, or on dates. The vessel selection rotates so there’s always something new. After you make it, it takes about an hour for the candles to set so you can pick them up later or the next day. There’s also art on the walls from local artists. Love it!

Such a fun afternoon celebrating a friend's birthday! You smell 110 scents, write down your favorites, select a vessel to purchase, go over to the candle bar, and discuss with a specialist which of your scents will blend together well in a candle. Three is a good number to choose. You take those essential oils and slowly drip them into a little metal bowl, stirring them with a long spoon, and sniffing as you go along to see if you like the blend you’re creating. (Did I mention: you can purchase a mimosa or glass of wine or non-alcoholic beverage to sip during the process. 😊) You control the ratio of each oil, based on which of the three scents you want to be stronger. When the little bowl is full and you’re happy with the blend, the specialist takes the vessel you’ve chosen and fills it with hot soy wax from a machine that looks like a Tastee-Freez dispenser. She returns it to you, and you use the long spoon to blend the combined oils into the wax. You go have lunch for 90 minutes (I recommend delicious Magnolia’s on Park at Oxford) while your candle cools and solidifies. Go back and pick it up, and you’re on your way. Very attractive packaging.

You pay according to what vessel you choose. The least expensive is $21 plus tax ($22.68); they vary in size and style, with several in the $30 range. I chose the translucent cobalt blue one ($22.68), and my friend selected a copperish one for $26 ($28.08).

Oh … you get to name your unique, personal blend, and write it on a label to be adhered to the bottom. My friend blended mahogany, pumpkin spice, and balsam fir, aptly naming her blend Woods of Winter. I chose sea foam, balsam fir, and elderflower, naming the blend Highway One, reminded of the drive down that breathtaking, fragrant, California coastal highway. It's as if your label tells a story.

I kept this activity a surprise, convincing Vickie to trust me she’d enjoy the experience. We both did. Highly recommend! We truly appreciated the friendliness of the staff, the convenient use of their restroom, and the exhibited art by local artists. We easily found street parking right in front of the store; there's also a lot behind the store. The atmosphere is so cozy with several couches and chairs. If you can go on a weekday, it's less busy than a weekend.

I christened my candle last night, and it smells great. As planned when I blended, the sea foam is the primary scent and just lovely. My friend and I are both candle freaks and couldn't believe we hadn't heard of this hidden gem before. A man and woman were finishing up their candles when we arrived, and he admitted he was surprised how much he enjoyed the experience. Not just for women!

[FYI - Only because I'm a slow sipper, I'd pass on getting a beverage next time because the process didn't take very long, and I only sipped about half of my mimosa. But that's just me. * Recommendation to the delightful staff: when one person is paying for more than herself/himself and using a credit/debit card, please try to be discreet when having them finish the transaction on the large electronic device, so the total amount isn't big and bold and visible by the person being treated. Thanks.]

Such a fun time making our own candles!!! Loved picking out the different scents and then mixing three to make my own. You can also make your own body scrubs and lotions :)

Shymel was WONDERFUL in making our experience here amazing. He seemed like he genuinely loves helping others and that he wanted to be there! Which is so hard to find now a days. He truly made our experience lovely, pouring us drinks, making our girl group laugh and feel welcomed while also dropping so much knowledge about making our own scents! Thanks Again Shymel!

Such a fun and unique experience! I’ve been here probably 5 times now and every time time I’ve come in the staff are so friendly and helpful.

I recently visited this place with friends and I don’t regret my decision. The staff are very informative about the instructions, carefully walked us through each step, and didn’t hesitate to help. I am happy about the results that I received with my candle. I’ll be stopping by again in the near future

This store is FANTASTIC! It's such a unique experience. You choose your favorite scents and then one of the *scent stylists* helps you create your candle masterpiece. Scents by Design has more than 100 scents to choose from (so thousands of combinations!!). However, if you're overwhelmed by mixing your own scents, they also offer ready to go single scent candles. It's such a fun activity! I even chose scents that I would not typically choose for myself and created one-of-a-kind scent combinations. After making my candles, I was able to pick up the finished products within 90 minutes! I already started burning my candle, and I absolutely LOVE how the scent fills my entire home.

This is one of the only indoor activities that I've felt safe doing during COVID. Scents by Design was implementing many COVID precautions, including: 1) Require people wear a mask; 2) Use hand sanitizer before smelling candles; 3) Request customers make reservations; 4) Clean products and surfaces between customers.

So much fun! Would come back here and do it all over again. The owner was so nice and helpful and personable. We had such a good time

My Husband and I had an amazing time. Shy greeted us and he was super friendly. He was very informative and helped us through the process. You can choose any scents you like and you can choose the container. I definitely recommend and I would come back.

I received a gift of your Lavender Vanilla Goat’s Milk Lotion and Hand wash. I am totally in love with this product. Your lotion is so soft on the skin without any greasy residue. And the scent is nothing like I’ve ever used before. It’s there but it’s subtle. I have received so many compliments on your lotion and hand wash. Thank you.

Went here for my girlfriends birthday. Never did anything like this before and dint know what to expect. I was a real fun experience and the staff was super pleasant and helpful. Definitely plan to go here again. And the price is reasonable for what you do. It's definitely not just buying a candle or the like from Yankee candle or anything... its better.

I was there recently with my girls and we had an amazing time! Shy was incredibly helpful, pleasant and not to mention, handsome! Truly enjoyed him and the whole experience! I wish the bathroom had a spray to sample.

My cousin and I went here a few months ago and had the best time! The staff was so friendly, patient, and helpful when it came to our indecisiveness and helped us to combine the scents we liked perfectly! This was such a fun thing for us to do together. If you love candles, or are just looking for a fun indoor activity I cannot recommend this place enough!!

Perfect for a date night. If you’re a dude with a beard do this with your wife you will get brownie points plus you’ll get manly scents for your man cave that your bros will compliment on game day.

What a fun place! My husband and I stopped here after lunch and had so much fun creating a candle! We went through every scent marking the ones we liked, then the staff helped us pair together what we liked to make sure the candle would smell good. We got to mix the oils and wax. It was such a unique experience. The employees were all so amazing, welcoming kind and knowledgeable. I can't wait to come back!
