Phenomenal atmosphere. The food was impeccable. Absolutely tasty. The service was beyond the best I've ever had Friendly. The waitress was superb. She knew everything that was on the menu How it was made every ingredient. The busboys were excellent very well groomed, very friendly, very professional. a very cozy, relaxing atmosphere probably the best restaurant I've been at in years

Reliably excellent food and service. Fun, energetic vibe. Delicious cocktails. A gem of authentic cuisine from Provence nestled in the sweet little farm town of Pine Plains.

Champetre is everything that a wonderful upstate fine dining experience should be. The food is fantastic, some of the best in the Hudson Valley for sure; the atmosphere is as attentive and professional as any fine dining experience I’ve had; but still it manages to be such a convivial and casual place where everyone is enjoying themselves (including the staff). Tracy, the bartender, is an alchemist and the ONLY bartender I regularly ask to make me any drink she wants.

It’s the first place we think to bring friends and guests, and a place where we’ve celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, friendships. Reliably delicious!

Call ahead for reservations, it is often fully booked.

Also a great place to eat before or after performances at the Stissing Center next door.

My dad and stepmom come here every Wednesday. When in town we always go and everything is amazing. Pine Plains is a small town with big foodie options. This place is fantastic!

Low-key exterior downplays extraordinary food. Wonderful service and a fully stocked bar led to a martini ordered "as filthy as three days at Coachella." Favorites on the menu include the escargot, steak tartare, and every dessert (tiramisu highly recommended, all prepared by the head chef). Visit and feast while it's still an undiscovered gem!

Can't say enough about this place from top to bottom.
The service was stellar, attentive but still allowed you to enjoy yourself, but always there if you needed something. Knowledgable, great recommendations, and you can tell they eat/love the food as well.
The food is out of this world. Classic flavors and well executed. The escargot is unreal! Simply the best I think I've ever had - and that includes Paris.
Can't wait to go back.

We returned there last night ( June of 2024 ) for our one of the very best meals we have ever had anywhere in the world. The Salads, Lamb Tagine and Slate were amazing and the lettuce salad an old favorite. The wine list is spectacular. Thank you Michel and Patricia. Just extraordinary in every way. AAA+. One of the very best anywhere in the USA.

Well well well everything from the staff to the food was impeccable. Tracy & Helen greeted me and my party and tended to us the entire time. We felt like locals and like family while we were there. The Chef Michelle made sure to come say hello to our table too and took time to share stories of his well lived and fabulous life from France to Los Angeles, Colorado, NYC and finally back to this little gem of a town. The food only served to top our lovely experience. Food paired well with wine and the wait staff (Tracy) was SO EXTREMELY knowledgeable of how every dish was prepared and what exactly which wine to pair with our food. I was just a visitor but we so can't wait to come back!

Every time I come to Pine Plains I have to have at least one meal at Champetre. The food, service, and atmosphere are excellent. The biggest challenge for me is trying to save room for dessert which is a must. If you need a suggestion on a wine pairing for your meal you can rest assured they'll have one. Easily worth a 45 minute drive if you're coming from outside of Pine Plains.

The food was delicious and served quickly yet the evening felt well paced, not rushed. The bouillabaisse was spectacular, perfectly poached seafood in a flavorful broth. But the star of the show were the flash fried mushrooms appetizer. Salty, crispy, tender and so fresh. We’ll return sometime in the near future on a cold, crisp night for some authentic French food and a glass of wine. What a lovely evening…

From the moment we sat down and looked at the menu, we knew Champetre was going to be good. The food was above our expectations, we ordered the flash fried mushrooms, fried artichokes and escargot to start and everything tasted way better than what is typically served in French restaurants in NYC. Also had the duck breast and wild foraged mushroom risotto for our mains, enjoyed both so much and we’ll definitely be back!

I’m a long time customer of Michele’s restaurants starting with Provence in NYC many years ago and more recently Stissing House. We went to Champetre about 2 weeks ago to celebrate my birthday and I was totally impressed with the quality of the food and drinks, the service and the overall ambience of the place. I left feeling physically wonderful as I only feel after having an exceptional meal using the finest ingredients. Planning to go back in a few weeks to celebrate my partners birthday. Can’t recommend this restaurant highly enough.

Not a Manhattan restaurant but a whole lot of fun. Michelle is great; the servers are a lot of fun. We recommend the escargot. The flash fried local oysters tasted great but it was the oil and salt that was delicious. Steak tartare was great and the duck was really good but was served cold so be aware of that. A really great experience we love the staff and Michelle the cook/owner.

Consistently wonderful food. Menu changes just enough to keep every visit feeling fresh. Don’t miss the oysters or the sea urchin if on the menu. The salads, duck, steak (strip & tartare), fries, and desserts are always fantastic.

The energy in the new space is great - the main weekend nights always feel a bit like a party but also great for date night. Sitting at the bar is also quite enjoyable.
